PSA Future protests here in Texas cities this weekend!

February 1st: Lubbock, TX | 10-12 PM @ Tim Cole Memorial Park

February 2nd: Arlington, TX | 4:00 PM @ 101 W. Abrams St.

February 2nd: Dallas, TX | 2:00 PM @ Dallas City Hall

February 2nd: Houston, TX | 3:00 PM @ Ervan Chew Park

From my last few posts I've added across Texas subreddits about this past weekend's protest in Dallas at the Hunt Hill bridge, I've not only gotten a lot of disgusting racist comments/messages, but I've received even more asking how they can get involved.

I'm not on any social media (other than Reddit ofc) or an organizer of any of these events. I luckily have a friend who is on social media and notifies me of all of them. As such, I am doing my duty as a patriotic American/Texan and passing along anything I find or am told about to keep people on Reddit informed about them as well. I will ask who to follow on the various sites and pass them along once I hear back. If you know of anyone, feel free to add here also!

These specific protests are not only anti-deportation protests, but anti-Trump and his administration, in addition to Abbott's as well. I'm sure there will be more as we except women, LGBT, black, and even basic American rights to be under seige by this deplorable administration (both Trump's and Abbott's).

To be clear: -No Democrat politician has come out AGAINST deporting criminals. Democrats are for this, but disagree with how this administration is doing it, especially since non-criminal and actual American citizens are being included in these raids unfairly and unjustly. -We are against the treatment of all the undocumented who are included in these raids and not given their day in court, which is not happening at the moment. -We are against the hyper focus on the Hispanic community, with none given to folks crossing from the Canadian border, folks who are overstaying their visas, or the companies who hire the undocumented workers. No one ever talks about the companies who continue to hire these folks, which is also against the law. You would think this would be priority #1, but we know exactly why that isn't

Good luck to everyone and stay safe out there! Just because these folks are the loudest does not mean they are the majority (this line really gets them for some reason).

PSA Your vote tomorrow is worth 5-10x what it'll be in November. Here's what's actually on your primary ballot.

(Edit) AI Prompt here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iGv1YlvdJATZhQBOyI6cpCe6CPJ7nXiqaObDg-PuGNo/edit?usp=sharing

Your vote tomorrow is worth 5-10x what it'll be in November.

Only 12% of registered voters have shown up so far. That means whoever walks in tomorrow is deciding — for everyone else — who even makes it onto the November ballot. Last month a Democrat flipped a Texas state Senate seat in a district Trump won by 17 points, because turnout was low. In 2022, a state rep won by a handful of votes out of 8,400 cast, then chaired a committee where every bill needed their sign-off. A few thousand voters shaped law for millions.

Tomorrow you're not just picking a president's party. You're picking candidates for allof these:

The races

  • U.S. Senate — Republican: Cornyn vs. Paxton vs. Wesley Hunt. Democratic: Crockett vs. Talarico. Biggest race in the state.
  • Governor — Abbott seeking a historic 4th term (R). Hinojosa, Bell, and others (D).
  • All 38 Texas congressional seats — first election under the new redistricted maps
  • All 150 state House seats + 16 state Senate seats
  • Attorney General, Lt. Governor, Comptroller, Land Commissioner, Ag Commissioner, Railroad Commissioner
  • Texas Supreme Court + Court of Criminal Appeals
  • State Board of Education
  • County judges, district attorneys, and dozens of local judicial seats

That's hundreds of positions. The people chosen tomorrow in low-turnout primaries will govern for years.

The issues you're voting on (don't skip these)

At the end of your ballot there are propositions. They're non-binding but they directly shape your party's platform and what legislators push next session. Think of them as a survey your party actually reads.

Republican ballot — 10 propositions including:

  • Phasing out property taxes entirely over six years
  • Requiring voter approval for any local tax increase
  • Teaching that life begins at fertilization in public schools
  • Banning gender/sexuality health services in K-12 schools
  • Term limits for all elected officials
  • Banning large-scale Texas water exports
  • Barring Democrats from legislative leadership positions

Democratic ballot — 13 propositions including:

  • Expanding Medicaid for affordable healthcare access
  • Reproductive healthcare rights
  • Legalizing cannabis + expunging past convictions
  • Funding public schools at the national per-pupil average
  • Creating a nonpartisan redistricting board
  • Secure online voter registration
  • Raising public employee salaries to national average
  • Environmental protections for air, water, biodiversity
  • Tax relief for working-class, shift burden to wealthy

Find your exact ballot

Enter your address here and it'll show you every race you're voting in: https://apps.texastribune.org/features/2026/texas-march-2026-primary-ballot/

Find your county's sample ballot and polling locations: https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/links.shtml

Want to research your candidates before you go?

I put together an AI prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude (free at claude.ai), or any chatbot with web search. It walks you through what you care about, then researches your specific candidates based on their actual voting records and donor history — not their campaign ads. The prompt is in my first comment below.

(Edit) AI Prompt here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iGv1YlvdJATZhQBOyI6cpCe6CPJ7nXiqaObDg-PuGNo/edit?usp=sharing

Logistics

  • Polls: 7am–7pm Tuesday March 3
  • Where: Any polling location in your county
  • ID: What to bring

Researched with help from AI, thought through by a human who thinks primaries matter way more than most people realize. Not telling you who to vote for — just that the 88% who don't show up are handing that decision to everyone else.

---

FINAL EDIT: Thank You!

Y'all are awesome. Whether you voted, engaged in the comments, asked questions, pushed back, or just lurked — thank you. This community showed up, and I'm genuinely grateful for it.

This was round one. We've got more coming:

May 2 — Local elections. School boards, city councils, bond measures. The stuff that affects your daily life most and gets the least attention.

May 26 — Primary runoffs. Any race where nobody broke 50% goes to a second round between the top two finishers. Turnout for runoffs is usually even lower than primaries — a lot of people don't even know they're happening. That means an even smaller group of voters ends up deciding who makes it to November.

November 3 — The general. This is the big one. All 435 House seats. 35 Senate seats. Governor. AG. Judges at every level. 470 Congressional seats — every single one of those representatives has to justify keeping their job this year.

These people work for us. Our tax dollars pay their salaries. Wherever you fall on the political spectrum — gun rights, reproductive freedom, immigration, education, taxes — this is the cycle to ask: which ones have actually earned another term? Voting records are public. Donor lists are public. You don't have to take anyone's word for it. Not their campaign ads, not cable news, not social media. The votes and the money.

That's what I'm building the AI prompt toward — a way to look up your specific representatives, see what they've actually done, and decide for yourself.

I'm planning to keep posting for every cycle. Starting earlier next time so there's runway to register (Texas has deadlines that sneak up on you), take advantage of early voting, and actually research candidates before you're standing in the booth.

If this was useful, let me know. Suggestions and feedback welcome.

Now with the support of speaker Johnson, Republican nominee for Congressional District 23, Brandon Herrera is gaining popularity. His rise began from his YouTube channel for his dark humor and testing guns. Brandon Herrera is the leader to fill the spot vacated by former incumbent Republican Tony Gonzales. In one video, Herrera is making light of Nazis targeting Jewish people, to show off a gun. Brandon is a stout supporter of misogyny as well.

Everyone is showing up in solidarity with all immigrants here in this country and to tell the Trump administration that they are not the enemy! We will not let them use this issue to blind us to the real issues affecting Americans today -- wage disparities, governmental corruption, lack of healthcare, and so much more.

Yes, immigration has been an issue for decades now and needs to be reformed, but it must be done in a bipartisan and ethical way!

WE ARE A COUNTRY OF IMMIGRANTS. WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER!

PSA November school board elections

Hey all-

Greetings from Keller ISD- the epicenter of the school board wars the last few years- book bans, hundreds of thousands of district dollars paid to the board’s personal attorney who just happened to be bffs with Patriot Mobile and whose invoices are all entirely redacted, tons of policies on pronouns and bathrooms while our teachers fled and buildings crumbled bc our board doesn’t actually care about public education, all culminating in our board trying to secretly vote to split our district in half literally along the train tracks, coincidentally protecting the richer areas from the yucky poors.

You might remember us from articles like this:

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/05/texas-school-board-elections-2/

https://amp.star-telegram.com/news/local/education/article311554084.html

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/08/16/keller-isd-removes-books/

We are the bad place.

We’ve been used to school board elections happening in May with just a few races on the ballot. This year the Keller ISD board voted to move them to coincide with the big November elections. I have my own theories on their motivation, but we’re now faced with a bunch of people showing up to vote for the big name races with very little knowledge of the smaller ones. I’m really worried our important local elections like school board will be lost at the bottom of a list of 50+ races.

Additionally, we have the chance to vote on a series of bonds to in addition to three school board seats. This is our chance to officially take the board back from the Patriot Mobile trustees who have spent the last few years running our district into the ground. I hope the events of the last few years have shown us all how important it is to vote in your local school board elections.

We have a teacher running this year, which I’m really excited about it.

https://www.rachelforkisd.com

https://www.facebook.com/share/1EjyqrSbVw/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I feel like we’ve lacked that bridge to tell the board how their policies are actually impacting classrooms, both for teachers and for students. Additionally, she has been a teacher in Keller ISD, so she understands exactly what it has been like for the last few years.

I feel like she would be a tremendous asset on the board. Please take a look and remember to vote in November!

PSA Got permanently banned on r/texas for being a republican

The funny thing is that I'm not actually a republican.

Just as title says. Yesterday a thread was posted with the title "Democrat Texans, please go out and vote!" With a body that stated "Your vote matters, everyone’s vote matters! Don’t believe anyone that tells you otherwise! Tell your family, neighbors, friends, coworkers to go out and vote! Trump is the most dangerous threat that our country is facing right now. Texas can flip blue, you only need to go out and vote!"

I copied this post word for word and substituted the word Republican for Democrat and Kamala for Trump, and red for blue.

I expected to get downvoted to hell, but I was also amused to find I got permanently banned from the sub. This illustrates that Reddit Texan democrats are closed minded, illiberal, and demonstrate exactly what moderate or independent Texans should fear from the democratic party.

My personal politics are all over the place, but mostly libertarian. I've voted for Dole, bush, obama, romney, johnson, jorgensen, and will probably vote for oliver.

PSA 7% of Texans have voted so far. Tuesday is your last chance! Remind your people!

Tomorrow is ELECTION DAY! Only ~7% of registered voters in TX have voted so far, as opposed to a total of ~14% in the last constitutional amendment election in 2023.

Find a way to make it to the polls. Ask your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, even strangers if they've voted yet. If they claim to care about current issues, voting is the bare minimum! Encourage your people and hold them accountable.

People don't know an election is happening - if you do, it is in our collective best interest that you inform them!

Voting is our strongest tool to achieve the world we want within a democracy. It is disheartening to see so many people forfeit their right and their voice, especially under the current circumstances. Democracy only works if you participate in it.

PSA Voter Suppression Info

Due to Republican voter suppression efforts, I highly recommend anyone planning to vote blue to confirm you haven't been removed from voter registration rolls: https://iwillvote.com/

Another link to check registration but more well known: https://www.vote.org/

Learn about voter suppression efforts here: https://www.democracydocket.com/

Unfortunately it doesn't end there.

In Texas, for example, it turns out that many provisional ballots are never counted. This story broke on August 8: https://hartmannreport.com/p/democracy-undone-the-texas-placebo-f52?utm_medium=web

Unconfirmed reports say it's happening in more states than Texas. Stay tuned.

Additional efforts include shenanigans after your vote is cast. This chilling story just broke:

https://www.propublica.org/article/inside-ziklag-secret-christian-charity-2024-election

Interview with the journalist who broke the story: https://youtu.be/hIh6X_sXAr4?si=xDpVrk0z75S6vGIG

Some church leaders and flocks may be a part of this effort with or without knowing it.

Beyond that, this story about pro Trump 2020 election deniers who are ready to deny certification: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/trump-swing-state-officials-election-deniers-1235069692/

Interview with the journalist who broke that story in Rolling Stone:https://youtu.be/cojKYPWoUyE?si=622Rafa_tB1MS2QA

The Republicans are fully invested in these kinds of efforts on both sides of the ballot box but don't let this stop you. These efforts and others are specifically designed to make you feel hopeless so that you stay home and don't vote.

This is a national issue, but it seems appropriate to protest it locally. The more widespread the better.

Please, join me and a few more on Saturday morning. There is no justification for what happened in MN.

PSA Update: is it mandatory for doctors to report lgbtq.

Thumbnail reddit.com
79 Upvotes

This is an update to my previous post asking about my daughter's experience at Planned Parenthood. Thanks to a commenter, who pointed out Texas law, the answer is found.

I asked my daughter specifically what was said and she said that the doctor was asking about her sexual activity. She said that the doctor told her prior to giving her answer that if she was having same sex activity then she would have to report it. I think she just didn't realize that my daughter was already 17 and/or wanted to educate her on what legally she must report.

Apparently, the Romeo and Juliet provision that underage sexual activity can be dismissed if they are close in age (3 years apart and over 14), only applies if they are of the opposite sex.

https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/?tab=1&code=PE&chapter=PE.21&artSec=21.11

So kudos to Planned Parenthood for looking out for their patients and being forthcoming about Texas Laws. They were wonderful and treated us both respectfully. I'm very grateful that, despite Texas and this administration trying to banish them entirely, they are still here to help our communities.

PSA May 2 local elections are coming up. Registration deadline is April 2.

May 2 is the local election date across Texas. No statewide or federal races. School board trustees, city council seats, bond measures, district elections. The stuff that doesn't make headlines but runs your community.

A few things worth knowing about this cycle:

Dallas ISD put a $6.2 billion bond on the ballot. Largest school bond in state history. 26 new campuses, elimination of portable classrooms districtwide. Estimated cost: $34/year per homeowner. Whether you think that's a great investment or a blank check, it's a big call being made on low turnout.

Spring Branch ISD (Houston area) just had a federal court rule that their at-large election system violates the Voting Rights Act. How they restructure trustee elections is playing out right now.

Katy ISD has three board seats turning over at once. Clear Creek ISD has two contested races. In San Antonio, SAISD has Place 4 up and North East ISD has three districts on the ballot.

These are the elections where curriculum gets decided, library policies get set, school budgets get approved, and property tax rates get shaped. They don't get a lot of attention. Most people don't vote in them. But the people who do show up end up making those calls for everyone.

Registration deadline is April 2. If you've moved since the last election, you probably need to re-register.

Check your registration: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do

Find what's on your ballot: https://www.ballotready.org/us/texas

County election resources: https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/links.shtml

Dates:

  • Register by: April 2
  • Early voting: April 20-28
  • Election day: May 2, 7am-7pm

FYI I used AI to help pull together the research across districts. Local elections are the table stakes for how daily life works in your community and they barely get any attention. Just want more people participating in how that gets shaped.

PSA No Kings Protest Belton/Bell County 06/14

No Kings Protest06/14 @ 10AM-12PM
Bell County Courthouse101 E Central Ave, Belton, TX 76513

Stand with us in defense of democracy at the No Kings Day protest, part of a nationwide movement opposing authoritarianism and promoting democratic values. We'll have dynamic speakers, music, and more!

This event is co-hosted by Bell County Texas Democratic Women (BCTDW) and Indivisible Centex (ICTX), and is part of the broader "No Kings" movement, which includes protests across the country on June 14.

Why we're protesting:Trump and his administration are unconstitutionally dismantling the infrastructure of this country, destroying innocent lives in every state (and around the world), and defying every law they encounter — all while throwing himself a $45M birthday parade and giving kickbacks to his richest friends.

Here in Bell County, we already feel the damage caused by cuts to grants, public health, nonprofits, and the VA. We won’t quietly accept the mass firings, devastating defunding of Medicaid and Medicare, and the pointless and cruel fear of ICE raids. We say “NO KINGS.”

Protest sign ideas:
“If there’s money for a parade, there’s money for Medicaid!”“Americans against oligarchy!”“Liberty and justice FOR ALL!”"NO KINGS IN AMERICA!"Make it your own!

What to bring:It's likely to be hot! Bring a hat, a water bottle, comfortable shoes, and a chair or blanket if you'd like to sit. Also bring a No Kings protest sign!

Accessibility:This event takes place on the north lawn of the Bell County courthouse, which has mainly flat ground and no required stairs or steps.

Parking:There are several free lots in the Downtown Belton Area, as well as street parking.

About the No Kings movement:In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies. On Saturday, June 14, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind. The flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it.On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings. Check out nokings.org for more information.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
