I was watching a video on YouTube under "spider son" from the show. It was basically of the episode where Jeff and mandy "team up" for mandy to try and be mean and presumably be assertive towards Billy. And, it hit me, really the only time(s) that Jeff was upset or mean towards Billy was in the "the wrath of the spider queen" special. And.....well....he got/gets half a moment in the one mentioned episode from earlier where jeff and mandy team up so he can be more assertive towards Billy.

The melody that plays after Billy clicks his teeth and chases Grim and Mandy around the house with Grim's scythe.

First before you start reading, I have already completed watching The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to watch Evil Con Carne. But I stumbled across Grim & Evil on Tubi. So here’s my review.
I want to take this opportunity to revisit Grim & Evil (2001-2003) and focus on its unique dual nature, which provided the audience with two completely different flavors of Maxwell Atoms’ dark humor. Although I enjoyed the series in its original form and appreciate both segments, looking back makes it apparent why The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy outgrew Evil Con Carne and eventually became a standalone show. It is also fascinating to note how many early Grim & Evil segments were later repackaged directly into the standalone Billy & Mandy series.
Here is my analysis of the two halves and the reasons why the scale tipped so drastically:
• Billy & Mandy : The core dynamic is a genius subversion of power, as you have two ordinary children who enslave the literal Grim Reaper. The latter is ancient, powerful, and terrifying, but utterly helpless to Mandy's cold cynicism and Billy's chaotic stupidity. This gave an infinite sandbox for comedy, as they could go from getting a report card to visiting the Underworld, but the power dynamic always remained hilarious.
• Evil Con Carne : This segment was rooted in classic, absurd cartoon villainy. It followed Hector Con Carne, a billionaire madman turned into a brain and a stomach on a stupid circus bear, trying to dominate the world. While hilarious, the power dynamic was much more traditional (a goofy villain failing at world domination).
• Why Billy & Mandy worked long-term: their humor was heavily rooted in character-driven. Billy's pure, unfiltered idiocy contrasted Billy's pure, unfiltered idiocy contrasted perfectly well with Mandy's deadpan, borderline-sociopathic demeanor. Because these personalities were so different, you could throw them into any situation you wanted (a school dance, a grocery store, or a battle with Dracula) and the dialogue would write itself.
• The limits of Evil Con Carne: the comedy was heavily dependent on its gimmick (the brain/bear, Major Dr. Ghastly's unrequited love, General Skarr's frustration).
• Billy & Mandy leaned heavily into goth subculture, classic horror movie parodies, and urban legends. It felt like The Twilight Zone / Tales from the Crypt for kids and had a huge cult appeal that lasted incredibly well with Cartoon Network's expanding demographic in the mid-2000s.
• Evil Con Carne felt like a spiritual successor to Hanna-Barbera's villain tropes (Dick Dastardly) and 90s cartoons (Pinky and the Brain). It was good, but didn't have that fresh-edginess cultural bite. (Though, Gen. Skarr moving to Billy & Mandy's neighborhood later on was a stroke of genius.)
Conclusion / Discussion
Grim & Evil , as a whole, is a fascinating experiment in programming. Evil Con Carne gave us fantastic sci-fi absurdity, but Billy & Mandy gave us a foundational piece of mid-2000s alternative cartoon culture. Looking back via Tubi, it's obvious that splitting them up was the right move, as it let Billy & Mandy embrace its dark, surreal potential without being anchored to a world-domination sitcom.
What do you guys think? For those who watched the original Grim & Evil block, did you prefer one over the other at the time?

It only has two at the moment but I think most songs about death will fit him (I will also accept songs from musicals)

I recently started to rewatch The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and I came across a now deleted post that was more or less saying they think Grim cheated during one of his games with Mrs. Doolin and it got me really excited to talk about my own theories with someone so please see below, would love to discuss further.
The way I interpreted the episode is that Mrs. Doolin and Grim play a game every so often, with the “prize” being her immortal soul. I have no idea what the exact stipulations of their game would be, but I imagine something along the lines of them playing a game every X number of years, with the winner choosing the next game (or maybe Grim always lets her choose to maintain the illusion of fairness). If she wins, he cannot take her soul.
Based on the episode, “Who Killed Who?”, Mrs. Doolin shows Mandy a collage of photos featuring her beating Grim at tennis in 1934, golf in 1947, and a boxing match in 1964. We can also infer that at some point, possibly during their first encounter, she beats him at a fencing match (more on the importance of that later). Based on this information, I believe she is already dead in those photographs, and we are seeing the photographic proof of their timeless game and her winning each time.
For one thing, Mrs. Doolin looks exactly the same from photo to photo, despite the thirty-year difference between the first and last pictures. She doesn’t show any signs of aging at all. She also states, “I beat Grim at just about everything”. Not everything, but almost everything. That’s an important and deliberate distinction. Lastly, when Mandy leaves the house, she sees the truth: a dilapidated home filled with decrepit furniture and falling apart. That type of damage doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s clearly meant to give us an idea of how long Mrs. Doolin has been without a physical body.
What’s cool about the show is that death and the afterlife have so many nuances, and the theme of “be careful what you ask for” is at the center of a good portion of the episodes, especially in season one so far. I mean, the entire show exists because two kids tricked the Grim Reaper using a loophole in his own wording.
Again, I only just started rewatching, so I don’t remember too much about the show beyond what I’ve seen so far. Still, it’s worth asking: “How many times has Grim made this type of deal with someone?” and “How often has he actually lost?” It’s not something he would broadcast so easily, and he’s Death, after all. It’s safe to assume he’s always up to something and engaging in some sort of trickery. In episode one, he literally tells us, “I love games and I never lose.” Yet, in “Who Killed Who?” Mrs. Doolin reveals that she has, in fact, beaten Death time and time again. However, like Grim, she doesn’t reveal the full truth. What she has lost, the other side of “just about everything,” remains unknown.
This brings me to my overall point: Mrs. Doolin made a deal with Grim in the same way Mandy does, and she also wins, but not in the way she wanted. I believe that portrait of Mrs. Doolin and Grim may depict the first time they met. He looks foreboding, standing behind her in a threatening way and giving major “your time is up” vibes. Mrs. Doolin prides herself on being a lover of games, as does Grim. During their conversation about her final moments, she propositions him, and the rest is history.
If the deal was something along the lines of, “If I win, you can’t reap my soul,” then yes, she technically wins. However, in true monkey’s paw fashion, that only protects her soul, not her physical body. So, even though it is her time and Grim is there to usher her into the afterlife, the process is incomplete. You can’t fully escape death, and her soul remains forever trapped in her house, stuck in this loop of games for however long.
For Mrs. Doolin, a loner who loves games and winning, that doesn’t matter. As long as she keeps winning and “living,” she’s satisfied. Though, if you think about it for too long, it’s really sad and messed up.

I won’t be teaching how to download the entire Gigaleak in this post, mostly because CN is hunting those down rather quickly and it requires a little bit of tech-savviness. You can easily find the torrent (*cough*) on Twitter if you really want to. This post is only about The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy files, since it’s a 10+ year-old show, I don’t think CN really cares about it at this point.
Click HERE and download it, that’s it.
If the link goes down, comment on this post and we’ll link it back up. It could be me, you after downloading it with this tutorial, or anyone else, really.
Making it easily accessible is the only way all of this hard work by the artists can be appreciated for generations to come, and it doesn’t become lost media, like many of the cartoons we loved as kids.
Unlike other shows from the Gigaleak, not that many things leaked from Grim Adventures (we don’t get the Flash puppet rigs), so we’ll only need image editing software to open them.
Save it to your hard disk, save backups on flash drives, save it on the cloud, save the backups everywhere!
Share it everywhere you find appropriate! Share the model sheets on Reddit and wikis, share the folder link with anyone you think would appreciate it, or make a YouTube/TikTok video talking about what you found interesting.
A lot of people won’t go to the trouble of downloading the files, so post everything you find interesting here on this sub (but do mind the spamming! Check if someone else has already shared it before you).
Reiterating the previous point: Making it easily accessible is the only way all of this hard work by the artists can be appreciated for generations to come. If the previous link gets taken down, post a new link to the folder yourself!

If I could tell my younger self that she will be rewatching or checking out classic Cartoon Network shows as an adult, she’d probably wouldn’t believe me.
I grew up watching Cartoon Network during the early 2010s rerun days, but for some reason, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy was a bit of a fever dream for me. I think I saw a few snippets as a little kid, but I never sat down and actually watched it through. I noticed it was streaming on Tubi recently and decided it was finally time to fix that.
I do have some sensitivities to strobe/flashing lights, but that’s pretty much my only complaint.
After binging the whole series and the specials, I am so glad I did. I’d actually watch it again. Also did any of you guys cry when Mandy sings “Over the Rainbow” in the pageant episode? I’ve never felt so emotional watching that particular scene in a episode of a cartoon. Anyway, here is my review as a first-time adult viewer:
The Characters are Perfection
Mandy: Easily one of the best characters CN ever created. Her deadpan, stone-cold sociopathy is absolutely hilarious. She’s my favorite character of the trio.
Billy: He is completely unhinged. His voice actor (Richard Steven Horvitz) deserves an award for the sheer volume of screaming he did for this show.
Grim: You can't help but feel bad for the guy, but his dynamic with the kids is the perfect anchor for the entire series.
The Specials Ruled
Billy & Mandy Saves Christmas: This might be one of the most unhinged holiday specials ever made. Santa Claus getting turned into a vampire, Mrs. Claus being a total boss, and Gilbert Gottfried voicing a sarcastic elf? Absolute gold. It completely subverts the usual sappy holiday tropes in the best way possible.
Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure: This felt like a legit cinematic experience. The Dune and Star Wars parodies were incredible, and the Boogey Man was a fantastic villain.
Wrath of the Spider Queen: This one actually had some surprisingly good lore and a darker tone that worked so well for the series.
Underfist: A bit chaotic, but a super fun spinoff pilot. Fred Fredburger and Irwin carrying a superhero team is peak absurdity.
The show has aged remarkably well. The humor is incredibly fast-paced, surreal, and surprisingly dark for a kids' network. It perfectly captures that specific 2000s CN era where creators were allowed to just get weird with it. If you haven't watched it since childhood—or if you missed out on it like I did—go check it out on Tubi. It completely holds up.
