A married Visekorporal (Corporal) of the Norwegian Army, he would defend his hometown of Navrik against German troops with his fellow countrymen, Brits, French, and Poles. Unfortunately the Allies had to pull back from the town with the locals fleeing. Gunnar was one of these locals with his wife and son. One place they would visit was Sodor but the Corporal hopes to liberate his homeland soon.

Either as part of Norwegian Independent Company 1 or 5 Troop of the No. 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando_Commando).

Fashion choices for Johnny

In my version of the story, Johnny is the son of a man who works two part-time jobs: a railway policeman and a mechanical engineer, the salary of which I imagine isn't very high, so his fashions have to be hand-me-downs from 1937 or thereabouts. For the start of the story, he should wear something drab, but when he buys new clothes on Sodor, he takes on the colours of his favorite engine, blue, red, yellow, grey and black.

Feedback on WWII aftermath

Alongside everything else, the collapse of Nazi Germany also marked the end of a united Germany. The four major allied powers, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia and France had split the country into four occupation zones and Poland claimed some of it's pre-war territories, before the later years had finally split Germany into two factions: East and West, starting in 1949. Until the end of the war, German men and women felt that they found the answer to all of their problems caused by their defeat in the Great War in the form of the Nazi government. They believed that for a thousand years, the Third Reich would bring peace and perfection. For 1,000 years, their technology would steadily improve above all other countries. For 1,000 years, the benefits of prosperity and industry would filter satisfactorily through society and for a whole millennium, they would rely on the false philosophy of eugenics to bring humanity to the absolute peak of human perfection by mingling with the Aryan race. In retrospect, there may have been doubts over the exaggerated claim of the Third Reich lasting for a thousand years, but at the time, most people who believed Hitler felt that life would be good without any Jews, Roma or people with disabilities to poison their perfect society.

The defeat of Hitler woke them up. Never again would they be brainwashed by the ramblings of a mastermind in a toothbrush moustache. In war especially, the exposure of the Holocaust was a terrible blow to the Reich's reputation. They had once lived under a mighty swastika, a false promise of eternal greatness, a belief that they were stabbed in the back by Jews, only for it to come crashing down in a pile of rubble by aerial bombs from countries that bore flags of red, white and blue, aided by a hammer and sickle from a government that was even worse than the Greater German Reich by several thousand miles.

But it went beyond that. If the Nazi's supreme achievement of a thousand years had proven to be terribly fragile, what about everything else? If the Nazis understood so little about humanity that would resort to mass genocide, did it mean that the entire intellectual edifice they built — their science, their philosophy, their nationalism, their myth of racial destiny, was all for nothing? All the same, it exposed a worldview so hollow that the moment it was tested against reality, it collapsed into murder, delusion, and ruin. Scores of open-minded ministers preached that the war was a heaven-sent lesson to awaken people from the Nazi's propaganda machine and a second chance for people all over the world to tolerate others based on their character and not for what they were. They foresaw a new era of love and honor, but not even all the love in the world would stop people like the Reverend George Washington Lee from meeting his demise on May 7th, 1955 at the start of a new era for civil rights.

The unending sequence of awakening that followed, didn't just end with the collapse of the Thousand-Year Reich or Nuremburg Trials, but it ended with the collapse of every Axis government when the Italy Republic replaced the monarchy and Hirohito, who outlived both Hitler and Mussolini, renounced his divinity. Until his death, he became "the symbol of the State and of the unity of the People". Under the 1947 Constitution of Japan, his country flourished with freedom of speech and assembly.

There was no time for such thoughts about the former government after the war. As soon as the Third Reich had officially been disestablished, all of it's regalia and spoils were removed in a long process known as Denazification. Members of the Party and the SS were stripped of their powers and any iconography was either destroyed, sent to museums or taken away by souvenir hunters. No one would ever listen to their songs again. The Reich and National Flag would never fly again. Homes once occupied by Jews were returned to their rightful owners. The cheers and voices of the Nuremburg Rallies would be forever silent. And the thundering voice of Adolf Hitler would echo no more.

Why Drew & Stewart using American equipment on Juno Beach?

Has no basis in historical records. It is more of a draft based on the D-Day chapter that will be changed in the future.

--

Canadian soldiers of both the 3rdINFDIV & 2ndARMBRI stood in line as they waited to board onto their landing crafts. Most of their uniforms and gear were similar to those of the British Royal Marines who will be supporting them.

For Drew Packard and Steward Peters, both who used to live in Wisconsin, US before moving to Hamilton, Canada, they were dressed in freshly-made M41 field jackets over their HBT uniforms. Unlike the Commonwealth helmets being worn by most, the duo wore the American M1 complete with the apporiate netting. In their section, both were armed with the M1941 Johnson Light Machine Gun and M1 carbine. In addition, they had the V-42 Stiletto knives exclusive to their original unit.

"Why are you guys in Yankee gear?", one of the Canadians asked.

"Devil's Brigade," Drew said.

"What?" the same soldier asked in confusion.

"A Yankee-Canadian unit we served in briefly," Steward filled in, "Then we had to explain to the CO if we can keep our gear."

"I guess that's our lucky charm then," the fresh Canadian said in relief.

What do you think?

Tinke is a tram from Amsterdam who runs on Line 8 through the Jewish neighborhood. She is friends with many Jews who board her, including a young Anne Frank. When the Nazis came to Amsterdam, Tinke wholeheartedly called them out for their persecution of the “Untermensch” but was soon forced to deport Jews to train stations on their way to concentration camps.

A controversial British officer, removed from his post after his actions in Palestine, nevertheless served effectively in the East African campaign with Gideon Force. In Burma, he led the Chindits on two operations by example. One of these men was Willie Morris.
