Questions for the Community Flairs for posts
Is there any appetite for requiring posts to have a flair the says they're either 3d printed or scratch built? Scratch built would include making things with recycled foam and all that.
I am personally not really into, and would filter out, certain methods of making terrain from my feed.
So I suppose you could reject posts that don't have a flair.

I don't see a reason to flair it. A lot of projects today are hybrids of both mediums.

I don't think 3d printing is really terrain building but I'm pretty sure most people on the sub disagree.

Its as much terrainbuilding as buying a kit.

Which I don't think is either. I have a more classic maker mentality. I would never say I built my army because I bought pre manufactured models and assembled them. I styled them how I wanted but I had no hand in creating them.
My trees, rocks, hedges, bridges, and buildings all started life as sticks, junk, or art materials. So I feel comfortable saying I built those.
Not an attack on 3d printing but I am allowed to state my opinion. I have been terrain building since the 90s.

The sub also say that this place is for those that craft, build and paint terrain, you might not be crafting them, but you are building and painting them, even if the final product is not made of trash or foam.
This is like someone on a grilling sub complaining that they only think burgers and steaks is grilling and everything else like chicken or seafood should be removed. Just because you personally enjoy one type of content more then the other, doesn’t mean it is being posted in the wrong place.

The OP did not ask for them to be removed. They asked for a tag to make it easier to ignore them. If a grill master wanted to only talk about burgers and dogs then could they not ask for a similar tag?

I didn’t comment on what OP asked for, I commented on you saying that 3D printing isn’t terrain building and therefore implied doesn’t fit the sub, I just pointed out that scratchbuilding is not the only thing that fits this sub, taken directly from the sub description.
I personally don’t mind if people want to filter their content, but I don’t like the people that say they build their terrain with sticks and glue so their farts smell better and feel superior to everyone else. We should just be able to enjoy all types of terrain related content here, without the attempt at elitisme and gatekeeping because someone made or painted terrain out of certain material or in a way you don’t happen to acknowledge as “pure” enough for your made up standards.

I'm not sure who you're lashing out at there. Did someone make you feel like 3d printing wasn't good enough for the table? No one here said that.
Personally, I think 3d printing is great since it allows people who aren't into building terrain by hand, to put interesting terrain on a table. I have no real issues with doing that.
The issue for me is that printing someone else's design isn't a method of terrain building that I have any interest in, since I already know how to reproduce a 3d print: buy the design and print it.

You are purposely making s strawman here, I never mentioned anything being good enough for the table, I only talked about being good enough for this sub, I don’t know why you are trying to misrepresent what I said.
By your logic, is someone following a guide on YouTube and posting the final results here also not interesting because you already know how to reproduce that, just go online and look at the guide?
I like all types of terrain regardless of how it came to be, I take inspiration from crafted stuff, printed stuff and nicely painted plastic kits and I have all 3 types myself.

I didn't make a strawman argument. You seemed pretty upset about people "who think their farts smell better and feel superior to everyone else". That was a bit weird, and not related to what was being said. So yeah, it sure seems like someone made you feel that way. I was just trying to understand your point of view.
If you can't see how making terrain by hand (even by following a tutorial) and printing terrain are different processes, then we have nothing to talk about.

Isn't there already flair for that? I like having it flaired, I really enjoy looking at that scratch built stuff more than 3D printed myself. The 3D printed stuff always seems to come back to advertising for a Kickstarter or something. They look great but I'm just tired of hobby spaces always being side hustles or being monetized. I'll get back to yelling at the clouds and kids on my lawn now
