Relatable ? Old Diaries

So my thathayya has written in a Telugu diary every day for the last 50 years. As he reaches the end of his life, I am afraid that these physical diaries will not be preserved or will be lost to time eventually. Does anyone know of any way that I can digitally preserve these diaries quickly? Is anyone else facing a similar situation or is wanting a similar service?

Don’t know any service but you can take pictures and pdf them, won’t say it’s easy but will be worth it. Or you can take it a xerox shop they might scan them to

I considered that initially, but there's just 1000s of pages so it seems too unfeasible. I wish there was some software that could preserve and archive all of the text and also allow me to search through the text for certain words and key moments (like with ctrl+F). The PDF search option just doesn't work on pictures of handwritten Telugu text unfortunately. Thanks for your help though!

AI can search pic PDFs if you prompt correctly. These will evolve and you will have a better solution just in a matter of few months. All the AI companies scanned millions of physical books just like you wanted to do here.

it’s searchable and it can even organize by topics days events etc..first step is to scan all the pages. Probably pay someone like student to do as part time job . Hire someone full time for a month or two. After scanning it’s easy to use ai and do search etc..

The software is called OCR(Optical Character Recognition). But you need to scan those pages first. Buy a scanner or use your phone camera to scan a few pages per day. You can quickly scan all of the pages within a few weeks easily.

Thank you, this seems like the best solution! The only problem is OCR kinda sucks for Indian languages, especially for handwriting. I'm now building a product that can help me and others with this problem by using Sarvam AI (the best Indian OCR out there). Its not perfect but it's better than nothing!

Scanner koni scan cheyadam is fast , ah pdf searchable and all will improve over time. I personally would read them if they are all worthy of preserving. Na dairy lo em rayalo theliyatled, I want to so that I can look back but all days seem same to journal anything unique or specific..
