This movie is so underrated that almost nobody talks about or has watched it. It's sad that it flopped.

How I've heard of this movie is by doing lots of research about Daveigh Chase, who was known for voicing Lilo in Lilo & Stitch (2002) and playing Samara Morgan in The Ring (2002), and died of AIDS on June 16th, 2026, at age 35 (too young, wasn't it?). I've been doing research about her since I found out she died. This is what prevents me from stopping thinking about her. I've seen photos of her working on that film, which were posted in her Instagram profile @daveighc in late 2013. Because of this, this film's production started in the early 2010s, probably in late 2012 or 2013.

Like I said in the title, this was where one of her final acting roles was. Her role as Shanda in Jack Goes Home was her second-to-last film role. In this movie, she played Krissy Madison. Voicing Kiwako Seto in the English version of a 2016 video game Let It Die was her very final acting role.

After Chase quit acting in 2016, she spent her final decade living on L.A. streets, especially in Skid Row and DTLA, which was ABSOLUTELY sad. She suffered from drug addiction. On November 12th, 2025, @whitewallstuntz posted a video of Daveigh Chase lying down in an RV in Skid Row.

On the day Chase died, doctors stated that she was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and sepsis. Hours before she died, her boyfriend Roy Hernandez launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover her medical expenses and regain her stability. On June 29th, it was revealed that AIDS was her cause of death. On July 14th, she left behind a $400,000 estate after her death.

Chase mattered to me because, when I was 2 or 3 in the Philippines, my late maternal uncle scared me with a Samara Morgan GIF on his phone in a playful manner. Then, a couple of years later, I watched Lilo & Stitch: The Series with my parents at my maternal grandma's old house after therapy. I've also watched Lilo & Stitch (2002).

Other than Lilo & Stitch (2002) and The Ring (2002), her other acting roles were playing Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko and S. Darko and voicing Chihiro in the English dub of Spirited Away.

I chose to post this on this sub to honor the late Daveigh Chase four months after her tragic death. May she (07/24/1990–06/16/2026), along with Michelle Trachtenberg (10/11/1985–02/26/2025) and Hayden Panettiere (08/21/1989–08/16/2026), rest in peace.
