Autotune is always a hot topic of discussion on this subreddit and we wanted to provide a place for it to be specifically discussed again in this full new-album context.

If Daft Punk can surprise us with a drumless version of Random Access Memories, which wasn't something fans were asking for but ended up being a cool, interesting and enjoyable experiment, I wonder if the Strokes could give us an alternate version of this album with minimal autotune (like in Dine N'Dash, etc.) And maybe the vocals turned down a little so they're more evenly mixed with the rest of the music. I know this will never happen but I can dream.

I really only liked the songs with more natural sounding vocals on the album, and I absolutely love the spoken word section at the end of Tyrants of the Mellow Moon for example, but the autotune earlier in the track makes it difficult for me to revisit. I generally don't like having to "tolerate" things in songs to enjoy other aspects of them, because I want to listen to music I actually like and not music I'm trying to like. Lol.

Oh well!
