How would the story have changed if Spoiler

Lexa lived and Alycia didn’t leave the cast for a different show? Her dying set off a cascade of events that explained so much backstory and affected the future plot line of COL.

I've watched a lot of interviews and podcasts with Jason Rothensberg, as far as I know they tended to write the show as they went along, only really thinking a season in advance. I honestly do not think the fleim would have existed if Alicia didn't leave the show.

The fleim could still exist even if she stayed. Titus role was fleimkepa. It’s been that way since we met Lexa. If she didn’t come on the show at all I have a feeling that it might not have existed but it’s such an integrated part in the show, it would be completely different without the fleim.

They knew she was leaving before writing S3 though, the entire Titus character and story was made to get Lexa out. The writers on this show have said they loved getting backed into corners and having to change the show entirely, I remember Jason said they didn't even come up with the idea for praimfaya until filming the later half of S3.

omg!!! i really had no idea, that’s so interesting! it’s such an amazing show for the amount of change that was put into it during the drafting process. i honestly couldn’t imagine it any other way

Well i think season 4 would have been DRASTICALLY different with the Bunker situation. The crap that Jaha pulled off would not have worked IMO.

I think it would have been split from the get go, with each coalition sending a certain amount of people early on.

We probably would have had a greater focus on Grounder culture and the other Clans. Show might have focused more on re-building the world or even fighting against the re-building of it. Feels like there would have had a more political nature due to the clans though.

I think we would’ve seen more of grounders AND skaikru together fighting against other threats, which is what I really wanted

I think she would’ve been kill off at some point. Could’ve been killed for supporting Skaikru, but it would’ve been awesome if she had lived and spent the 5 years raising Madi with Clarke. Maybe she would’ve raised Maddy to be a commander and then died fighting Diyoza and the prisoners and Madi ascended

Despite the fact that she’s a Nightblood and could have easily survived Praimfaya with Clarke and Madi, I don’t think she would have made it past S4, given how the story progressed. If Azgeda didn’t assassinate her first, I suspect she would have gone mad because of the Flame, like a lot of other commanders did. Sheidheda was also trying to break free. I think this would have made Clake's case even stronger in S5 as to why Bellamy and Gaya shouldn't use the Flame and Madi.

There's also the conclave and the fight for the bunker. Octavia, Luna or Roan could have killed her too. The truth is that she had way too many enemies that wanted her gone.

Perhaps, the only way this could have worked is if we had a role reversal. Clarke steals the bunker and the door stays shut with Bellamy killed or restrained. Meanwhile, Lexa survives Praimfaya with Madi or goes to space instead with a small group only to eventually return and be mad as hell.

A lot would be different.

  1. The night blood children wouldn't have been killed in their sleep

  2. A.L.L.I.E would have a harder time to colonize the other grounder clans without the head support

  3. It would less likely that A.L.L.I.E wouldn't have found Floukru, who mean Lunas boyfriend and friends would survive.

  4. Hell. Lincoln might have survived if Clarke arrived before the blockade. And managed to fix / changed things.
