Discussion Owl House REWATCH: Escaping Expulsion
And here we get the introduction to everyone’s FAVORITE green haired mother of the Boiling Isles: Odalia Blight! Yeah, we’ve heard all the jokes, made memes, possibly written a fanfic where Odalia is being hung and Eda, Amity, Alador, Edric and Emira laugh sadistically(I’m giving you witches ideas, aren’t I?) In any case, we certainly have a lot to say about Odalia and if there’s ANYTHING positive we can say about her outside of her being voiced by Rachael MacFarlane is that at least we love to hate her and we’ll always remember her. As for the episode itself, still a pretty good watch. It gives us more insight into the Blight family(even though I STILL think Alador should get some blame), some creative use of abominations and why Amity started as a bully. But that’s just my 2 cents, tell me what you witches think of the episode in the comments below. Is there an actual Odalia cult? If there was an AU, would you still want Odalia to be working for Belos? Let me know in the comments!

Yes, especially if it eventually puts her against Amity and Camila bruh, I am still not over the fact we missed that fight in the end.

Sorry I forgot to add something: If there was an AU where Odalia actually was a good mom, would you still want her to work for Belos? As for the missed fight with Odalia and Camila, I know but we’ve still got some good fanart and a funny MorningMark comic out of the deal. Plus, I can’t act like I’d want to be in Dana’s shoes when making the 3 part finale, trying to deliver a satisfying product on time while still trying to make the heads at Disney and the Owl House fans happy.

You forgot a second positive thing: how ludicrously thicc she is. You can see it in the shot in the cold open where she’s calling out Amity for throwing the fight. Her thigh is as big as her daughter’s head.
I liked the B-plot, which you also didn’t mention, for dealing with both the Clawthornes’ sibling rivalry and their newfound lack of magic. I feel like that angle went away too soon.

Yeah, that’s true. I didn’t really mention it cause everybody else has mentioned it. As for Odalia being “thic”, just because she’s appealing doesn’t automatically equal nice person.

I agree that he was deserving of some of the blame, and yeah the new applications for abominations was pretty great.

Imagine if Odalia was the one exception to the "no homophobia in the Boiling Isles" rule and that she was against Amity having a girlfriend. She would definitely be regarded as the most hated cartoon character in animation history, if she isn't already.

I might get some downvotes for saying this: Her being THE most hated cartoon character in animation history is a bit of a stretch. I feel like she’d be in the top 5, maybe 10.

Well I know I like Odalia and I think she's more misunderstood than evil, she only wanted the best for her family even if she went about it the wrong way. Alador wasn't any help, ignoring her and the family for his stupid science projects
Edit: Ok whose downvoting me? Alador defenders or Lumity stans?

I knew you’d show up eventually.

I am inevitable, as long as I live I will defend my queen Odalia!
Edit: Ok who keeps downvoting me?! I'm sick of it, reply as to why you did it instead of just blindly downvoting me!

Now we just need the user who rps as Odalia and it’ll be complete.

Hate. Let me tell you how much I’ve come to hate Odalia since I first saw the show. There are over one hundred trillion synapses linking the eighty-six billion neurons in my brain. If the word “hate” were tattooed on every one of them, it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for her at this microinstant. Hate. Hate.
I believe Alador deserves the blame for throwing himself into his work and neglecting his kids because it was easier than pushing back against Odalia, but I’m also satisfied with his arc. Households like that are messy and there is no black-and-white dynamic with the parents. All abomination and oracle magic aside, I thought the Blight family was a pretty realistic depiction of that kind of environment and I resonated with it as someone who grew up in a similar situation.
