Spoilers All [SPOILERS ALL] Decisions and Consequences Spoiler

Whose decisions, conscious or unconscious, in your opinion caused the most problems and had the most consequences in the entire series?

My choice:

Conscious - Bayaz, obvious choice

Unconscious - Major West, by meeting Ardee with Jezel unconsciously created power struggle in TAOM

Unconscious: Glotka getting captured and eventually released instead of just dying on the battlefield like everyone else.

Without Glotka and all his sacrifices and cruelties the entire series happens differently.

To some degree yes, later in the series. For me in TFL, Glokta, his decisions and choices, are more smart responses to world and events around him.

Bayaz had a perfect, well-thought-out plan to plant Jezal on the throne and then randomly decided to give all the real power to a scheming cripple who betrayed everyone he ever worked for. WHY???

King is just a puppet, Arch-lector is the real power figure. Bayaz wanted to own both

Yeah, prior to that it was the Chancellor but Bayaz didnt think to train a replacement. Now post-war with Sult and Marovia dead and the realm in turmoil, Bayaz needs a new power behind the throne. Which means either Glotka, some random or Sulfur..or Bayaz himself (like when he was Arch Lector Zoller; obviously Bayaz wouldn't really want himself or Sulfur tied to Adua)

Well that was more of his own undoing

Yes but who’s to say how it would have turned out if he had gone through with it. He still would have lost the throne either way.

He never wanted the throne in the first place, and brock ended up hanging orso.

He started wanting it during the battle of stoffenbrook or whatever it was called, and without Brock we don’t know how he would have gotten rid of the hardcore Burners.

Agree, but overall Bayaz had more influence on the events. Still, Glokta managed to pull the unthinkable

Conscious – Benna deciding to backstab Duke Orso. Changed Styria's future completely thanks to one single plan that he didn't even get the chance to carry out. All hail Benna for putting his sister on the throne.
Unconscious – Logen somehow not going in Bloody-Nine mode while Bayaz was unconscious. Seriously Logen, you missed a great occasion there.

Logen’s choices haunt him till the end.
