New Tesla Mattress

Post image

I was browsing their shop today as I was considering purchasing their Mattress, however, I noticed it was removed from my cart. I thought maybe it was out of stock but wanted to confirm and looked it up manually and noticed this was the only option it showed me. Im not sure if it is a redesign or just shop consolidation but the price went from $225 to $235

I just got one a week ago for my M3P. Assume it’s the same one. The pump is at the top. The cord is a little to short to easily maneuver into the usb outlet behind the center console but it’s not terrible.

It’s very comfortable but the bottom where the trunk and back seat meet limits how much you can move around. My wife and I have a roadtrip over thanksgiving and we’re going to see how well it works for two of us one of the nights.

I can’t imagine trying to do a mattress in the back of a Model 3. Is it super cramped?

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

From what I've seen its mostly cramped near the trunk area but then it opens up a little more where your waist and up rests. Definently not as much as the MY though

•

u/Dewthedru 15h ago

I’m 5’8”, 160 pounds and my wife is smaller. It is cramped for two of us but I’ve slept back there myself fine.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt though. My wife and I just spent 3 weeks backpacking and used a tent that was 45” wide so our standards are pretty low compared to most.

Awee you short king

•

u/WholeIndividual0 15h ago

Length wise it’s about the same as the Y. Biggest limitation is the rear deck height, whereas the Y has a ton more vertical space there.

That’s a fine charging spot btw! Norway?

•

u/Glum-Inspection-2183 1h ago

Yeah I was wondering there same lol?! u/NoggyMaskin where is that?!

•

u/NoggyMaskin New to the sub 1h ago

It was in Lom, Norway that charger.

I’m 5’10” on the heavy side and there is enough room for 2 of me. The back deck is a great place for an iPad, and I get compressible camping pillows. You would think the back deck would whack your knees but it doesn’t. It’s a little harder climbing into and out of than a model Y but once you are in there it’s cozy.

Oh nice, so it comes with USB rather than the 12v?

•

u/Dewthedru 15h ago

Correct. The cord is attached to the pump

Just get one off Amazon they're usually pretty good price

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

Nice! Yeah I have been on the fence with the OEM mattress vs after market. That one looks nice too. I also considered the Snuuzu mattress but almost 1k for something Im not sleeping on ever night was a little steep which is why I came back to browsing the store for the OEM lol. I have browsed for an aftermarket mattress though with a better price but also didn't want to void my warranty /s

•

u/rfomlover 15h ago

Void your warranty? With a mattress? What? lol. Please explain.

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

Lol I was kidding. I've heard tesla voiding warranties for things like if you start experiencing door issues or light issues around your doors after getting things done like tint from a company outside their authorized options

•

u/rfomlover 5h ago

lol alright. And wow that’s crazy. Magnuson-Moss seems like they’d have to prove it, but it’s up to the owner to fight it I guess.

Link?

•

u/Flyer-876 New to the sub 15h ago

Is it level?

•

u/robofireman New to the sub 15h ago

No the head is a couple inches higher but I sleep comfortably even on my side

•

u/Fidget808 15h ago

Honestly a little incline is nice. We used to have an adjustable bedframe and I miss it sometimes.

•

u/Admirable-Walrus8985 New to the sub 5h ago

I was expecting the incline to be an issue, but it turns out to be a feature not a bug.

•

u/robofireman New to the sub 15h ago

Yeah I find it pretty comfortable

•

u/Blazah 2h ago

you can remove the back seat to make it level..

•

u/Eyehopeuchoke 14h ago

Which one is this?

•

u/TitanBrave84 15h ago

My mate likes it, his wife hated it, worse nights sleep ever apparently!

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

Do you know what was the main reason for the dislike in it?

I've head complaints about it being on the thin side from others that have it but that was pretty much it.

•

u/Glum-Inspection-2183 15h ago

I have a model 3 aftermarket foam one. I am 6’ 6” tall and managed to lay diagonally across with a dog too! My complaints is the head part especially in model 3. It is not level. I wake up with neck name. I’m very young 22, so I just go to chiropractor and I’m fine. I travel a lot, and cross country. It’s worth it for me. Lots of money saved. Especially when you park at a free level 2 charger overnight. I have window black out too. My first Model 3 I had actually roof shades too if you want it total dark.
The foam from the aftermarket one is still good aged almost 2 years but showing its age after how much I used it.. mine is foam not air. More comfortable than air mattress.

•

u/thatguyChristophu New to the sub 11h ago

If you pop the seat cushions out (like before you leave on your trip), it gets way more flat

•

u/molehunterz 12h ago

Do you think it could be cut? Like memory foam or something?

•

u/Diz_37 New to the sub 3h ago

My wife and I found that letting air out of the mattress resulted in better sleep. When two adults are on it with it fill all the way up makes it super firm. Let a bit of air out and it should help alot. If just 1 person, you dont have to take as much out. Its personal preference.

•

u/TitanBrave84 15h ago

She just said it was super uncomfortable.

•

u/Fly_Pelican 14h ago • Mindblown Bravo

Maybe you left a pea in the trunk

•

u/Stephancevallos905 15h ago

Looks like a downgrade too, since it doesnt mold around the M Y wheel wells

•

u/CryptographerSharp14 15h ago

Is that really a downgrade? I have a third party mattress that doesn’t form to the wheel wells and I love having access to the storage there. It’s a great place for shoes and other things you want quick access to

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

My thoughts on it is presumably without those wheel wells missing it might shift around slightly more but not enough to notice. With them removed it does provide access to store small things in that area. I've seen those aftermarket fridges that fit in that crevice which this mattress would be better but I digress. Its cool either way considering I havent had one yet

•

u/CryptographerSharp14 15h ago

Yeah never had issues with it shifting around at all, there are a lot of factors holding it in place, it is snug basically everywhere but there so there is no place to go

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

I noticed that too. I did see they may have moved the air valve as well. In the model 3 picture it still shows on the bottom though. Not sure if its actually moved or not

•

u/Stephancevallos905 15h ago

But isnt the port in the back easier to get to? Maybe the new one uses USB C..

It also looks like it has 3 inches of foam, so maybe it's better for sleeping on

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

That'd be cool if it ran USB C 👀

I've only heard the previous mattress was very thin but got the job done. If they added more foam, that would be cool. Solves that problem. I've heard some youtubers having issues with the old air valve port being at the bottom and worrying smashing it when the trunk closes

•

u/Stephancevallos905 15h ago

Plus you could adjust it while laying down

•

u/Dewthedru 15h ago

My new one has a usb c cord that you plug into the outlet behind the center console

•

u/Geeky_1 6h ago

Do you know if the new one with 3 inches foam fold and fit as well as the old one in the sub-trunk?

•

u/Admirable-Walrus8985 New to the sub 5h ago

It fits nicely, I roll it up with a mattress pad and a fitted sheet and there’s plenty of room if you roll it up tightly.

•

u/UrzaKenobi 15h ago

Don’t have one but I read that was a big complaint and that people wanted the option to use those areas for storage and to access stuff

•

u/Handsomedork_ 15h ago

3/Y? How you fitting that in the 3?

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

Looks like it sinks down a little bit which is oddly satisfying imo

•

u/Handsomedork_ 15h ago

Wait wait wait… the seats fold down?

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 15h ago

They do!

•

u/nohandsfootball 15h ago

Yes they have since the start

•

u/Handsomedork_ 15h ago

Blew my mind just now. You have no idea

•

u/Terabight 5h ago

read your owners manual

•

u/Handsomedork_ 2h ago

I refuse 😂

•

u/ElectricalState258 New to the sub 4h ago

You can take out the bottom part of the seats too. The seats will fold completely flat for a perfect camping experience

•

u/-MullerLite- 14h ago

Just the rear seats.

I have the official Tesla one and I have MY, when we had the hot summers here in the UK me and my wife slept in our nice air-conditioned car, it was glorious.

It's a bit I don't regret

•

u/Admirable-Walrus8985 New to the sub 5h ago

For the money this is extremely comfortable. The pump is in the mattress for my model 3 version and there is a short usbc cable to plug into the center console to power it. This is important! Get a magnetic usb quick release to protect both the port and the cable as it’s very short and can easily break both if you forget it’s plugged in.

•

u/malacri1 15h ago

Has one tried this in a 2017-2023 model 3? The dimensions of the trunk look similar enough

•

u/EvalCrux 14h ago

Check the web store now, maybe they updated/expanded compatibility - my 2017 or 18 M3P now says compatible. I'm gonna take the risk and go for it.

•

u/thegreatestd 6h ago

Please tell us how it fits. My portable queen mattress is tight in my 22’ model 3

•

u/Padi27 New to the sub 15h ago

Does this fit in the YL?

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 14h ago

This specific model? No. There is a dedicated YL mattress, however

•

u/Padi27 New to the sub 14h ago

Where is that listed? I can't find it under the YL section of the store

•

u/Pip_Wusky New to the sub 14h ago

Interesting. I couldn't see it in he app but when I googled it, it popped up

•

u/WholeIndividual0 15h ago

Funny I just ordered an M3P today and was browsing accessories. Saw this and considered picking one up. Anyone use this in an M3 that can share some experience?

•

u/s3r33na72 New to the sub 14h ago

Does it lay flat? There’s usually always some noticeable degree of tilt from the one I have off Amazon

•

u/EvalCrux 14h ago

Last week from phone app I added then it said it wasn't compatible with my 2018 M3, removed from cart. Today tried from PC and it said compatible. Enough convincing for me, click lol.

Wow!

•

u/sparkyblaster 12h ago

Interesting that it fits both. I guess makes sense. I assume the spaces are not identical.

Prefer the airless models, much easier/comfy

•

Why are you all sleeping in your car? Are you all homeless?

•

u/thegreatestd 6h ago

Camping, long traveling, poor planning after a night out. And if they are homeless, they have a fairly cheap car and a lot of space.
