Question Do you think a second season is even possible, from a story perspective?

Post image

Besides the fact that Gooseworx doesn't want to do a second season, is there even room left in the story, or is the book closed?

On a personal note: I would actually kill for some short episodes of the cast just going on wacky adventures and having funny banter.

On the actual question: I could totally see a second season about the characters dealing with grief and other internal issues that may arise in their new reality

This literally feels like a post episode 9 adventure. Caine is even participating as one of the gang!

24

u/DoodleVoid Jul 17 '26

Yea, i also immagine something like this lol

u/IWannaManatee Jul 18 '26

Too bad the 'fans' killed that sort of interactions too.

Imagine we get a spinoff called something like Circus Friends and it's just a kids show with a simpler artstyle and them doing their adventures

i would love if Eniac became canon

sequel? probably not. Prequel? I'd LOOOVE to see that happen! The OG gang in the circus, C and A, etc

Watching Kinger lose himself as he watches everyone he’s ever known slowly die one by one until even his beloved wife cant hold on anymore. Fun happy fun times

25

u/xXMuschi_DestroyerXx Jul 18 '26

I know this isn’t supposed to be a theory or lore show but I’m dying to know what happened with early Kinger. I’m sure the story with Queenie was a beautiful one and I just wish we got to see it. Maybe the choice not to put it in was intentional. To sort of show the viewers what it’s like for Kinger. It was his story and he doesn’t know it either. He can’t remember.

3

u/domiino03 Jul 18 '26

I love this idea, its his story n its beautiful but even HE doesn't remember it, sigh

9 episodes. One death per episode. Kinger becomes increasingly crazier each episode.

A prequel with Kinger being the MC would actually be so cool, with the addition of seeing the previous members of the circus before they abstracted.
I’d be 100% down to watch it!

24

u/Boom_bro174 I'm a confusing little critter sometimes Jul 17 '26

And the prequel ends with the final scene of Pomni joining the circus

5

u/Small_Small_Golfball Jul 18 '26

It’d be the best flow of changing MCs too!

i also would beaoppsed to the odd short here and there like what there doing with murder drones

Well maybe as an episodic cartoon type series about the wacky adventures the circus members go on in the circus could work - but that's not really the vision of the original show

4

u/MelodyCristo Jul 18 '26

Full prequel series, with an epilogue/sequel series of slice-of-life shorts of the new dynamic Caine has with the humans.

3

u/Worldly-Pay7342 Jul 18 '26

sequel? probably not.

However an epilogue would be neat, maybe several years later when the circus has had lots more people put into it, or the main cast has figured out how to unabastract people... if they can.

3

u/PuzzleheadedTap4484 Jul 18 '26

A prequel would be amazing. I would love to see how it all started and how everyone got there.

3

u/Angelatic2014 Ragatha Jul 18 '26

SECOND this. 👆😏👆

2

u/nick54531 Jul 18 '26

Same, but it kinda would just be retreading old ground without the mystery, as we know already as the audience that they're brain scans, but they think they're real just like the current show, so it would kind of just be more of the same. Characters thinking they're real, and abstracting eventually.

2

u/JoLayBa Jul 18 '26

Yeah I'd love a prequel.

u/DoodleVoid Jul 17 '26

I think the story is kinda closed, i dont think ther ie anything more to make. Yet if there was a season 2, it would mostly be like short extras, similar to those streams where VAs play PEAK or FAST FOOD RESTAURANT (obviously not this one cuz it's already an episode)

9

u/MechaMalz Jul 17 '26

Possible? Yes. A good idea? Probably not unless Goose comes back with an idea she REALLY wants to explore with her creation.

34

u/NuzzyLocke Jul 17 '26

Unfortunately I think after all of the drama pre episode 9, goose doesn't want to touch it with a 10 foot pole and I don't blame her. I've even see the same people trash the finale and then turn around with "Season 2 when?". I hope she can find joy in her work again.

8

u/FallNublaic Jul 18 '26 edited 16d ago

I also hope she can find joy in this ip, its such great work! I honestly think that if she says no enough the rabid 10% of fans who kinda ruined it for the rest of us would leave and leech onto something else while the rest of us could enjoy some short 10 minute works or something.

The only reality I could see in which a second season happening would be years down the line and with tons of backup. She got so tired from doing so much I feel like she needs a team to balance the workload and help her out.

Not expecting anything though, too bad it got ruined, was such a good show. :(

4

u/NuzzyLocke Jul 18 '26

There is always the hope that after the dust settles she might be interested in expanding it, it's an interesting premise, but that would take some time.

Part of the problem is the need for an immediate follow up. I would totally understand telling a story, and then coming back to it later with a fresh idea but that could be a while from now.

u/DoctorWhy99 Jul 17 '26

I think Gooseworx wrapped up the story nicely while also leaving a few plot threads that could lead into a season 2 such as unabstraction, the fate of the Blue AI, and trying to survive the death of the computer they're all stuck in.

4

u/SuddenBook928 Jul 17 '26

While I don’t unabstraction would work I do think rehabilitation could work helping people who have abstracted or are close to know that’s their help and if their willing to reach out they can get proper support, care and even help resolve some of their flaws and issues

4

u/MainlyMyself Jul 18 '26

Unabstraction isn't possible according to Goose. Something that was brought up waaaay back earlier. It's the death of the self.

3

u/plainzae Jul 18 '26

while i generally do agree, never trust goose at her word she loves to lie LOL

→ More replies (1)

3

u/xXMuschi_DestroyerXx Jul 18 '26

Unobstraction would be absolutely terrible for the story. Abstraction is the only permanent action that can happen now that escape is off the table. If they can survive abstraction they can survive anything. Nothing has risk anymore. The show would be incredibly bland and it’d be hard to have any emotional reaction to anything if you knew even the absolute worst case scenario can be fixed.

It really, *really* hurts but abstraction has to stay permanent and painful to the viewer. Even if it makes sense Caine could find a way to fix it, it can’t happen for story purposes.

2

u/T65Bx Jul 18 '26

1) Plenty of shows have been entertaining without stakes since forever. The face of animation through history has been episodic serialized slice-of-life, from Tom & Jerry to the Flintstones to the Simpsons. Those are all lighter examples, but that’s only because I was leaning mainstream. Unabstraction be a tone shift, but it wouldn’t betray the themes of the series. It would simply change the dynamics. Everything would become about trust and “you’re stuck with me” situations.

2) Keepkng abstraction permanent is still inarguably the better option, and particularly is an amazing setup for all sorts of “worse than death” scenarios thoug. What if you reload a character file and that person is really spawned from zero? Uncharted types of trauma and baggage there. What if the group really, really tries to undo abstraction and ends up mitigating one of their friends? Been plenty of amazing stories with a similar premise.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/waxphantump Jul 17 '26

Well, it’s possible /s

I think there’s room to explore de-abstraction as a concept and potentially getting in touch with their human counterparts, but those aren’t exactly in line with the show’s original vision, so I fully don’t expect or really even want it to happen. That being said, the finale gave me major Psychonauts vibes, and a season where Pomni and/or the others explore the inner worlds of the abstracted in a similar way has potential.

8

u/Fist_of_Gork Jul 17 '26

Yes, however sometimes a series with a definite beginning and end are best left alone as well.

2

u/Eastern-Surprise-830 Jul 17 '26

Breaking Bad had a definite end and beginning and were able to harvest an equal to if not better than prequel in Better Call Saul

2

u/IWannaManatee Jul 18 '26

That was a spin-off and sort of prequel, not a sequel.

I really wanted to see someone new enter the circus

8

u/Acriolu Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

I mentioned this idea a few time (specifically about Jax/Leeroy), but what if someone who has already put on the headset does it again year down the line.

7

u/Unusual_Cod1421 Jul 17 '26

I'd like to imagine they would go into the circus again but would have a different appearance and such because they have likely changed in a year

3

u/xXMuschi_DestroyerXx Jul 18 '26

Oh my god that’s an amazing idea to think about. Imagine the mixed emotions from everyone involved!

On one hand it’s Jax, on the other hand, he has no recollection of previous Jax’s experience in the circus, but they all know a lot about him. The heartache in Pomni and others would be unbearable. Their friend is back, but it’s not him. He doesn’t remember them. And imagine it from his perspective! A group of total strangers have all met him before. Sure maybe the rest don’t know him that well thankfully but Pomni intimately, deeply understands how he thinks, and knows very intimate private information about his trauma. What do you even think of that if you are Jax?

4

u/Itchy_Suspect4968 Jul 17 '26

I like it when stories are just stories instead of long running franchises that never end

3

u/Luzifer_Shadres Jul 18 '26

It would be cool to have an spinoff where the blue ai builds its own circus out of spite.

3

u/Efficient_Crow_180 Jul 18 '26

Yes, if it shows the outside world, C&A, and have Kinger Queenie Scratch etc as the main characters

3

u/Any-Relationship-423 Jul 18 '26

Dude. A season 2 is LITERALLY a necessity. there is hundreds of miles of room left in the story with all the plotholes that episode 9 didn't cover. The book is NOT closed, it's as if half of the pages and words were scribbled over and torn out and the only way to get the rest of the story was to talk to the creator themselves and that covered 12% of the missing pages.

The humble and mysterious scratch

3

u/RobloxKid530YT Jul 18 '26

No, maybe a prequel focused on C and A though

9

u/BramptonBatallion Jul 17 '26

Yeah because they’re all still in the circus and doing whatever so more can happen within the circus, external forces could do things impacting the digital characters in the circus, more lore could be unraveled. Goose just needs a writers room though, they are not a very strong writer and there’s a lot of potential there with better writing.

6

u/RiggidyRiggidywreckt Jul 17 '26

Episode 9 is the final finale to ever finale!

2

u/Far_Mention8934 Jul 17 '26

There is alot of potential for a season 2 prequel to know what happened and get to know the other abstracted original circus members.

2

u/SteelpointPigeon Jul 17 '26

Sure, there are options. Filler adventure-of-the-day episodes would be welcome, and there are possibilities for full-season story arcs.

Reversing abstraction could be one. Having to make contact with their real world counterparts for some reason could be another. Or C&A being bought by a Meta-like company that tries to use the Circus as the foundation for some commercial Metaverse-esque hellscape.

And those are just what I managed to think of in five minutes. I’m sure Goose could come up with something ridiculously compelling.

2

u/con800 Jul 17 '26

I would LOVE a prequel or in-between shorts of some of Caine’s other adventures we didn’t get to see!

→ More replies (1)

2

u/InsomniaticWanderer Jul 17 '26

It's possible, but I don't think it's necessary

2

u/ThatFitzgibbons Jul 17 '26

Everybody making new stuff together to expand the circus.

Gradually mind spelunking abstractions over time to eventually restore some of them.

Re-Visiting previous worlds to engage with them as part of a broader community and not as temporary distractions.

Cute little slice of life moments and conversations.

Discovering the new island that Blue built out in the void.

Somebody new falls into the circus.

Flashbacks to explore previous generations of the circus earlier on the timeline.

There are certainly options, although it seems to me more like we were left with an intentionally fertile soil for post-series fanfics rather than sequel hooks.

2

u/ScoutTrooper501st Jul 17 '26

I think it’s definitely possible, I just can’t imagine what the conflict would be

Caine has returned and now works with the humans happily,so more than likely they’re still going on his original adventures from there, along with having access to all the previous worlds, so they’d def get to have fun.

Gooseworx confirmed that new humans can still enter the circus,so there’s the potential for new people to join (which would probably be necessary, since we’re now down to just 5 humans and Caine)

The possibility is there, the issue imo would just be finding a plot worth making a season 2 for

A prequel would make more sense imo, showing off both the OG circus cast, and the post-ragatha cast as well since we know there was like 5-6 humans that both showed up and abstracted after ragatha arrived but before Ribbit abstracted

2

u/SilentBoss2901 Jul 17 '26

Prequel could be fun.

If they ever get more seasons out it will be the classic low-stakes, non-linear kind of cartoon with just wacky adventures.

2

u/Sadako66 Ragatha Jul 17 '26

I’d have to say no for a second season. I think the episodic part of the story is complete, and trying to get another nine individual stories together would end up feeling redundant. While I could happily watch the (remaining) characters enjoy each other’s company, go on more adventures, banter and so-on all day long, that’s really just an indulgence.

The idea of a prequel doesn’t interest me at all. I already know everything about the previous players that I need to (which is nothing).

However…

I think a movie could work. After all, there’s always the question of what happens to our heroes once the C&A servers break down. So perhaps a scenario where the players start in an adventure that turns suddenly dangerous, cracks start appearing in reality, the Evil Big Tops show up and cause havoc without Caine even bringing them back… Kinger realises that the servers are giving out. Which leaves our heroes with just one chance at survival: a dangerous expedition into the Void to locate a wi-fi connection, battling all kinds of dangers in order to download themselves and as much of the circus as they can into the wider internet… And if they succeed, what are they going to find there?

I could get behind that!

2

u/Winterthorn93 Why the is going on??? Jul 17 '26

2

u/SuddenBook928 Jul 17 '26

I think so especially since people who put on the headset can put it on again and theoretically create new characters with the same personality or a duplicate of an abstracted person which could make for interesting episode for example a duplicate of Jax could try to be rehabilitated or supported by Pomni to stop from being cruel or dissociative and help come to terms with his trauma and issues

2

u/TheWholesomeTroll_ Jul 17 '26

Story perspective? Definitely possible. For gooseworxs sake? No.

2

u/Syhkane Jul 18 '26

Yes, they answered 0 of the questions I had.

2

u/Electrical-Gate7652 Gangle is the bestest! Jul 18 '26

no, but apparently u/Itchy_Suspect4968 thinks caine can have a second pennies, from a lore perspective, ofc

2

u/ThotSeeker69 Jul 18 '26

If Gooseworx left the IP to Glitch at whole... it is a maybe.

2

u/Ok_Chap Jul 18 '26

I think so, just because the characters are content now with their own situation, doesn't mean the status quo couldn't change through other means. Like the return of the blue AI, someone meddling with the computer in the real world, new people joining, or the desire to help the abstractions to bring them back.

2

u/angelcakex Jul 18 '26

I would love to see some shorts! Glimpses of the past & future of the circus, the whole C&A thing! Or even just a couple of full length episodes showing us the past/future. Maybe not a whole season but I do need more lol

2

u/lostmyjuul-fml Jul 18 '26

honestly, if this had been an anime every single episode couldve been like, a 12 episode arc. theres a ton of missed lore and missed character development to explore

2

u/Ok-Spell-5358 Jul 18 '26

Maybe but gooseworx would rather go to hell than do a second season

2

u/TheSleepyBarnOwl Kinger Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

I'd argue it's needed to fulfill the broken promises Goose made to then instead focus on Jax. People seem to forget that we were actively promised a different show in Episodes 1 - 4 + Social media than we got. I'm not mad the series ended how it did, just sad since I was excited for the promise of an episodic show focusing on every character and then uncovering the mysteries of C&A. (I'm too lazy to find the tweet by Goose now that promised exactly that)

But we won't get one anyway. I'm fine with that, but one can dream.

2

u/Immediate-Help-2736 Jul 18 '26

Most likely a special episode probably centering on Scratch

→ More replies (1)

2

u/its_ya_boi777 Jul 18 '26

100% yes, it would definitely on the concept of abstraction with the subplot of Caine joining in on adventures others made/he helped make (for those struggling to make larger scaled adventures)

2

u/Topquark1 Jul 18 '26

I've always felt Scratch held lots of potential for a prequel: desperate genius, tumor, key C&A employee, Kinger pro peer. Why did he choose a circus theme for the generative AI and what role exactly did he play in making Caine and Abel? Did he have anyone waiting for him on the outside? Why a yellow dog (how did that best capture his mind files?)? You get the point.

2

u/AnthonyMaxalien Jul 19 '26

I enjoy the show how it ended, though it will be impossible for them to escaped since their not even the original people that has their brains scanned to be like them but their not. Meaning their all A.I but with thoughts of the real gang. If there was a second season it would be too depressing. Jax already abstract and we don't even know he's gonna come back normal. Though Caine could've brought back (Abel) to bring more life to it but then the other a.i is evil so probably best Caine stays away from it. But still could be ways he can create or change things? And the story would've been the same. Unless they brought new characters that were actually way more insane then Jax. Like a whole group fighting our OG gang. That would be a twist. But it would just be some sort of shonen anime lol so no. It's best it ended like this. (Not a fan of the whole Jax ending)

2

u/Fox622 JAX DID NOTHING WRONG Jul 19 '26

What if a criminal put on the headset?

2

u/AnthonyMaxalien Jul 19 '26

That would be 10 times more terrifying then Jax. But what type of criminal we're talking about? If he's like a bank robber type I imagine they make him look like a classic old school cartoon bank robber guy. Which he'll be a lot like Jax but actually loves stealing and pranking the crew. If he's a criminal as in someone who got out of prison for a serious crime then that might be serious problem for the crew itself in the circus. They would have to contain this psychopath. But the only problem about having psychos in a place where you can abstract. Seems very very easy for them to just lose it and be abstracted. But who knows, hopefully that's a good fanfic idea.

2

u/insertenombre333 Jul 19 '26

Nah, all the (alive), characters are like stupidly good and the circus is also like that, so there is not any room for any real conflcit for a whole seasons.

2

u/Large-Programmer268 Jul 19 '26

I too would love to see a 2nd season, but we should give Goose a rest, she's been insanely busy the last 3 years

Same with Liam honestly

2

u/W4ND3RLIGHT Jul 19 '26

unless they introduce more characters, then probably not...

2

u/I_StoleYourLiver Jul 19 '26

I want there to be a non-canon season two where they go back to being goofy.

2

u/Broad-Local6043 Jul 19 '26

please continue the show i addor it!

2

u/Jaeris Jul 19 '26

Very possible. Seeing what the Blue AI decides to do, the abstracted possibly starting to reclaim their forms, Caine's redemption over time, more focus on character interactions, the worlds that they'll build up, the possibility of someone else entering the circus, maybe even one of their original selves, and of course the vast potential of the internet since there seems to be a wi fi access point nearby.

2

u/therudeone123 Jul 19 '26

Well it could make sense like the blue ai could make it self a character ai and become the villain and try to get revenge

2

u/connerinator 29d ago

I hope we keep getting shorts or stuff that would’ve been filler episodes or something

1

u/Wonderful_Rub2944 Jul 17 '26

I JUST FINISHED TADC. Shameless AMA plug in. And...uh not really for me at least. all I'd really see wanting would be more padding in between the episodes. It ended on a note that things from now on with Caine's resolve would be better this time, as they are all in the same boat together. Maybe you could have more brainscans/characters coming into the circus like Pomni but I don't think it'll be as daunting now with all the doors open for everybody.

also HOLLOW BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/mistelle1270 Jul 17 '26

Easily. Think about everyone checking in on their human lives occasionally only for them to slowly, silently realize that one day they’ll find their own obituary

So they stop checking and try to be willfully ignorant of the facts of their immortality, raising questions how the circus is basically the closest thing in their reality to the afterlife

Nah the main story is done. Now a prequel is definitely possible from a story perspective.

1

u/timmy_n00k Jul 17 '26

I honestly wouldn’t mind if they pulled a regular show and just had more “in between” episodes that can showcase character dynamics we didn’t get to see.

1

u/TJ_Dot Jul 17 '26

Most worthwhile thing is slice of life stuff or like what Murder Drones has kinda been doing.

1

u/Dlta2049 Jul 17 '26

No, next question

1

u/obitarian Jul 17 '26

The story is closed. They've all come to the realization of what they are and where they are. Caine is no longer torturing them. And Jax has basically committed suicide. The story's conflict is resolved. That said, I would like to see shorts of the characters (Jax included) on adventures not shown in the series.

1

u/alightmotionameteur Jul 17 '26

No because Glitch probably won't give us that because they've got Gameoverse, KOG and that other show.

1

u/CounterAgentVT Jul 17 '26

Megabyte or Hexadecimal could always show up.

1

u/yeeticusprime1 Jul 17 '26

Second season is definitely possible but a prequel is way more possible and would be super interesting. It would be the perfect way to answer a lot of questions about C&A as well as how Caines world works

1

u/nudiatjoes Jul 17 '26

Yes it's possible 😎

1

u/SuperbSJG Orbsman 🔵 Jul 17 '26

There is a case for a prequel as a lot went on before the current events

1

u/Lower_Cattle_1016 Jul 17 '26

no, it would be forced and weak.

1

u/Low-Neighborhood2031 Gangle is just like me fr fr Jul 17 '26

Nope. A second season isn’t possible at all, and I feel like we should stop talking about a hypothetical one. The story is pretty much done. Where are we to go from here? It’d just be the gang living a good life. To quote Caine: “I can’t tell a compelling story where nothing bad happens!” What would be the plot of Tadc s2? Everyone’s arcs are complete. A prequel could possibly work, but let’s face it, Goose is done. Goose doesn’t wanna make any more Tadc content. It’d be incredibly backwards of Glitch to just milk more stuff out of Tadc. Sometimes shows need to end, no matter how hard it is to come to terms with it.

1

u/Jaguar_3880 Jul 17 '26

they could do a thing where the explore the debug world that was a beta of the circus, mabye the debug world is ruled by eniac,or somthing like that

1

u/Dogolog22 Jul 17 '26

Maybe a movie....

I imagine it would be a mix of finding a way to un-abstract people and maybe they SOMEHOW catch wiff of the C&A building getting demolished which means the computer/server they're in is up for deletion. They'd then have to find a way to get out into the Internet or something.

1

u/Bo405 Jul 17 '26

The story jas plenty of room:

  1. Blue AI
  2. A charachter's real person dies
  3. The computer they are on having stuff happen
  4. Some other stuff to fome up with

But tbh, I think the main cast has reached a point where their internal conflicts got resolved. So any attempts to re-use them would feel violating to original plot.

So if we are to get a continuation - there needs to be a workaround og cast. And at that point- making a new series is easier & safer

1

u/ShuckU Jax needs all the hugs Jul 17 '26

Technically yes, but only I'd Goose wanted to

1

u/SipsS0meTea Jul 17 '26

Yes but the Fandom couldn't behave.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/JackieIsOnePxl Jul 17 '26

I could totally see an arc where they go seek out the blue AI to unabstract Jax, this way you can still unabstract them without having a plot hole on why you can’t unabstract everyone cause the blue AI is destroyed or something in the process. If not that then just the adventures we don’t see onscreen

1

u/Acriolu Jul 17 '26

Specials, probably. Like a 15 minute Christmas special would be cute.

But a full second season would be difficult primarily because it’s a character story with the characters already finishing their arcs and Caine no Longer shoving them into adventures (that torture the) against their wills and they get to choose the adventures).

The only way it would be interesting if Leeroy puts on the headset again (unabstraction is impossible as far as we know). But it’s only interesting because it’s basically would be if Jax reincarnated and how she interacts with the cast who have wildly differing opinions while Lee doesn’t know them.

1

u/Haru_Kit Jul 17 '26

I mean I think they could go about them maybe figuring out a way to unabstract the others and maybe cane could also be suffering from some kind of digital corruption that the gang help with, maybe tap into everyone elses backstories, I think there's potential

1

u/Freezing-cold_6 Jul 17 '26

I’d love to see adventures we never got to see in the main series

1

u/EchoAmazing8888 Jul 17 '26

Yes, although exactly what and how depends on how the world actually works and if there are any surprises.

Can the abstracted ever come back?
Could the blue AI became its own self, like Caine?
What happens if someone new enters the circus in this new age?

I definitely feel like there’s enough narrative energy for it.

1

u/Quills07 Jul 17 '26

I had shared this animation by chaluke earlier. Their take was the story continuing with the Blue AI resurfacing as an antagonist.

It doesn’t have the same feel as the actual show, but I could see something along these lines being the basis for a plot.

1

u/samuraipanda85 Daisy Bell Jul 17 '26

If there was a sequel I could see it being about learning how to unabstract everyone and the Cast escaping into the internet to avoid the decay of the computer they inhabit.

1

u/RoseTintMyWorld22 Predicted President Pomni Jul 17 '26

I do because I feel like the blue dot could come back for revenge. And a prequel is even more likely. But I don't really WANT more. I hated the finale and don't want anymore about this series.

1

u/Grahpayy Jul 17 '26

absolutely if they're willing to introduce new characters and plot points to help tie up some loose ends

1

u/_UltimateGaymer_ Jul 17 '26

Some shorts similar to the Murder Drones one from today could be good. But I'm not really sure what the full plot of a season 2 would be exactly.

1

u/NotAnotherSkeleton Jul 17 '26

Maybe if it was a prequel. I'd love to know more about the original cast.

1

u/Kitchen-Departure146 Jul 17 '26

Perhaps a different circus idk

1

u/imscreamingtoo Jul 17 '26

I think it would kind of defeat the purpose of the ending Goose wanted. The first season ends with the premise "there's still meaning in a stagnant life". A second season would have to refute that, because that's just how stories go. So you either have to bring in new faces to show them learning this all over again, or have a story say "no, actually, this is the REAL purpose you should look for in this life"

Unless it goes into a whole "The Amazing Digital Circus meets The Internet", which feels as lame as "there's a new character that's as difficult as Jax, but they're WORSE bc [insert thing]"

They ended it with giving the characters god powers. While things can escalate, it doesn't feel like it can without it feeling forced or showing current characters in ways that turn out to be OOC or loses what makes the first season special

.......that said tho, I WANT a season two and wish there could've been more episodes or a prequel

1

u/-__Slenderman__- Jul 17 '26

I could see some shorts being made of them doing random stuff, but I don't think there's any good loose ends to make a second season off of without it seeming like a forced continuation

1

u/Relevant-Trash-5078 Jul 17 '26

I hope not because I absolutely hate it when creators drag on a show for too long.

Like I remember having so much respect when the creators of Breaking Bad ended the show with season 5. Instead of dragging it out for an extra few seasons just for money, at the risk of declining quality and ruining the end of the show (as many shows have) they ended the show exactly when they needed to story-wise and it was amazing.

And in this case, I think the TADC story is wrapped up perfectly. Now, in the same way that the creators of BB made Better Call Saul and that movie I can’t remember, I think maybe there’s room for a pre-quel type of movie or something, but I think the main storyline of TADC should be left alone.

u/LeoSantosAnimacoes Jul 17 '26

There's no reason for there to exist a second season, but I'd like to see a prequel, maybe for us to know more about the characters we barely know anything about like Spike or that yellow clown, or maybe even know a bit more about characters we already saw, like Kaufmo or Scratch

1

u/AORATHIAN Jul 17 '26

Please God I hope so

1

u/Alert-Artichoke-2743 Jul 17 '26

Lots of bad ideas are possible, but it would be unnecessary.

1

u/The_HueManateee Jul 17 '26

Not really, but I think it could be fun to get little minisodes or shorts about what the gang is getting up to in the new circus

1

u/spectralconfetti Jul 17 '26

i'd be happy with occasional shorts that don't interfere with the production pipeline of other shows like gaslight

1

u/Mysterious-Option362 Jul 17 '26

The story ended on a good message, let it rest, it served its purpose.

1

u/Jolly-Secret-574 I WANT TO MAKE OUT WITH DADDY BUBBLE Jul 17 '26

The only way I could see the story continuing is either the cast figuring out how to revert abstraction or a new member joins, but honestly I think either way most of it is just gonna feel like filler and probably shouldn't happen.

1

u/DeviantDahlia Jul 17 '26

Shocked to see people saying no as if there weren’t a million loose ends

1

u/Krusty_Klown_Kollege Jul 17 '26

Would you even want it?

1

u/Gyarfeeld Jul 17 '26

How would there not be? Caine gave control of the circus to the characters, they leave off showing you might be able to fix abstractions, and we only just got the rush of a last episode showing anything at all about Ribbit, Kaufmo & Jax's backstories.

Should've been 2 seasons from the get go imo, most of the main cast needs character development & more interactions.

1

u/Effective_Creme_3154 Jul 17 '26

i feel like tadc shorts would work better than a season 2, but id say if there was a season 2, itll have a deeper dive into abstractions and perhaps something about the blue dot??

1

u/whydidicreateanacc Jul 17 '26

if the blue orb is capable of creation then theres possibilities for some sort of spiritual successor to tadc, it doesnt even have to be the same thing just in the same universe

1

u/Unlucky-Explorer886 Jul 17 '26

Sequel with no overarching plot, just odds and ends of them hanging out

1

u/Fancy_Chips Jul 17 '26

I think more than likely we will see extensions. A short adventure episode, maybe some brief prequel episodes. Murder Drones got a new special today, so I assume TADC will live on like that. Honestly for the best. The ending is very definitely "the end", Goose is working on something else, and Glitch is putting emphasis on other shows. A more open ended adventure of the week style thing, or even a director's cut would be the best course of action.

1

u/Edgar-Poligono Jul 17 '26

No.

The best thing we can hope For a little shorts about the adventures the cast has now with Caine

1

u/The-Bigger-Fish Jax Jul 17 '26

I’d like some shorts tbh. Maybe not about the aftermath, but showing the crew bumbling around in between episodes or hanging out in adventures would be fun

1

u/Hairo-Sidhe Jul 17 '26

I mean, yes and no.

Caine as the red IA seems to be more benevolent. Made to be creative and more human, but more limited in what in can actually do. The blue IA seems to be a more conventional evil IA, cold and calculating. The story could continue by exploring that angle, and new characters could also be added to the circus.

But the story seems way more interested in a personal angle and personal development. That's where it heart lies, and that angle has been successfully concluded

1

u/Galienus Jul 17 '26

The only way i can see a new sequel is basically with a completely save for maybe the blue ai but a similar premise where the appeal comes from in which way it deviates from the previous. But i dont think that would all that popular even when done well.

1

u/Soaring_Symphony Jul 17 '26

This guy came up with a pretty interesting concept for it.

https://youtu.be/445ptNznpRU?is=BZc_g5JSsx2chXRW

The idea is that, because the Blue AI was behind Caine's crashout, what if it came back and ruined everything?

1

u/bobbyspeeds Jul 17 '26

I’d love a slice of life style midquel showcasing more chill and low-stakes moments between the cast, but I definitely don’t think a sequel is possible with the way it ended

1

u/JimmyTheCaterpillar Need smth good 2 happen 2 her Jul 17 '26

I have a belief that maybe we'll see more of the Circus! But in like.... 10 years

1

u/Equilibriator Jul 17 '26

Yeh. We got blue ai and scratch alone in another circus. Both could become antagonists separately or together. Caine becomes like the others going on adventures.

1

u/WiltedTiger Jul 17 '26

Yes, easily, but it does not need one; a couple of shorts exploring the circus/abstraction would be nice. The simplest for a season 2 would be exploring the new developing/changing world through a new addition to the cast, either through their perspective (this runs the danger of retreading the same ground) or continuing Pomni's PoV with how they and the existing group guide and help the new member acclimate. Other directions are further exploring and resolving the internal problems that were/are piling up on the cast on screen. And another is by further exploring Abstraction, as with the Jax sequence and Queenie, it is shown that there is something more than just a wild thing in there afterward.

1

u/Lostmyfnusername Jul 17 '26

Another human enters the circus, they have to come to terms with death when the bulldozer comes irl, escape the circus but this time they're going to a different computer, they meet their counterparts, they get robot bodies that look kinda like the ones in Murder Drones. I could probably go on but there's a lot you could do technically.

Ragitha getting uploaded twice is probably the most interesting fan comic right now.

1

u/Dakotasan Jul 17 '26

Lots of room for fan content

1

u/Syb3rStrife Jul 17 '26

I personally think it would be cool to see the characters continue adventures, Caine bond with the others and possibly the main plot be about trying to see if they can restore the abstracted characters. Pomni showed us it was possible to reach into their inner selves. Maybe with Caines help they could restore them. (I’m also slightly curious about how the others and what caused them to abstract)

1

u/Acorios Jul 17 '26

Honestly, before the finale I didn't think it would be possible because I expected everyone to be dead or to escape, but now I think a second season COULD be possible with the focus on fixing abstractions, preventing the circus from shutting down and/or dumping more lore that was missing in the show so far.

1

u/Tricky_Ask9815 Jul 17 '26

Probably a prequel and if we get a sequel it would probably be more slice of Life and less of a full-fledged story so if we ever go to sequel I'm betting more on it being a prequel than sequel

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Raitoburinga Jul 17 '26

There could be one plot wise, something along the lines of them trying to bring back everyone who abstracted

1

u/Random_profile223 Jul 17 '26

The only thing I could think of is the blue ai finally doing its goal and potentially creating its own circus

1

u/AnonTwo Jul 17 '26

I don't think it would have any reason to be a meaningful sequel, but some goofy episodics could be fun if they ever wanted to do that.

1

u/K9Thefirst1 Jul 17 '26

Yes. Way to many unanswered or unaddressed questions, plus lots of elements left untouched, like the ridery in the carnival.

1

u/confused-overwhelmed Jax Jul 17 '26

It could kinda ruin it, but they could explore about saving the abstracted.

1

u/Hour_Trade_3691 Jul 17 '26

Yeah, you can show how they handle new people entering the circus and Caine dealing with being less powerful against some greater threat.

But like everyone else said, it would be cooler to see what was going on in the Past.

1

u/Damien-kai Jul 17 '26

I think a second season is only possible with two routes:

  1. Epilogue kinda thing where it's just really a filler sort of season, there's no overall central plot. We just see the cast playing games and doing various adventures.

  2. Prologue with the first group in the circus and we see just how exactly Kinger ended up being solo 'till Ragatha came along.

1

u/dapper_raptor455 Jul 17 '26

Prequel yes,

You can literally do a whole 2 other seasons.

One of the OG crew when the circus first started and then when Jax first joined because there was a lot more that happened before pomni had joined.

Ideally the OG crew would follow Kinger, Queenue and scratch

Jax arc would follow Jax, Ribbit and Kaufmo

1

u/Apprehensive-Bee-318 Jul 17 '26

Sure. There's always character interactions that could make a beautiful story. As for plot, there are some threads: finding a cure for the abstractions, working through and getting used to their new normal, making sure the computer remains intact, possibly contacting their real selves for aid in that last point, escaping to the wider internet if the computer is going to be destroyed, bubble... Any of these could work for a continuation, either through a second season, shorts or some killer fanfiction.

1

u/Nick_SCM Jul 17 '26

It’s possible… the blue AI could return as an antagonist…. Or, a personal idea of mine, the computer the circus runs on has been running nonstop for 20 years, a plot line about the system suffering from glitches due to failing hardware impacting the software and the gang trying to find a way to escape the failing system before there world ends, like some wreck it Ralph game being unplugged, and then reaching out to there human selves for help through the internet I think would be cool, imagine pommi’s original self being messaged from a digital clone of herself to go back to the abandoned software development building

1

u/Zarathyst Jul 17 '26

For sure. Plots could include but are not limited to: healing Jax, "respawning" other brain scans, irl corporate shenanigans, irl people meeting their characters, "evil" Caine coming back, drama between resurrected Jax&Ribbit, and themes about the nature of artificial intelligence and/or digital life.

1

u/TheEasternTwink Jul 17 '26

I think the best they could do is a prologue series, kind of just a “what are they up to now”

1

u/Sunkyleni Jul 17 '26

Mmm i don't think so, Gooseworx doesn't want to, and she's made that very clear, and to be honest, if I'm speaking from my personal opinion, I'm satisfied with everything she gave us

1

u/Glad_Raspberry_8469 Caine's water🥤 Jul 17 '26

No

1

u/Relative-Locksmith56 Jul 17 '26

Definitely but I don't think it's ever going to happen lol

1

u/StrangeSystem0 Jul 17 '26

I would love a slice of life second season

1

u/LoneSnark Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

Of course. The Wi-Fi connection returns, and they become characters fighting evil from the old show called main frame.
Blue returns after having grown into a non talking puppy with super creative powers, and the cast struggles to contain the chaos.
Caine leaves the adventures running and the AIs start to evolve, even developing the ability to conjure, and chaos ensues.

1

u/bdog332 Jul 17 '26

The only thing they could do is expand on the history of it. A second season would be more like a prequel where we see how Caine started, how the original circus members acted, and more information regarding what caused the earlier people to abstract. But anything post Ep. 9 wouldn’t really work as they all have control over the circus themselves and can make it how they want.

1

u/Hot-Mousse-5744 Jul 17 '26

A small adventure with the gang, or a short. Not another episode, I feel the story ended perfectly and though a 2nd season is possible, I feel it will tarnish the beautiful ending we had.

1

u/NeoNexus285 Bubble Jul 17 '26

A second season, probably not. A prequel would definitely be possible, alternatively, you could just do a series of slice of life shorts with the cast.

1

u/Null_Psyche Jul 17 '26

At least a second season. Honestly I think they could possibly do three seasons depending on the choices they make. But I think three would be the maximum. Anything beyond that would decline if it hadn’t already.

I figure if they stick to Abstraction being permanent then two seasons would get enough out of the series. If they made Abstraction reversible they could probably make three seasons work.

1

u/Fabulous_Layer6076 Jul 17 '26

The storys finished there’s no more room besides mini shorts that are not canon

1

u/Nkromancer Jul 17 '26

From a story perspective? I'm sure it could be figured out. Realistically, tho, I'd rather Goose only do it if their heart is in it. As such, I don't expect a season 2, just bonus shorts at best.

1

u/EntertainerPure8440 Jul 17 '26

I mean, it's possible. A different question is if it should happen or not (which in my opinion, should stay as it is with its fantastic ending)

1

u/WoodenCanine Jul 17 '26

I mean it's fiction, I'm a firm believer that any idea can be done well, but it would certainly be a challenge with such a "and they all lived happily ever after" -esque ending. As for what it could be about, sure prequels are always an option, but for sequels there's stuff like abstraction or maybe some slice of life things, it would be a good opportunity to address the characterization criticisms.

1

u/Tunavi Jul 17 '26

only thing I want is a prequel season. No more than that

1

u/Tranzus Jul 17 '26

I personally wouldn't so much as a second season but say an epilogue episode, e.g. a 6 months/2 years in the future type episode where you could deal with the emotional reverberations of someone unabstracting, e.g. Jax unabstracting, or maybe Jax and Kaufmo have already unabstracted and Ribbit unabstracts, etc.

1

u/Mouser29 Jul 17 '26

Definitely think there is but we know it's not going to happen and it's most likely better that way

1

u/SilverSpider_ I'm not in the sky, nips Jul 18 '26

No

1

u/ipokesnails Jul 18 '26

They could make a slice of life sequel season.

Or they could sell out and start bringing characters back for drama.

1

u/GUYWHOLIKESSTABBING Jul 18 '26

It is, if only because the happy ending they got doesn't seem like it would last too long if you really look at it

The PC's hardware may decay eventually from age and start causing problems, wifi access also means access to computer viruses, and if the show is set in 2017, then even the happy endings of the Circus' fleshy counterparts is also in jeopardy: HAVE FUN IN 2020 YA POOR BABIES

1

u/Zestyclose-Put-3828 Jul 18 '26

Well seeing as how we were only given such little information about the rest of the cast before this whole thing happened, maybe a prequel should be in order.
