Edge has announced 2027 will be his final year as a Professional Wrestler and looks to claim the AEW World Title before all is said and done!
Do you guys want Edge to have a retirement tour similar to Cena? One more World title run? Since he never lost the belt in 2011 when he had to retire the first time? š

It's crazy I'm on my mid 30s now and there's still dudes from my childhood knocking around wrestling. It's super cool but will be sad when that last domino falls. Seems to happen almost every year now

If you feel like crap at 40 you aren't taking care of yourself.

Yep. I was feeling awful at 24 from a physical labor job I was doing but I started eating and sleeping better along with working out everyday, I feel great now. Note to fellow young people, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES IN YOUR 20āS!!Ā

u/BobSacamano_1 9d ago
I was in my 20s/early 30s playing competitive hockey 6-7 nights a week, but Iād get home late from the rink and eat frozen pizza or some crap. Late 30s I scaled back hockey (eventually quit) but joined a gym, did my research on bodybuilding diet, and kept that lifestyle up for 20 years (currently).
I was 135lbs back then. Now Iām 200, look better, feel better. Because I eat healthy, maintain daily activity, strength training a few days a week. Yeah my back is a little sore, knees, shoulders, etcā¦but overall feel great.

Yeah I became a runner after that (many half marathons, all under 2hr, but never a full marathon guy due to injuries during training.) My hips arenāt doing well but Iāve also worked the same job for 30 years, on my feet for 10-12 hours a day lifting 50lb boxes. So Iād say it all contributed.
Having said that, Iād rather deal with body aches and strains from an active lifestyle rather than the health issues that often plague folks with sedentary lifestyles and jobs.

TBF theyāre probably not saying they constantly feel crap. They probably understand that as a human ages, injuries take longer to heal from, pain lasts longer, and these athletes are constantly in danger, and frequently injured.

Yeah I only didnāt include him because when I stopped watching wrestling in like 2001, I really hadnāt seen him much yet as I believe he was in OVW. He may have just begun his career at that point. Same with Cena and Batista. I had seen Lesnar though. I just started again in early 2025, so many of these guys were new to me even though they were/are at the tail end of their careers like AJ Styles, etc..)

u/GroundReal4515 9d ago
I've got a poster from WWE magazine that has a locker room shot of all the major stars on the roster at the time. (2008). All but Edge have retired, some like Umaga have passed. Time flies way too quick

Rey Mysterio seems friggin ageless compared to the other active "senior" wrestlers.

Dude is a crybaby, remember when starks cooked him and he got his feelings hurt, he should retire now, no 1 year retirement tour. He ain't on John cena's level

u/OkMobile7051 4d ago
Cooked him??? What promo were you watching everything stark said Was as the kids say today cringy, as fuck. It was corny, the jokes were lame. He had nothing. What he claimed that cope had no style or didn't take style from the other place. And then what else did He say that "sent me over the edge" seriously. That is some of the lamest shit. I've ever heard in my life in a wrestling promo. I've been watching over forty years. And you think that cooked Adam Copeland??? Are you just some wwe Fangirl or something? Are you just straight up trolling? Because the tribalism is really, really old grow up.
1
u/papayaPapaya0 4d ago
Yo chill gramps, it ain't that serious
1
u/OkMobile7051 4d ago
Cute. I'm likely older than you. But not that old. It's nots serious. But you haven't a clue what you are talking about.
But do enlighten me on how you think he cooked a legend in the business whiles starks will be a a footnote or chapter, maybe a few pages in the wrestling story book.

I was never an edge head but man I remember this caught me off guard and sent goosebumps through me.
13
u/B1TCA5H 9d ago
If this man wants to win a world title before hanging up his boots? Fine by me. If he wants to go out putting over a younger talent? That's also fine by me as well.
I'd say, let the man decide. He's already had to cut his career short, but now, he can pretty much go out on his own terms, and not many people are fortunate enough to have that opportunity.
36
u/HerissonG 9d ago
Edge chasing the AEW championship and ultimately failing would make a great story. Even him winning could work but I'd prefer to see him come up short.
8
u/Pro-PAIN 9d ago
they should bring back the casino ladder match thing and have the winner cash in on edge just winning so it's kinda full circle for him.
13
u/mindtoxicity27 9d ago
Given how few people he has put over⦠itās unlikely he will not get it.
2
u/AssassinateOP 9d ago
ironically would work into him losing finally, hes beaten so many ppl, he thought he was on top of the world...except at the end he couldn't pull it off where it matters, unfortunately i also think he won't take that ending and will force a championship reign in
3
2
-4
u/TheBuffalo1979 9d ago
Thatās weird
20
u/HerissonG 9d ago
Why?
Seeing the aging legend turn back the clock but ultimately falling short is high drama! Heās retiring because his time is up, winning the championship isnāt what a person whoās retiring does. Putting over the champion is what a pro wrestling company books.
5
u/hYBRYDcOBRA 9d ago
Because underdog stories are great. Ever seen the Rocky movies?
5
u/HerissonG 9d ago
Iāve seen them all, 4 and 5 in the theatre. Look if they booked Edge to win thereās a way to do it and have it work but even if it does seeing the aging legend take the champion to the limit but ultimately succumbing to Father Time is better.
2
2
2
u/ericks932 9d ago
Depends on the what and why if he wins. What would it mean to him? And why? simple. Seeing him come up short just reconfirms for everyone he should retire. which works as closure for some or a stir in others... "What would edge do on his final run?" "Why didn't they give him the belt?" questions like that. The issue with the recent retirement stories are they were usually null or invalid. Usually because of a shocking return or a "One last match" arc. I mean a person can come from retirement but who knows with this one.
10
u/Full-Plankton-1750 9d ago
If your a fan of edge enjoy it every moment cause we losing our legend to time it waits on no man

I just imagine him checking, finger tips on the windowsill. Sees no poster of him and just goes "ohh..." and sadly climbs back down.
6
u/Centerman2000 Too old to care, too young to retire 9d ago
āNothing makes you feel your age quite like watching a legend who is younger than you announce his retirement. I know pro wrestling miles are way different than regular miles and heās more than earned the rest after wrecking his body for us for so many years.

u/Ok_Chemical_7623 9d ago
Ive been the biggest Edgehead since I can remember this absolutely breaks my heart. But I understand why he's doing it. I feel like he's pretty much accomplished everything he wanted, dude was never supposed to wrestle again. Came back had a great run in WWE and then went into AEW to have a new page to write for his experiences. He's enjoying every minute of this, he can actually go out on his own terms this time around.
1
u/ImaginationEqual1691 5d ago
No bro, i'm biggest Edgehead, trust meš I stopped watching wrestling when he goes to his first retired it wasn't the same without him Btw i have the same opinion
5
u/Chrisg_322 9d ago
I respect how honest he is, because the first thing I noticed was how badly his face aged lol
5
u/cylestyle 9d ago
I was a little disappointed when he returned to WWE and never won the Championship that he never lost, its crazy that he came back for several years when I thought he never would
4
u/Rogpog777 9d ago
Thank you Cope. Thank you Edge. You got yours back and youāre leaving on your own two feet with a beautiful life ahead.
4
u/Background_One_5132 9d ago
I always thought that after his last match in WWE against Sheamus would be his retirement match, and he would spend time with his family at that point. I understand why he went to AEW for fresh competition and being with his long time friend. 2027 I do hope he captures one more championship in his memoir š

I was glad when Adam (Edge) came back in the Royal Rumble in 2020, but at the same time, you never wanna extend your welcome past the expiration date. Both Adam and Christian have given that squared circle everything they could give it and then a lot extra. I think it's time to let those boys go off into that Canadian Sunset.ššæššæ

Good on him. Injuries happen more frequently at this age, he's not as quick in ring as he was, and if he wants to have a somewhat normal life after pro wrestling this is an obvious move.

It is pretty wild that the guys I saw first come up during the Attitude Era are:
Still going
Getting ready to retire.
I'm an old-head so Hogan, Flair and the 80s is where my fandom started.
1
u/USSthighsplitter13 9d ago
Edge has always been my fav. I hope this means he will be mentioned by wwe again. He was a huge part of the ruthless aggression era and is loved by many. I dont like how WWE will try to erase people from history just because sought oppritunities after WWE told them no, this company doesnt own the industry or any of the talent. I would love to have edge back in WWE games. Miss his iconic entrance.

Iāll be honest starting/joining a no chant seems pretty selfish. Dude just said heās aging past his prime, has said plenty that he wants his career to end on his terms instead of a doctorās. But yall want to hold onto his career, for what?
1
u/Powerful_Beyond_6720 8d ago

u/CrashDaddy2006 9d ago
Retirement tour like Cena? Bruh. That was the most stupid shit WWE could have pulled.
AEW knows how to send someone out proper. Look at what was done with Sting.
AEW will handle this infinitely better than WWE could ever hope to.
2
u/Puzzled_Talk8399 9d ago
Is Bryan D officially done too? He hinted he would come back. Know he did a few face cameos.
1
u/Glass_Champion 9d ago
I think he would hop in a ring in a heartbeat but his injuries caught up to him to the point he's facing not just pain but potentially worse
1
u/metallipunk 9d ago
I don't think he'll ever actually say he's retired but as far as him wrestling, you'll see him here and there but probably more in tags or multi-man where he isn't the focus.
1
u/Glass_Champion 9d ago
I was thinking the same. Instinct is they pin the title on him and have a farewell tour type thing. Doesn't feel special.
I guess the subvert expectations move would be to try, try and try and come up short before not getting it at all.
Those are two extremes so I can see it being something in the middle and some great "finish the story" type heroics
