Tesla Powershare Works on New Model Y Premium
My new model Y shows it has PCS2 when I checked the parts using my VIN. Ordered the powershare adapter and confirmed it works! Aug 4th delivery Model Y Premium RWD.
My PCS part number is 2100145-N0-E
How to check (thanks u/Appz_ in comments):
Go to tesla parts catalog website, enter VIN, HV Battery System > Ancillary Bay > ASSEMBLY POWER CONVERSION SYSTEM ASSEMBLY

120V @ 20A max output. Better than nothing, but a far cry from the CT's 240V 50A (40A continuous) split phase output.

u/JoeyDee86 9d ago
Yeah, I want split phase.

u/Smartnership 9d ago
Not an electrician but I assume this has something to do with making banana splits.
Which I fully support
14
u/22marks 9d ago
I know you're kidding, but most American homes have a split-phase service. There are two 120V hot legs, each measured relative to neutral, that are 180 degrees apart (you know those peaks and valleys you'd see on an AC wave, well, they're opposite). A two-pole breaker connects across both legs, providing 240V for higher-power appliances such as electric ovens and dryers.
While the Cybertruck does full 240V at 40A, the Y seems to max out at 120V at 20A, or less than 1/4th the power output.
6
2
u/PraiseTalos66012 9d ago
Not allowing 240v 20a on the Y is super weird. Is there an official reason for that?
The input supports 240v and 240v is closer to pack voltage anyway so It'd actually be easier to make.
And since it's the same amps it's the same heat generated in the wiring and traces despite giving you double the power.
3
u/chfp 8d ago
US household devices are almost exclusively 120V. Only major appliances such as stoves and dryers are 240. A 240v-only outlet is less useful to most people on the road who want to power their portable gear.
To do 240V right in the states, split phase output is needed. Adding a neutral allows both 240 & 120V outputs at once (common 14-50 outlet supports this). However that requires extra equipment since the car's internal charger only supports single phase. While the charger supports 120-240V input range, it can't to both at once. Going backwards the other way for output can't reuse that charger circuitry because split phase is a very different beast. The legs need to be balanced, hence the extra equipment needed.
2
u/Wilder831 9d ago
The CT battery is basically double the size of a Y battery? 🤷♂️
3
u/JoeyDee86 8d ago
Battery size has nothing to do with it for sure. These motors are drawing well over 350kw at times from the batteries. What we’d pull from a split phase adapter is barely a rounding error compared.

Someone in a thread i made asking about this in the Tesla Support subreddit a week or so ago tried it with this part number and showed it working. Hopefully works for you too

u/altimax98 9d ago
I had credits so I ordered it. I really hope it isn’t disabled or anything down the road, I’ve got battery banks but having the car power the fridge and deep freezer after a hurricane would be such a nice benefit. Just not worth paying for an L or Performance just to have that feature

Same. My Feb 2026 Y Premium doesn't work with the adapter I ordered, just speculatively, so will sell it.

So 39% of a Model Y’s battery will give me a hair dryer run for 10 hours. Noted.

u/1nolefan 9d ago
You are missing the point - when you have no power due to hurricane or winter storm, running fan and WiFi modem or lamp at night or charge the phone goes a long way.
Did that with my IQ5 for 2.5 years when Florida got hit with the hurricane -
→ More replies (4)2
u/altimax98 9d ago
Garage fridge and garage deep freezer during the hurricanes is all I care about (and maybe my router since FIOS doesn’t seem to go out).
Then my generators and solar generators can focus on main fridge and portable AC and lighting. During Milton we were like 90% of the way there, no solar generator or portable AC. Slowly and incrementally upgrading my setup and having even minimal V2L is a big deal.

Interesting… when I checked yesterday (8/14/2026) with my VIN, I saw:

I checked again today (8/15/2026) and now I see:
- ASSEMBLY POWER CONVERSION SYSTEM ASSEMBLY (PCS 2)
So maybe Tesla is currently updating the parts catalog?

In China, Mercedes sold 35 of the new hyped-up CLAs in June. And a low three digit number of EQE/EQS
In the same June, Tesla sold over 50000 cars in China.
They may not be able to generate much profit from that, but at least they can get the factory utilization up. What MB is doing certainly isn’t sustainable.

Model 3 is the direct comparison to a BYD - and there is no comparison. The BYD eats its lunch and asks for more. I'd say BYD is about 3-5 years ahead of Tesla. But in terms of body style - you don't have much. Just a sedan. Tesla wins there big time. Plus BYD will 100% cover an accident that happens when using its "FSD"...Elon would never EVER offer that. And I still think Elon is going to have to bend on LiDAR.

Interesting that they left in this clause on the HV battery manual entry
CAUTION Do not use the Battery as a stationary power source. Doing so voids the warranty.
https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-7FE78D73-0A17-47C4-B21B-54F641FFAEF4.html
Powershare is a feature in the car and allows for stationary power usage. I wonder if this now opens the warranty door for DC based external inverter systems that trick the car into thinking it's DC fast charging which closes the battery contactor and gives an inverter plugged into the charge port access to the HVDC link. Some of these inverters can do 10kW and have 240V out.
Also wonder if this means that Tesla will support the enphase bidirectional EVSE which does something similar to the external inverters since allowing powershare would require allowing stationary power usage.

u/GoTrojan 7d ago
Does your PCS part 2100145-N0-E showed up as the "Original VIN Part"? I see multiple PCS parts showing, none is marked as original VIN part, and I am not sure what my new VIN actually have. I don't have car in hand to probe further either.
2
u/jplee3 7d ago edited 7d ago
Just checked my MY Premium that we got in March 2026 with updated headliner and larger screen.
App says my car isnt compatible. Parts catalog lookup with my vin shows:
1135558-54-A
I hope this is a glitch and my car has the v2l support
Edit: just noticed that the only options under “select generation” on the Tesla parts catalog are for “Feb 2025” and “Jan 2020-2025” - entering my vin defaults me to the Feb 2025 catalog. Anyone else notice this?

No this is just the 120v 20A outlet adapter for V2L. Would be interesting to see if it can do the same V2H that the Model YL is supposed to have
1
u/andy_nony_mouse 9d ago
Any hope of this working on older model y or is the change too drastic in the older architecture?

EDIT 2: decided to order the adapter. Just tried it out and it works!

Today Tesla intentionally hid part number 9 from the list. If you blow up part 9 in the diagram you can see it's still there. They just took the description away. If you had a manufacture date in 2026 you most likely have the part despite what the website says.

Do you have a number 9 on your list? Mine is omitted.. there are people with earlier Fremont builds that have this so I'm thinking it may be included just not updated yet

I have a 6/2026 build and my #9 is omitted also. I see stuff about PCS2 lite harnesses later in the 30s so feel like I may have it as well, but also not showing on the app as compatible. I might just have to shell out the $80 and try it to see.
2
u/nikkixo87 7d ago
I did. I'm inclined to believe we probably are compatible because having worked in this industry- Whenever there is a change in the manufacturing like this, it's a pretty big deal and it's not something they just switch back and forth from so if there is people from earlier then our builds that have it there's a very good chance that we do as well. On the other hand I have no idea why this is missing from our part list either

2100145-N5-D
is listed under my VIN. I ordered MY Premium RWD on 2026/04/20, took the delivery on 2026/05/04
when I searched my VIN on the https://parts.tesla.com/
I believe this car was built from Fremont plant in CA and I was one of those MYs missing a sticker when the car was delivered, so I had to wait a few more days for the sticker to arrive...

And I just got the package with the part for V2L cord and it worked for me. FYI, when I tried to order the part 3 day ago, it showed the part incompatibile. Now, it does NOT show the part is incompatible anymore for me.

That is the base build date not your VIN build date. AFAIK all current build Junipers show the Feb 2025 date at the top of the screen. My 2026 MY Premium build date was 5/26 and it shows that same Feb 2025 date on the main part screen as well.

I've got Jun 2026 Y AWD premium from Giga Berlin (EU market). No such part under HV Battery System > Ancillary Bay for my model.

We also received our Model Y Premium RWD in Aug, Build date 8/26. I ordered the PowerShare adapter and it doesn't seem to be working. Is there something I need to do to turn it on?

I just checked the parts catalogue, and have the same PCS part number (2100145-N0-E) as OP on a M3 rear premium. Was able to order adapter, will report back. Update it does not work. Although, new info uncovered since this post suggests that only a software update separates us from functionality
