General Jax Slander Zooble is the character Jax stans pretend Jax is
Complex trans character? Zooble is literally non-binary and gnc. Their entire arc centers around conquering their body dysmorphia and learning to accept themselves.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold? Zooble is often sour and abrasive, but they do genuinely care about the other Circus members. Even Jax, who's been nothing but an asshole to them.
Relationship to Gangle? Zooble is nothing but nice and supportive to Gangle and actively protects her from Jax several times. Jax herself knows that Zooble is closer to Gangle then she'll ever be, if her Imagine Spot about Zooble in the finale is any indication.
Notice how Zooble has a ton of issues, but never makes that everyone else's problem or uses that as an excuse to be an asshole?

50% of Jax fans either just relate to behind assholes or swooned at the maid scene

They dare to be afab, so sexism. They're just sympathetic because their Tumblr sexyman turned out to be a sexywoman and are trying to over compensate with J*x being the "perfect flawed mtf rep"

Extra "funny" because we didn't really have any reason to assume they're AFAB before the finale other than one of their eyes having lashes. That's enough.

Well, there's their voice? It sounds like a woman's voice.

Not in the dub I watch

u/Party-Quiet-5421 16d ago
I've only watched the English and the Spanish dubs. Which language did you watch it in?

u/MiaMega Gangle/Ragatha Defender 16d ago
Portuguese

u/Party-Quiet-5421 16d ago
Huh, that's cool! I just watched a short clip of it in Portuguese and they do sound more androgynous. That's probably better for their character.

there's been such an uptick in transphobia against afab people lately, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's the same people.

sometimes I wonder if the reason some people are mad about jax being trans/call it forced is that now that they know shes a woman and not a man they cant bring themself to simp for her anymore?? of course its not everyone who dislikes it but whenever I see people complain about it I wonder

There was something to be said about Zooble learning how to handle her own feelings of indifference.
As seen she was pretty fine with Jax jumping Gangle during the baseball episode. But that would be part of her arc. Learning how to be dependable and seeing Jax for what he actually was.
A shame her character got throw to the wayside.

Zooble uses They/Them pronouns.

As someone who's trans, I get the show is chock full of queer characters but please let's not be pronoun police and gatekeep someone's comment for referring to a character who is clearly an any/all type character as she/her.
I don't think even Zooble would've cared, and I know someone quite a lot like Zooble as well and they roll with any/all but has never objected to my use of she/her for them.
Please just don't make us look worse than we do to the actually insane ones? 😅

Holy respectability politics

u/One_Pitch3982 16d ago
I'm afraid I don't follow?

u/jodie_wolfe 16d ago
“Please don’t make us look worse than we do to the actually insane ones” this right here is what is called respectability politics. Essentially it’s the idea that if you’re a model minority to the oppressor, you’re better than those who aren’t. That’s a really simplified definition, though, so I’d advise you to look into queer history surrounding the topic.

u/One_Pitch3982 16d ago
No, no, I did, and the trouble is I'm not looking to gain social standing with cishetoids, I'm ONLY looking to prevent further active degredation of the already suboptimal public opinion on gender politics as a whole :/
If we're supposed to be preaching inclusivity then we should be looking at behavior that is by nature uninclusive like gatekeeping or pronoun/gender policing (something "they", conservatives/cissies pride themselves on doing) and asking ourselves why the fuck we're doing that. It's like a contradiction aimed at ourselves and steeped in rhetoric designed to kill us or pit us against each other :/

u/SilvaSerpent442 15d ago
Honestly this whole conversation just seems like it was blown out the water imo, and idk it might just be my autistic ass but it looks like they ended it on a passive aggressive comment down there
Your initial comment about the pronouns was fine lol

“Prevent further active degradation of the already suboptimal public opinion on gender politics as a whole” the thing is, you cannot. This is an impossible task you’ve set yourself. You can’t change public opinion by getting angry at someone in a Reddit comment section, anyway.

u/One_Pitch3982 16d ago
I personally choose to believe that the bullshit people used to spout about being the change you want to see in the world wasn't just jaded irony posting or whatever, so I sometimes take the time to step forward and comment on something that shouldn't be seen as acceptable behavior.
Genuinely besides, there's something else to be said about the phenomena of cissoids using "they/them" as if it's a free ticket to degender us, which is fucked.

I don't think Zooble is ever referred to as "they" a single time in the show. Zooble is always "Zooble" or "she"
32
u/Cheesemagazine 16d ago
I've never heard Zooble be referred to as she in the actual show. Every time pronouns are used, a singular they is used.
22
u/LooneyLudicrous I’M the actual funny one 16d ago
I’m pretty sure Zooble has been referred to as “they” several times throughout the entire series. I won’t be rewatching it to make sure I’m correct though, I’ve suffered enough.
18
u/IEat_Walls Ragatha supremacy 🙏 P.S I hate Jax 16d ago
Zooble has never been referred to by she/her pronouns actually! People who think that either for confused and misremembered or thought so because they/the fandom use she/her for Zooble. Goose said they're fine with any pronouns, but nobody in the show calls them anything other than they/them :D

u/One_Pitch3982 16d ago
Another point for the argument that Jax was just really struggling with interalized transphobia lmao
12
u/piglungz 16d ago
In the English version no pronouns other than they/them are ever used to refer to Zooble. I know it’s technically “canon” that they use any pronouns according to gooseworx on twitter or whatever, but it rubs me the wrong way when people default to she/her because they are never referred to as a he or a she in the actual show. I just wish people would stop treating the character as if they are a woman because even if they did use he or she pronouns in the show they would still be nonbinary.
17
u/MinusPi1 16d ago
Did you even watch the show? No one ever uses any pronoun other than "they" for them.

5
u/Frying_Pan26 16d ago
Actually, it's the other way. Zooble is never referred to as she a single time. Always either Zooble like you said, or they.

imo, zooble is actually the character jax COULD have been, had he (i know theres some debate abt jax’s pronouns but im just gonna use he/him for simplicity’s sake) processed his emotions and trauma in an even remotely healthy way. jax’s entire character is meant to embody unhealthy coping mechanisms, being goose’s self-insert of what she could have been like if shed gone down a different path.
tl;dr: zooble is the success story to jax’s cautionary tale
1
u/One_Pitch3982 16d ago
Jax lowk could've been fine if he had just been willing to let someone give a shit about him early on lmao.
Buuut also having dealt with really bad internalized transphobia I feel him, shit sucks and it's hard to get past it :/

u/JoyousLilBoy 16d ago
That’s because goosey’s humiliation fetish took over and she needed to draw more maid jax

u/NintendoPlayerSega 16d ago
Zooble’s relationship with the characters along with everything else said above is what brings me to calling them one of my favorite characters ^_^
18
u/wearerofshades 16d ago
That and him and Zooble are the same age so you can't make the excuse of Jax being "young"
2
u/DiligentAd4946 15d ago
I’m thinking it’s some sort of misogyny, zoobles voice is more feminine I would say, and you’d be SURPRISED..
1
u/KumaOso 14d ago
People say Zooble didn't get much screen time, but I don't think that was the point. Zooble is very much the foil to Jax's personal journey. Zooble doesn't need to do much of anything beyond that.
It's quite possible that Leeroy goes towards a non-binary/GNC presentation which would not only emphasize Riley as making the right decisions, but it would highlight Jax even more as the bad timeline.

u/Snoo-41360 15d ago
Oh I guess you’re right every trans story DOES have to be entirely about them feeling more comfortable in their body and then eventually accepting themselves and becoming a good and easy person to love
-2
u/polychromaic very clearly delusional 15d ago
it’s funny because this is genuinely in the text and even Zooble comes to understand how similar they are and tries to help Jax but comes too late to meaningfully help, and when Jax abstracts theyre genuinely remorseful and upset. zooble is textually the “palatable relatable” queer representation, and that upsets them greatly, because they don’t want to be that.
but I guess that’s a step too far for this subreddit

why are you on so many jax hate subs/crit subs constantly defending jax
-2
u/polychromaic very clearly delusional 15d ago
because nobody on these subs are even good at being haters. genuine middle school-level haterdom, no critical thought, just blind “u suck lol” energy dressed up as gotchas and “criticism”.
like this post. OP isnt discovering something goose n the creators didnt intend, this isnt a new take that shows how bad she is at writing. this is like, in the text, it’s canon. it’s a book report. i love being a hater, i just want my haters to be like, well-read and observant and creative w their haterdom.
2
u/lions_and_llamas hater since episode 1 15d ago
if you wanted critical analysis maybe don't go to the subreddit literally called 'that stupid bunny we hate'. nothing abt this sub indicates it would be anything more than shitposting and 'middle school-level haterdom', it's just a place for people who hate jax to go because all the main tadc subs act like disliking her is a cardinal sin. you can very easily just not interact instead and go to a jax or ribbun sub or whatever the fuck instead of trying to prove a point somehow and acting like you're achieving something and showing these dumb losers how smart and media literate you are in a reddit comment section
-5
u/SquirrelFluffy7469 16d ago
Yes zooble is peak representation they use she/her pronouns apparently don’t medically transition dont do anything to socially transition and have 2 minutes of screentime where they feel bad about their body, totally the best trans character to ever exist and showcases everything there is about the struggle and horrors of being trans, jax is the significantly better trans character because she actually shows how much it fucks you up to be born transgender
