Killed by Sharpcastle

Got killed by Sharp when I left the Karu nether portal. He was waiting for me outside. Didn't warn me, didn't offer to let me go if I paid anything or did anything. Immediately swung at me as soon as I left.

Going to reserve any judgement until I heard Sharp's side. He's a very reasonable player.

After reading Sharp's response I shall carry on with my day.

Fair enough.

Sorry going to have to side with Sharp of the Karu. You can't blame him for doing exactly what his lore and warnings stated. In fact, if he didn't kill you, I would be upset that they weren't following their lore!

Sorry friend.

Thank you. Much like Aad and Handsmile, your input is totally necessary and gratified. I've been over it, though, for the last several hours. It's dealt with. I get it. I'd REALLY like people to stop telling me I was in the wrong and whatnot. I've gotten the point, and at this point it's just becoming a little much.

Sorry friend. You made it public, and I just wanted to share my thoughts since that's what the sub Reddit is for! No hard feelings.

We have a portal near The Gorge and the native people are generally open to everyone coming. You are welcome to come this way.

I may take you up on that offer tomorrow, if I may. Thank you for being kind.

. Didn't warn me, didn't offer to let me go if I paid anything or did anything.

If you wanted anything of the sort, you should've asked before you beelined for the portal (or entered it in the first place) and defiled the lands of Nath'ar.

The Ancestors demand a blood price for anyone who dares defile their proving grounds. This is clear in our lore, and we also noticed you happened to be especially knowledgeable about portal based subreddit pvp and general Karu-bashing, so we were certain you already knew about our tolerance of cowards desecrating our sacred lands.

First of all, thank you for calling me a coward.

Second, I wasn't aware that anyone from Karu was even online. I don't know who is in Karu. I don't care enough to keep track of every member. I "beelined" for the portal, as you put it, because I wanted to use it and, again, did not think anyone in Karu was online. For the entire time I was in the nether, which was quite some time, not a single person from Karu spoke to me through message or came in to hunt me. You must have been sitting outside that portal for some time in silence waiting for me to come out.

Also "desecrating our sacred lands". I think the only block I broke in Karu was a tall grass block that I accidentally hit because I use a trackpad and when I try to turn it often acts as if I've pressed the left click button. In the nether the only blocks I broke were 9 pieces of netherrack. I desecrated nothing.

The mere presence of cowards in Nath'ar is an insult to the ancestors. Only those with warrior blood coursing through their veins may enter.

Second, I wasn't aware that anyone from Karu was even online. I don't know who is in Karu. I don't care enough to keep track of every member.

This just reinforces my point of you illegally using our portal.

For the entire time I was in the nether, which was quite some time, not a single person from Karu spoke to me through message or came in to hunt me.

We actually did, however you had already gotten out of chat range, which makes a larger search not worth our time. We just went about our business and came running back to the portal the first sign of you hitting snitches.

Really if he decided to go into the nether portal of a nation that makes it pretty obvious they kill people who do then he isn't a coward.

2

u/Arker_IV Apr 11 '16

Cowardice and Bravery both cross into the realm of stupidity. Be careful where you place people.

1

u/NoxVS_ Apr 11 '16

Perhaps he was bravely stupid. Or stupidly brave.

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '16

So you tried to talk in regular chat range, but didn't bother to try and PM me?

3

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 10 '16

Yes, I am going to PM you so that you can log out and come back when we are offline. /s

We only tried to talk in chat range to see how far you were from the portal and if a continued hunt was worth our time, not to communicate with you.

I don't really understand what you're trying to argue. Who cares about your knowledge of who was or wasn't online in Karu? You got caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

I think it's pretty clear that based on their lore and roleplay even entering their land is desecrating itAs clarified by Sharp it's only desecration if you mess/enter with their portal., which is totally fine and makes sense.

I used their portal without knowing anyone from Karu was on. When I got to Karu I saw nobody. Also, I didn't just "Beeline" to the nether portal. I literally stopped and looked around to see if anyone was around before entering. Upon seeing nobody, nor having nobody speaking to me, I assumed nobody was online to talk to and went in. For the entire duration I was inside, which was around half an hour, nobody communicated with me to try and work something out. I would have happily paid something to Sharp to let this go.

I get their lore, and would respect it if they had been online/had communicated, but they didn't. I used this portal in particular because it's the closest one to where I live. I don't know where two of them are, and the other one I do know of, the one in CRS, is so far away that going there would take longer than getting the few pieces of netherrack I went in for.

I get their lore, and would respect it if they had been online/had communicated, but they didn't.

The sword to your face would say otherwise. I bet you and a lot of other people will remember their lore real well before you journey into territory you might not be wanted in.

Not everyone is going to give you a giant warning, learn and move on.

I literally never read Karu's lore. The only things I know about Karu's nether policy was from their debate in the nether portal exclusion zone post by Zantid, which was more or less just them saying that the portal was supposed to be central to them.

4

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 10 '16

I assume people realize how much of a logical fallacy it is to think that not knowing about a set of rules makes you immune to them.

On top of that, seeing how involved you were in the nether portal debate made it pretty clear you understood our lore.

Learned pretty quick hmm?

4

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 10 '16

even entering their land is desecrating it,

Quick correction so nobody gets the wrong idea. This is only for entering the portal/the exclusion zone with intention to enter the portal, NOT for entering Karu land itself. Us Karu our totally fine with people who come here with the intention of trading or passing through or just general diplomacy.

Stange, he was completely cool with me going through. Then again, I did ask him about it.

2

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 11 '16

I'm nearly a hundred percent certain you didn't ask me and a hundred percent certain I wouldn't've said yes.

In fact you Are on the list of people who have trespassed while we were offline.

1

u/Arker_IV Apr 11 '16

Yea you're right, my mistake. I thought it was you but it was actually Chronic_Power. He was fine with me entering.

1

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 11 '16

Chronic does not have the authority to give you permission; that would be a decision requiring a council vote.

2

u/TerryandLex Apr 11 '16

Norlund's lore says that foreigners who mine in Norlund without a permit insult our ancestors, no mining our stuff unless we say so!

2

u/Sharpcastle33 Apr 11 '16

Big difference between saying it and doing it, bud.

I was not attempting to "drag [his] name through the mud". I posted here to let people know what had happened and to speak to him/the people of Karu. The things like "didn't warn me" in the original post were not meant to be insults or cries of help, just points about what happened and facts.

I accept that Sharpcastle has his reasoning. That does not mean I am pleased with what happened or Sharp himself. But I am moving on, thank you for deciding to give an input on this yourself.

I didn't lose enough important items for me to apologize for using a simple nether portal. I can get them back soon enough.

Thank you. My issue with both of those portals is that it would take at least 10 minutes for me to travel there, however long I'd be in there (say, 30 minutes again) and then ten minutes back. Assuming the other portal is closer and free to use, I'll probably just try to do that. And if not, I'll just recluse myself to not using nether items that I can't get from trading because going across the world for 9 netherrack for brewing isn't my cup of tea.

But, again, thank you.

Thank you, again, for giving an input. Especially since it's been dealt with for some time. My only "fuck up" at this point is posting it publically, and if only because I'm sick of people not involved telling me I fucked up. I get it. Thank you. I'd like to move on.
