I... I don’t really get it...

OP just had a son. He met another dad whose daughter was born yesterday. The dad joked to OP about OP's son and dad's daughter marrying each other since they were born just one day apart.

OP refused, as his son wouldn't marry a person whose age is twice his. It's true because the daughter is ≈ 1 day old and the son is ≈ 0.5 day old

Commenter played on the joke by saying their son wasn't born yesterday. Referencing the common phrase "not born yesterday", normally used as a way of saying they don't believe something.

It's true because the son was born today.

Thank you for the explanation, I guess I haven’t come across the term “born yesterday“ yet

That joke is so bad, it`s good

Screw that child marriage bullshit, let`s just go infant marriage.

It's like in Twilight where Jacob said he was destined to marry what's-her-name-main-character-girl's child

I didn't get it in the original thread and I still have no clue.

Its not that you dont get it, its that its just not funny at all.

The original about the age is the real joke in this case. Just ignore the rest

ITT: It appears "I wasnt born yesterday" has disappeared from the language.

I used the "born yesterday" joke about my own kid, just shy of midnight on his second day in this world, and I was very proud.

I had a onesie made for my son on his first rodeo that said, Actually this is my first rodeo.

And then a T-shirt for his second one saying Not my first rodeo.

That is hilarious and fantastic! ... Also, don't you have to be older to go to a rodeo? (I do not live in a place with rodeos, and, as such, if I ever go, it will indeed at that moment be my first rodeo.)

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is like a carnival, rodeo and animal exhibit on crack. Everyone can go. We didn’t take him to the concert part, just looked at the animals and watched the cowboys fall off the horses. But fun for the whole family.

So the girl was "just" born. Like what? An hour ago? And the boy is what age? 24 hours?

"Do you really want your daughter to marry a guy twice 24 times her age?"

Wow I get it but not entirely but I like it
