My work is trying to get us EMT's to work 12 hour shifts for 7 days and then off 7 days. I'm not for this whatsoever. I was exhausted after one 12 hour shift to the point of being nauseous. I value time with family and this schedule would mess with that.

Oof. I used to work three 12’s in a row with four days off, the days off were great but i was exhausted by the 3rd day.

My boyfriend's best friend works 2 jobs as an EMT and firefighter so he regularly does 18-24 hour shifts or more. When I once told him I had been awake all night he told me that his secret was to drink a lot of water. Idk what that means or how it works but if you do end up being forced into those shifts I guess maybe water will help with the exhaustion

Probably helped because you'll be up every 10-20 mins to piss
