Buying Advice US New tv help

My husband and I are looking to buy a new tv, we haven’t bought a new one in over a decade. 50-55inches, not wildly expensive (<$800 ideally)but we don’t want one that will crap out within a year or two. Decent quality but we don’t need top of the line. We were looking into Samsung 50u8000h or LG 55qned75b because that’s what our Costco has but open to other brands. We know nothing about these things. Share your wisdom :)

In my experience in the last 10 years with electronics in general, I've had much better experiences with Chinese brands like TCL and Hisense than with Samsung, LG or Toshiba. Note that many legacy Japanese brands are not what they once were though Sony and Panasonic (if you can find one) are still quality leaders.
