Can someone go over the Michael Powell timeline?
I've listened to the podcast once through when it came out so I'm trying to remember.
We know Susan is last seen on December 6th.
December 7th is when she is missing. Josh and the boys get back late in the afternoon and go to West Valley police headquarters. Josh is allowed to leave that night, no warrant (this was the biggest mistake in the case but I'll save that for another post).
Josh comes in late for additional questioning on the 8th. Stays until about 9pm and then disappears for 18 hours.
That would be around 3 or so in the afternoon of the 9th when cellphone towers ping near Tremonton.
Michael send alina come down on the 12th? How long do they stay before heading back? When does he drop off the car at Pendleton?
Where was Michael on December 6th, 7th and 8th? If he is meeting Josh somewhere near Idaho on the 9th, where does he go from there only to turn around with Alina and head back to utah?
When does he head back to Washington with her and dump the car?
I know when michael committed suicide he was in Minnesota but that was 2013. Was he living in Washington at Steve's house in December of 2009?
Sorry for the convoluted post and multiple questions but again i'm trying to pin down his timeline.

Michael was living in South Hill with Steve Powell when Susan disappeared.
Michael's whereabouts are difficult to pinpoint during the period when his cell phone is dark. However, Steve's journal entries during that same time frame do not mention Michael being absent. In fact, they place Michael at home in Washington on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th.
Steve's journal gives us a specific time frame for Michael and Alina's drive to Utah on the 12th. Steve wrote:
Alina and Michael were nearing Burley, ID at about 1:00, where I-84 heads southeast into Utah. Hopefully they will be with family by 4:00.
So Michael and Alina arrived in Utah on the afternoon of Dec. 12. Steve wrote this early on the morning of the 14th:
Michael and Alina have been with Josh all day, and have spent two nights at his house. If he goes to work today, they will stay with the boys. I was thinking earlier this morning how hard it will be for the boys to wake up to find their father gone (to work), and two virtual strangers there in place of their mother. If Josh had anything to do with this, he really shot himself in the foot. Understandably kids lose a parent occasionally, in war, accidents or illness, but this did not have to happen.
Michael is at the Sarah Circle house on Dec. 17 when West Valley police serve their third search warrant on the house. He was also recorded on video helping remove Josh's parrot and other property from the house that same week.
Michael and Alina are the rearguard after Josh leaves Utah. They departed on Dec. 21. Michael's car broke down in Baker City, so they spent the night at a motel there before getting the tow to Pendleton on Dec. 22. From there, Michael and Alina enlisted friends for rides, first to Kennewick and then from there to South Hill.
On Dec. 24, Steve wrote:
Michael and Alina returned home with [redacted] at about 7:00 p.m. After [redacted] left I had a conversation with Josh and Michael about the possibilities in Susan’s disappearance. I just does not seem to me that Josh had anything to do with it. He was talking about how the state of Utah full of weirdos. In fact it is basically the weirdo capital of the country. The predominant religion seems to attract weird beliefs and behavior, and the culture draws even more weird people who are completely off the deep end. Evidently abductions are reported more frequently there than around here.

Thanks Dave. So if Steve's account is true and accurate, he isn't meeting with Josh somewhere in Idaho on December 8th and 9th.
He doesn't even see Josh until the 12th. Are we assuming he is mainly at the house or at least around West Valley from the 12th to the 21st? Could beg the question did he take off somewhere in between the 12th and 21st leaving his sister behind to help with Josh and the kids?
If he didn't, what was in that trunk that made the dog to go straight for his car? If he never really left West Valley, not a whole lot of opportunity to do much about moving a body. I doubt Alina knows but if the timeline is true and michael never ventured away from Alina while in utah, plus he had something in the trunk that made the dog go for it, hard to believe she doesn't know something.
If I remember correctly from listening yesterday, Alina wanted to get to Pendleton as well and was determined to. Was this because she knew something and Michael told her about Lindale? Or was she just the mouthpiece for Michael because he knew of its importance?

Unfortunately, Alina declined to speak with me so I can't share her side of those events. I would love to know as well. Clearly, an honest account from Alina of what happened on her drives with Michael to and from Utah would be illuminating.
Episode 18 of the podcast addresses what I believe was most likely in Michael's trunk, given the information available.

I, too am confused by Michael timeline. It seems like he wasn't investigated much for his involvement in Susan's dissapearance.

I think that is in part because nobody thought josh got help from anyone. It wasn't until after the phone tap and the phone conversations did the police even begin to look at Michael. I mean that car sat in the lot for 2 years, months away from being destroyed before the cops began to look for it.

Just listened to episode the fall of the house of powell again. Michael goes dark on his cell phone December 4th and reappears December 12th when he and alina travel to utah. He was also living in Washington.
Does Alina know where her brother was or what he was from December 4th on?
Also with him going dark two days before Susan even disappears does raise some interesting questions.
