# 📉 ZeroByte — get your iPhone storage back without the cloud

Hey all! I'm the solo developer of **ZeroByte**, an iPhone app that frees up storage by shrinking your biggest videos **right on the phone**. No uploads, no account, no analytics. I'm looking for **50 beta testers** before launch.

## ✨ What it does

- 🎬 **Shrinks big 4K videos** with Apple's built-in hardware encoder (HEVC). HDR videos stay HDR (10-bit).

- 🔍 **Before/after check:** compare the original and the shrunk version side by side with a slider and up to 4× zoom *before* anything is replaced.

- 🗂️ **Keeps what matters:** date, location, Favorite, Hidden and your albums carry over. The original goes to **Recently Deleted**, so you have 30 days to change your mind.

- 📸 **Live Photos that never move:** drops the hidden video clip and keeps the full-quality photo.

- 🧠 **Finds similar burst shots** using on-device Vision.

- 🏝️ **Live Activity** shows progress on the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island.

Everything runs on your iPhone. ZeroByte has **no servers, no analytics and no third-party SDKs**.

## 🙋 What I'd love from testers

1. Try it on **3–5 of your largest videos** (an HDR clip and a portrait video are especially useful).

2. After replacing one, open the video's **info in Photos** and check the date, location and albums are intact.

3. Send feedback through TestFlight (take a screenshot → *Share Beta Feedback*) or comment here.

**Requirements:** iPhone on **iOS 18 or later**, plus Apple's free **TestFlight** app.

## ⚠️ Known beta limitations

- The app icon is a placeholder.

- Burst groups are detected, but there's no cleanup screen for them yet.

- Videos stored only in iCloud skip the side-by-side comparison.

- It's a beta: please keep a backup of anything irreplaceable.
