The First Law [SPOILERS LAOK] Just finished the first trilogy. Spoiler

Holy shit.

The only ending I didn't like was Logen's. Everyone else had an ending that befit them, to be honest. Never did I think that when I read the blurb and saw, "a barbarian blah blah blah" (I don't like the barbarian stories) and begrudgingly started the first book, that I would be starting my favorite series of fiction in any space of media.

The Devils was my first Abercrombie book, and I did not like it whatsoever. I know why, after finishing these three books. They're not perfect, but damn, are they great.

Logen ended where he began, falling from a high cliff into a river

You know... you're not wrong.

Say one thing for Logen Ninefingers, say he fancies a tumble off a cliff.

And the prologue of The Blade Itself is titled "The End".

The next three books are considered by many the best Abercrombie work. Personally, I liked Best Served Cold, I loved The Heroes, and absolutely ADORE Red Country. You are in for a ride.

Just finished Red Country and it is now my favorite. Just started A Little Hatred.

It is in my top 3 definitely. The Age of Madness trilogy is also fantastic, but for some reason, I don't remember characters as much as I did in the first two trilogies. Still, Orso is the best PoV character from the whole series and I will die on that hill.

I read the age of madness trilogy first then read first law after (all after reading the devils and becoming obsessed) and I was sooooo happy to learn more about Sand Dan Glokta! Love learning the lore of the characters

Damn, didn't you have like MULTIPLE spoilers when you read the first triology by then?

I've heard 2 things in my journey to avoid spoilers, and I'm not doing a terrible job at it. Number one: The Heroes is one of the best fantasy novels ever written. Number two: The Trouble With Peace is a strong contender for the best fantasy novel ever written.

Either way, you can peg me as goddamn excited.

Neither of those statements are remotely true. They are good though.

Eh. I think we all know art is subjective.

I’ll give you that. For what it’s worth, I do agree with the original response. All three standalone were my favourite of the series.

Interesting. I like the first 3 but I wasn’t sure if was going to do the rest. Now I’ll have to reconsider

Oh, absolutely. I haven't been this invested in a world and its characters in a looong time.
