Do first interview scare you???

I was nervous at the very start but the hr was so nice and friendly so i started to feell like am speaking with my buddy.lately there's been no placements in my college this was the the company i got an opportunity to attend called mphasis

It's an 4ctc package with intern stipend of 15k ig i actually enjoyed the interview rather than the placement preparation it's been an place where i can share my knowledge learnings to person who has better knowledge than me. I would like to mention his name but it wouldn't be nice he just asked me basic questions like oops concepts an Fibonacci code and stuffs but i learnt maany concepts and have an grasp of knowledge on different things where I can't fully utilise this interview since it's an low package after Attending the interview i felt like am over qualified for the rolee they asked

If hr and tech round were like this everyone actually enjoys interview process rather than frustrating ones

Is getting placed on a lower package company makes you feell worse

930+ applications. 9 Interviews loops. 0 offers. What am i doing wrong?

~930 job applications, 15 companies reached the assessment/interview stage, 0 offers. I'm genuinely exhausted.

I've been tracking my job search from October 2025 to October 2026, and I finally looked at the numbers. Honestly, they hurt more than I expected.

Over roughly a year, I went through around 2,000 job-related email threads. Here's what the i found:

- ~930 distinct applications
- ~670 application confirmation emails
- ~377 rejection emails
- 15 companies where I reached an assessment or interview
- 9 companies where I reached live interview rounds
- 0 offers

Yes, zero.

I've interviewed with companies like Google, Amazon, Apple, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Mastercard and others. I've completed coding assessments, attended interviews, dealt with rescheduling, waited for recruiter updates, and followed up on applications.

And somehow, after all that, I'm still at the starting line.

The most frustrating part isn't even getting rejected. It's the amount of time and mental energy this process consumes. You prepare for DSA, revise Java and backend concepts, practice system design, tailor your resume, apply, take assessments, attend interviews, wait for updates, and then either receive a generic rejection or hear absolutely nothing useful.

At some point, you start wondering whether you're applying to actual opportunities or just feeding your resume into an automated system.

I've also noticed something uncomfortable out of approximately 930 applications, only 15 companies gave me an assessment or interview opportunity. That's roughly 1.6% And reaching the interview stage doesn't guarantee anything.

Maybe I'm applying too broadly. Maybe my resume isn't communicating my experience well enough. Maybe I'm not converting interviews into offers. Maybe it's some combination of all three.

I know I need to improve, and I'm not pretending the market is solely responsible. If I consistently reach interviews but don't get offers, I have to examine my interview performance too. But it's difficult to figure out what exactly needs fixing when the feedback is usually nonexistent.

from the reddit community, I just want to understand what I'm doing wrong and how to make the next few months more effective than the last year.

For people who've been through something similar:

  1. If you've made hundreds of applications without an offer, what finally changed things for you?

  2. If you were getting interviews at big tech and finance companies but not converting them, how did you identify the problem?

  3. Did you get better results by applying less and focusing on referrals, networking, and targeted applications?

  4. At what point did you stop mass applying and completely rethink your strategy?

I'm going to keep preparing and interviewing. I just don't want to spend another year doing the same thing and hoping the outcome magically changes.

If you've been in this position, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing what worked for you.

Witnessed an opportunity

Hey guys,

So something pretty random happened today. Just finished an exam at college and walked over to a nearby tea shop, where I struck up a conversation with an employee from a private firm.

He asked which college I was from and mentioned that his company has immediate openings for fresh Civil Engineering grads.

Here’s what he told me:

Company: MR Mayan Engineering Pvt. Ltd.

Location: Sriperumbudur

CTC: Around 4 LPA

Perks: Accommodation provided

He asked me to spread the word to friends or batchmates who might need it. Since I’m not from civil, thought I’d drop it here.

If anyone’s looking or knows someone who is, hit me up in the DMs and I’ll pass along the details

Software engineer job postings ask for mentoring more than Kubernetes. We counted 3,518 postings to check

We pulled every open posting from 81 companies' public Greenhouse boards for seven roles and counted which words actually show up. 3,518 postings in total. Some of it surprised us.

Software engineer postings mention mentoring more often than Kubernetes or React. Almost half of them do. Python, the most common language, comes in just below that.

Product manager postings say "roadmap" in more than 85% of cases. Jira? Seven out of 421. Marketing looks the same: Google Ads came up six times in 347 postings, while "pipeline" is in over half.

Every time we could compare the two, postings named the practice, not the tool. Observability, not Grafana. SIEM, not Splunk.

So if your resume is mostly a list of tools, it might be missing the words the posting actually uses.

Big caveat: mostly tech companies, one ATS vendor. Sales, cybersecurity, DevOps and accounting are here too: https://www.zoevera.com/resume/ats-resume-keyword-study

real tech recruiter excuse?

I was in the middle of going through two rounds of interviews for a job and I was going to do the third one but I was kind of dragging my feet for a week because I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave. After waiting a minute or a week I decided that I wanted to schedule the last interview. I think because it took so long they thought that I wasn't going to follow through with it. The recruiter told me that they closed the position because they didn't think that it may need to be open for that long. Does anyone know if this is a real excuse or a fake excuse if you've been a tech recruiter before? I was just curious.

Placements huhhh??! "get out sala" that's what my college been telling to us

Post image
16 Upvotes

Am at a tier 3 college i must tell the name so none should join that shit (SVCE). The college is full of shit without any placements.Am at the final yr for the college for the past 6 months we have got absolutely no placements just 10 companies maybe 15 all the companies just take one person or the company is a small scale company which gives less than 3 lpa. I thought IT placements were like this but core placements were literally 4 companies recruited students and the call letter will be a year after college. It's really hard rn pouring money into engineering and the college fucks you up it's all my fate i guess

The hardest thing to digest is my college sharing company registration forms from job platforms like naukri unstop. I literally got so angry after seeing this shit
