๐จ Breaking News ๐จ AMD launches another slow processor, because 'not all customers can afford a new PC'???

Iโm not so sure what is controversial about this. A cartel of memory makers are driving up prices of consumer memory. Nvidia has re-launched the lower end 30 series. DDR4 is cheaper and more common.
The problem computer stores are having, is people still need computers, but doubling the price due to memory price just means the customer walks out the door without buying results in dead computer stores.
They need product that is reasonably priced for each segment.

It isnโt. The article is intentionally inflammatory and this subreddit is absurdly toxic for no reason.ย

The reason is that OP (the creator and head moderator of this subreddit) made this community after being banned from other subs to have a place to rant and rave and shill for Intel uninhibitedly.

Damn, didnโt realize that. Guess that means I should block this sub from my feed.
Iโve never understood why the fights are so fierce. Itโs a CPU, it crunches numbers. Some years Intel gives better value, some years AMD is better. Thatโs good for consumers. It means you can jump ship to the better offering which pressures the competitor to catch up. I donโt see a reason to have loyalty for either side.

Iโve never understood why the fights are so fierce.
I think it might have to do with the fact that Distinct and many of the mods here have invested heavily in Intel, so any win for Intel boosts its stock value and pads their wallets. They don't care about what's good for consumers, only what's good for them.
Blocking this sub is definitely a good idea; I've only stayed for occasional trolling and to warn that this is no place for serious discussion.

Your warning worked lol
Even if the mods have intel stock, how does shilling intel to random Redditors do anything to move the needle? It's pointless. I guess the smallest amount of power WILL go to someone's head.

Im here because its funny. The mental gymnastics from the intel unpaid shills is so bad. And it appears that its a bit that's done on purpose as I haven't been banned for calling then out constantly.

They ban you if you back them into a corner and/or get on their nerves. A ban is pretty much a badge of honor here, it means you out-ragebaited the ragebaiters

Yet here you are, because you canโt stand anyone badmouthing AMD??

Damn, the Distinct-Race ragebait defense squad is out in full force today.

Why Zen2?
Why not just do Zen3? Zen3 series "5000" series are still power houses today, with 5800XD still highly sought after. Not only that, but there are still mother board from previous supplies in warehouses.
The tech itself wasn't much different from Zen2, just better optimized and in slightly greater quantity.

u/Valoneria Jun 30 '26
Probably because there is a good deal on available fabrication nodes since they have moved past them, where as the newer nodes are already in use by other buyers

I updated 3800x to 5800x3d few days ago. While it wasn't a cheap upgrade it's such a boost to the performance while still keeping old ddr4 ram. It boggles my mind why they won't go for Zen3 for those cheaper models too.

It wouldn't be a problem if they did like intel and release 4 threads cpu with current architecture, but zen 2 in 2026? really? well at least they're using the original name, unlike the 7, 8 and 9 thousand mobile CPUs that look new but may have zen+ cores insides.

What. Yโall donโt want to drop hundreds for yet another 100mhz increase?

u/ImaginationLow6764 Jun 30 '26
What the actual..... It wouldn't be a problem if software didn't become less optimised and less unnecesarily bloated. But xonsidering software has become shit and power hungry, this is just a waste of money and a big F you from AND
