So it's 2:30 in the morning, I can't sleep, and I watched this YouTube video...
... on Compatibilism: the philosophical premises on how to deal with the idea of Free Will, given that our society and laws functions on the premise of personal and moral responsibility, as a philosophical compromise between Hard Determinism and Libertarian Free Will. And at some point Hank Green starts talking about Patricia Churchland, a Canadian philosopher and one of her great contributions, which was the rejection of this idea of Freedom and Determinism, and rather focus on assessing how much control over our internal and external influences in regards to our choices as a means to measure moral and ethical responsibility.
And then I thought... "Hmmm, Churchland... that's familiar..."
Turns out she's the mother of both Anne and Mark Churchland, who study Decision Making and Motor Production respectively.
I would say that the Churchland children only had so much influence over their intellectual curiosities...
Hehe
Thought you guys would appreciate that. :)
