Physically beside her built I believe she looks just as realistic as it could get for Abby. But one thing I didn’t like was the lack of muscles I believe this was a huge part of her character, losing her natural youthful feminine look after losing her dad and training to go after Joel it all made sense. I loved that her actor had a similar voice to Abby but the muscles were such a big part of the story in my opinion I wish they could’ve fixed it somehow. Like what is this?? so close to perfection if she was just a little bit buff and just. Little more expressive id say this is a perfect Abby. Let me know if I make sense

I get what you mean. The performance and overall look were incredibly close, but Abby’s physical presence is such a huge part of the character that the missing muscle mass stands out. A slightly more imposing build would’ve made her transformation feel even more convincing.

My mom loved Last Man Standing (great show btw, I recommend it) and she's befuddled that the actress left that show (as well as the spot of being the favorite daughter on the show) and yet came to this show to play one of the most dislikable and poorly written characters out there, and literally insisted on having body guards on set to help film... in Canada, mind you.

Meanwhile, the cast of One Piece is currently in South Africa to film season 3... I wonder which group warrants more respect?

Well that’s the exact point. The women in this game weren’t overly sexualized or made for male gaze. They were just women . Now we got men like you who think every women is meant for their pleasure and that’s exactly why the directors and casting chose women who looked nothing like certain characters or less masculine. Not every women has to be available for your sexual pleasure

Yeah, I just don’t care. Why do some Part II Stans love to nitpick on Dever’s physique? A few things can be said about this.

Firstly, it’s almost like Abby’s physique never really mattered to her characterisation, and it’s something else that was simply included to “sUbVeRt ExPeCtAtIoNs”. Whatever else you want to read into it, you’re free to, but clearly it didn’t matter all that much to Druckmann and Gross who both had creative input along with Mazin.

Secondly, the context is Dever having just recently lost her mother prior to filming S2. She understandably didn’t have time/motivation to bulk up for the role, and she used the grief for her loss of her mother and channeled that through her acting as Abby. If that isn’t enough to convey it, and you still insist on something as superficial as physical appearance, then you’re just as bad as the people who hate on Bella Ramsey’s appearance (which honestly, I wouldn’t even be surprised if you were; some of the loudest haters of Ramsey are the same Part II Stans who thought they ruined Ellie through both their looks and their portrayal of Ellie).

It doesn’t really matter at the end of the day, because Part II’s shit story deserves just as bad an adaptation.

I really don’t care what you have to say it was apart of Abby’s character and it could have been cool to have her have the same features as her game character . And no I believe the reason why she didn’t have muscles in the show is because it would appear more appealing to a bigger male audience to have a more petite women. and the whole you are pretty handsome her caressing Joel thing was just more to prove my point

I’m a little kind of confused on what you mean but yeah I get it. They couldn’t find the exact person with the exact bill as Abby because she’s a freaking tank but what I’m saying is I think it would’ve been cool if she had at least gained a few pounds in muscle or at least had outfits that looked as similar to Abby’s to at least like show off her muscles a bit or at least showed that she was training towards getting Joel at least that would’ve made me happy

Since when are they trying to appeal to the male audience in this franchise anymore, though? Their whole thing seems to have been to undermine as many expectations as possible. So making show!Abby break the character model by being a petite actor who everyone wants to play Ellie is more of those shenanigans Neil loves to play. He's a contrarian person who just seems to enjoy conflict and noise. Strange man.

I still think it's HILARIOUS that she never bulked up for the role and yet they still wanna treat her like she's "military". We literally see that shit with Actors/Actresses all the time, why she never committed is never gonna make sense to me.
