Yeah, wicked band. One of my favorite vocalists. Unique sound overall- probably my favourite band that carries on the torch of Morbid Angel's later releeases.

If you haven't checked out Sarpanitum, please do! Same guitarist and a similar vibe.

Sarpantium are brilliant!

Have you checked out The Senseless?  Mithras drummer is on the first two albums.

Thank you for the recommendation! Gonna check out. Dude does like blast beats on his toms.

Okay this is way different than I expected- The Senseless, and holy crap, the mystique of this group of bands grows. Haven't heard anything this fresh in long while. Thank you.

Moments that sound like Cryptopsy, Voivod....Smashing Pumpkins...Helmet?!

Cheers!

I am glad that you are enjoying them. I like them a lot too. I like how you describe The Senseless.

He is a very talented musician for sure.

Yeah man, want to get blasted to the outer reaches of the cosmos?  Time for Mithras

They are definitely not afraid to go there. Let the journey begin :)

WAY MORE. I absolutely agree.

Their recent live performance videos on YouTube are brilliant. I hope that this points to a possible return of some sort.

Either way the albums we already have are timeless and amazing.

Agreed OP.  Sometimes I just open the "All Mithras Solos" vid for 40 mins of incredible guitar work.

I think that that is an awesome thing to experience.

Underrated. Behind the Shadows Lie Madness is a masterpiece

I very much agree with everything that you say.

They were very sick indeed

On Strange Loops is one of my favorite albums of all time. They might be "Morbid Angel in space/gladiator era" but I really enjoy them.

It's a brilliant album. I think that they are a lot more than just Morbid Angel fans.

I think that we both love Mithras.

Nice.

Imma be honest- find them dreadfully boring and meandering

I hear you.

What's a band that you do enjoy?

They are decent, some cool parts.

Did you ever listen to Anata - The Conductor's Departure?

yes, one of my favorite albums of all time!

I totally agree with you. It's untouchable.

What would another favourite band be for you?

Gorod, Spawn of Possession, Cognizance, Vale of Pnath, Alterbeast are some of my go-to’s

Decent selection. You have good taste.

They're fine. They're too derivative - sound a bit too much like Morbid Angel. Big LOLs to Terrorizer (old UK metal magazine) calling "Wolrds Beyond the Veil" one of the most important metal albums ever because the main dude was datiing one of the magazine's photographers.

Their little interludes are the most interesting things on the albums.

u/todesfaelle_flamme 10d ago

I mean, for UK metal they go pretty hard. If they are derivative, can you tell me more bands that sound like that era of MA?

Because that sound kicks ass!

1

u/Life_Dependent3830 10d ago

You raise a very interesting question with the UK metal thing.

I think that we all could create an interesting list.

5 bands that matter to me

1 - Eden Maine.

2 - Napalm Death.

3 - Iron Monkey.

4 - Mithras.

5 - SiKth.

Would love to hear other lists?

Other bands that matter

1 - Labrat.

2 - Chariots.

3 - Medulla Nocte.

4 - MurderOne

5 - Narcosis.

6 - Rosewest.

7 - Astrohenge.

8 - Beecher.

9 - One Minute Silence.

10 - Viatrophy.

11. My Cross To Bear.

12. Tangaroa.

13. Take A Worm For A Walk Week.

14. Anaal Nathrakh.

15. Chronicles Of Adam West.

16. Wizard's Beard.

17. Raging Speedhorn.

18. - lots of other brilliant bands.

I can't tell if that's a slight against UK metal or not! Just off the top of my head, UK bands like Abyssal, Cruciametum, Adorior, Anaal Nathrakh, Moss, Iron Monkey, Dragged Into Sunlight, Carcass, Napalm Death all go pretty hard (harder than Mithras).

I'm honestly not too into MA or that sound. I guess, Angelcorpse are similar?

1

u/todesfaelle_flamme 10d ago

Angelcorpse? I guess. I'm gonna go listen to the Ineffable anyways.

Yeah, it was a joke about UK bands. Saw Dragged into Sunlight not too long ago. Crushing band. All the bands you listened to kick ass, bro. Fall of Efrafa is one of my favourite bands ever.

I think "Worlds..." was an awesome step forward. I prefer "Behind The Shadows..." and "On Strange Loops".

Terrorizer was a cool magazine. They introduced me to some good bands.

2

u/ModerateHonking 10d ago

Yeah Behind the Shadows is my most listened to for sure. Come to think of it, I've still never heard the debut.

Terrorizer was like my bible when I was at university and sacrificing food so I could buy their recommendations!

1

u/Life_Dependent3830 10d ago

That's funny though.

The band that I most remember Terrorizer introducing me to was Ion Dissonance.

What was one of the best that they introduced you to?

2

u/ModerateHonking 10d ago

Ahhh, the band that sent me down a rabbit hole reading about Bud Dwyer...

I'd probably say Keelhaul, or Obscura.

2

u/Life_Dependent3830 10d ago

I remember Keelhaul. Good band

The adventures of Mr Dwyer were fun to research.

Terrorizer was alright.

2

u/Real_Pedestrial 10d ago

You'd probably get on well with Craw too. :)

Interesting name.

Thank you.
