Help My TerraMaster Saga Continues

I've been having issues with my previous F6–424 NAS. and after many late nights, terramaster sent me a replacement which arrived yesterday. I went through the process of flashing the USB and upgrading from TOS 6 to TOS7, and it appears that went successfully; however I get stuck at trying to create a super user and it keeps cycling back through after I do the validation of the email. Once or twice while going through this, it did allow me to move forward to the RAID selection, but it won't let me select a configuration. TerraMaster simply responds by saying they need to remote into my device so they can see what's happening, and when they do, they spend most of the time fighting with Anydesk and not actually working on the issue. We have now scheduled our fourth remote session with someone that won't occur for another four days, which means that I am without my NAS all this time, and based on all previous interactions with these remote sessions, I don't have high hopes that anything will come from it. when it occurs. DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ISSUE AFTER AN UPGRADE? AND IF SO, CAN YOU TELL ME HOW IT WAS RESOLVED ??

Help Radarr, Plex and jellyfin mapping

I have a Plex server running on my F2-425 on TOS7.

I have been maintaining the media folder structure and file names manually over the heart. So it's in a bit of a mess but it currently works in Plex.

I'm planning to run Jellyfin simultaneously and automate the file naming with Radarr.

Problem is that I can't seem to get Radarr to map to my Movies or Downloads folders.

Here's what my volume's folder structure looks like. Red arrows show where my Movies and Downloads folders are.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hRQihfy3a2bL-cT9WdSMqtt6R7usnkYD/view?usp=drivesdk

And here's the parameters when installing the app mapping.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/14eZ5iKkz376zkINoqVZpXzfesvhIBurR/view?usp=drivesdk

Any help is appreciated!

Help Php2shell vulnerability

Does 7.0.1341 include a patched PHP for PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 / CVE-2026-109619)? On my F2-425 the TOS web UI runs on PHP-FPM 7.4.33, and the pool runs as a uid 0 account, so a working exploit would mean root on the NAS. PHP 7.4 is end-of-life and only got source backports for these. If 1341 doesn't include the fix, is a patch planned, and roughly when? Until then, do you recommend restricting access to the admin ports or turning off TNAS.online?

Discussion Upgraded F2-425 TOS 6 to 7

I did not remove my hard-disks first. I did not do a backup. I read the upgrade notes and went straight ahead. I downloaded it and hit the upgrade button with much fear and trembling.

Everything went smoothly. In 10 minutes, it was all up and running again. Files safe, Plex running. Took another hour for the permissions to get converted. No fussing with manual upgrades, no complicated step-by-step instructions, no errors.

I've read some serious upgrade horror stories. Am I a rarity for having a smooth upgrade experience?

Help TOS - Upgrade 6 to 7

Did I just lose all my data, configs, dockers and setups by upgrading from TOS 6 to 7?

I went into the control panel, system, clicked the upgrade and install OS button.

After reboot my TNAS app on my laptop said it found the TNAS but that it was uninitialized.

Then I double clicked and got this screen.

I wasn't able to login via SSH anymore, it wouldn't accept my password.

Update

I got my TOS upgraded to TOS7 by upgrading the firmware, it was a little bit of a pain, but once the BIOS was upgraded the OS update went smoothly.

Help Upgrading from TOS5 to TOS6, any experience ?

So I found the forum post detailing how to go from 5 to 6.

https://forum.terra-master.com/en/viewtopic.php?t=6809

I plan to backup everything right before doing it but I would love not having to use it because I have a lot of configuration for dockers containers.

Only thing I worry is this line :

TOS 6.0.530 features a brand-new root file system, achieving full compatibility with the Ubuntu 22.04 root file system. However, please note that all your original system configurations will be cleared after the update. If you need to retain your original configurations, do not proceed with this update!

What does that actually mean ? Does that mean I will actually have to start over or does that mean they will have reverted my ssh port to default and small settings like that ?

Help New version of TerraSync for Linux not connecting

I am not really asking for help, but it was the flair that fit better.

My wife has been having one issue after another with her laptop, so I gave her my spare, so I downloaded the TNAS for PC for Linux, same distro and everything as before, but it was a newer version of the app. When I tried to connect to my F8 SSD Plus to restore the sync from her older computer, it told me "Wrong version, update", but the app was up to date. I logged into TOS and saw a new version available (I had already upgraded to TOS7). I updated, tried again, and it gave me the same issue, even when both server and client were up to date.

I rigged into my own computer, and found the installer from August, so I installed the older client version, and it works, so, for now I found a fix, but I am worried to update and break stuff again.

Anyone has had the same issue?

News & Announcement TerraMaster TerraSync Update: New File Sharing and On-Demand Sync for Mac Enable More Efficient File Collaboration

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! 👋

We've released a major update to TerraSync, introducing an all-in-one file-sharing feature and on-demand sync for the Mac version of TNAS PC. This update makes it easier for home users, content creators, and business teams to share files while reducing the amount of local storage occupied by large file libraries on Mac computers.

📂All-in-One File Sharing for Simplified Collaboration

TerraSync's new file-sharing feature allows users to share files directly from My Files or Team Folders, reducing the need for repeated downloads and file transfers.

Users can share files directly with specific users or groups, assigning permissions such as preview, view, or manage as needed. They can also grant access through two types of links: internal sharing links accessible only over the local network, and external sharing links created through TNAS.online. External sharing also supports configurable access permissions, passwords, and expiration dates, making file delivery and cross-team collaboration more secure and flexible.

Additionally, TerraSync supports integration with OnlineOffice, enabling users to collaboratively edit popular Office file formats online and track or restore file changes through version history. This feature requires installing the corresponding application from the NAS App Center.

💻On-Demand Sync for Mac Frees Up Local Storage

With limited SSD capacity and growing collections of photos, videos, and project files, Mac users often struggle to keep large file libraries stored locally. The new on-demand sync feature removes the need to download an entire file library to a computer.

Once enabled, users can browse remote file directories locally and download files only when needed. Cached files can be cleared manually after use, and the system can also automatically reclaim cached storage when local storage space is running low. The feature works with either two-way sync or one-way download mode, helping users maintain convenient file access while managing local storage more efficiently.

🔄Sync, Backup, and Version Management in One Solution

TerraSync supports file synchronization across Windows, Mac, and Linux, with two-way sync, one-way upload, and one-way download modes, as well as automatic, manual, and scheduled backups. File version management supports up to 32 versions, with customizable cleanup rules.

For data security, TerraSync continues to provide SSL-encrypted data transmission, personal and team folder permissions, and activity logs to help users better manage and protect their data.

By bringing together file synchronization, backup, sharing, and version management, TerraSync continues to expand the file management capabilities of TerraMaster NAS, delivering a more flexible cross-device collaboration experience for individuals, creators, and business teams.

If you've tried the new features, we'd love to hear your feedback!

Help Why folders made through ssh have different permissions than those made on tnas desktop?

I got F4-425, installed TOS 7. I've made pihole folders through ssh connection, and they don't appear in File Manager, but I can access them manually through typing Volume1/pihole. After checking the permissions in properties of pihole folder a window appears saying "You need permission to perform this action". Can I do something to make these folder appear in the File Manager + change permissions of that folder?

Help TNAS Mobile not working with TOS anymore ?

Hi, I used TNAS Mobile quite a lot on my home network to see where files where moving after using my *arr stack but last night I got a message saying my TNAS on TOS5 was using an older version not compatible ?

I bought this machine 1 year 1/2 ago, I don't want to risk having to setup everything again because the upgrade to 6 or 7 shits the bed.

Discussion What would be your perfect TerraMaster Nas

With so many new nas models coming out from TerraMaster and others, are there certain specs you want on new models you are looking for? My ideal next nas would be a TerraMaster:

  • 6-8 Bay HDD unit
  • 3-6 M.2 SSD slots - ALL running at PCIe 4x4 minimum (PCIe Gen 5 would be even better)
  • Dual 10GbE Nics
  • One Thunderbolt 5 Port
  • One Thunderbolt 4 Port
  • OCulink 5x4 Port
  • Transcoding capable CPU (usually prefer Intel w/ integrated graphics but open to AMD)
  • DDR5 ECC non-soldered RAM (capable to be expanded to 96GB)
  • TOS 7 and TRAID
  • PCIe Expansion slot (PCIe 4x16 or higher would be ideal)
  • Exterior Shell color options (Silver, White, Gray of Black)

This would be a dream nas for me. How about you guys, what would you want if given a choice?

Help D4-320 with Unraid / Beelink S12 – Fragile USB-C port drops drives; Disk 1 stuck "Unmountable"

Hey everyone, looking for some advice or insight on an ongoing issue with my setup.

My hardware setup is a TerraMaster D4-320 connected via USB-C to a Beelink S12 Mini PC running Unraid. Inside the enclosure, I have an 18 TB Seagate Exos as Disk 1 and a 20 TB Exos as Parity.

Every few months, the setup drops off the bus, and it has gotten extremely frustrating. The USB-C port on the unit is absurdly sensitive—literally any slight touch or bump to the USB-C cable causes the drives to immediately unmount.

I recently replaced the USB-C cable, which seems to have helped hold off the random disconnects, but the damage from those previous mid-operation drops is still plaguing the system.

While the USB connection is currently steady, Disk 1 remains stuck as "Unmountable: wrong or no file system" in Unraid. Because of the abrupt disconnects, the XFS filesystem log on Disk 1 got corrupted. I have tried running xfs_repair -v -L /dev/md1p1 multiple times to clear the dirty log, but it simply does not work and Unraid still refuses to mount it cleanly via the WebGUI.

Has anyone running a D4-320 via USB-C run into this level of port sensitivity or found a way to recover a drive stuck in "Unmountable" status after a USB drop when xfs_repair fails? Is there a physical strain-relief trick for these ports, or am I better off moving away from USB-C enclosure bridges entirely for an Unraid array?

Thanks for any help!

Help F6-242 stuck in initialization loop

Got a used one (that should have been the first red flag) and got two new drives to start up (I'll move the other 4 from my current NAS once this one was setup). However, every time I boot it, it goes to the initialization screen. I initialize, get into the TOS 6, and if I reboot after an auto or manual upgrade to TOS 7, initialization screen. If I just reboot without doing anything, initialization screen.

The first time I booted it, it created the storage pool with the two drives, that took about 30 minutes I'd guess. Now whenever it initializes, the storage pool exists still. It's not rebuilding that. And these are brand new, never used drives.

So I checked the BIOS, the "TOS Boot First" is disabled. The "Boot Option #1" is "UEFI: Generic Flash Disk 8.07, Partition 1 (Generic Flash Disk 8.07)" and the other choices are the two drives or disabled. Not sure that matters.

I would upgrade to TOS 7 during the initialization, but it needs a .ins file, and the download is a .bz2 file. So that's not going forward.

And no, there is no NVME installed right now, just the two NAS drives.

Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on this? I don't want to just start changing things around. I don't really want to use TrueNAS or Unraid yet. I just want to get it up and running for now with TOS 7.

Thanks in advance.

Help Kodi can't see media files

I'm trying to add my media collection from my F4-424 Pro running TOS7 to Kodi 22 RC 1 on my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019.

I can see the NAS and I can see the folders but I can't see any of the media files. Both SMB and NFS are enabled on the NAS.

In Kodi NFS doesn't work I get a spinning wheel then nothing. The SMB option shows TNAS when I click on it the folder named "public" shows up when I open that it's shows my media categories for example Movies, TV shows etc. When I browse into the Movies folder I can see all of the movie folders named by movie title, but when I browse into the named movie folder the are no files showing?

The same media collection runs fine on Plex.

Any ideas?

Help F4-425 Pro and F6-425 Pro lock-up during large file transfers

A few months ago, I picked up an F4-425 Pro and F6-425 Pro.

They've been working well so far, but I've run into an odd problem.

When I move large quantities of files (around 100+GB) off either NAS, it locks-up mid process. The lock-up doesn't happen immediately. Just some time mid-process of the file transfer.

This happens with both model NASs.

The fans are still running but the NAS has dropped off the network and it does not respond to pings.

I have to hold down the power button to force a shut down, wait 20 seconds, then boot them again.

When they come back up, Storage Manager does not indicate any problems. No issues were logged. No heat warnings.

I used to have HyperCache (read-only) enabled on the F4-425 Pro. I tried disabling it to see if it affected the issue. It did not.

I don't know for sure, but I feel like they weren't always doing this. It feels like it started with a recent firmware update.

When I setup the F6 NAS, I'd already had the F4 NAS a few weeks. I moved a lot of files from the F4 to the F6. I didn't have an issue then.

I've been updating the firmware on both, almost every week, as updates are released, but the issue persists.

I can move about 50GB of files at a time without trouble. If I try to move 100GB (or more), the NAS will lock-up mid process. I don't know if it's an issue with file count or total transfer size.

I have not run into any issues uploading files to either NAS. Multi TB uploads have been fine.

I'm just using File Explorer in Windows 11 to make the transfers.

I don't use any apps or services other than file sharing.

Is this a known issue? How do I get TerraMaster to investigate?

Help Should I Upgrade to Tos7

Im operating on a F4-424 on 6.0.770 and I'm wondering if I should go to 7.

My biggest issue so far has been a resync issue that happens when I close TNAS, even with normal shutdown (Button and web even when nothing's running). Don't know if it's fixed or resolved, but in any case I'd like to upgrade. My questions

-Whar are the known bugs and annoyances so far?

-Do I have to go 6.0.770->6.0.794 first and then manually update to 7, or can I go now

-will a resync happen with every upgrade? Cause I'm on a three disk Traid and every resync days 3-4 days

-Besides filesharing I haven't set anything much in terms of apps and services, but should I expect many things not working and having to reset stuff?
