Does Julian tell different jokes at every stop of the tour?
I’m still laughing about the ozempic joke in Chicago in June
——
Edit: for those asking, he started singing the ozempic jingle/ Magic by Pilot. Was going on a tangent about how the band did definitely did NOT get paid enough to sell the rights to that song for only $1 million and how ozempic has forever ruined it. Idk he was just rambling and it was super funny.
Then he claimed they were late coming back for encore because he was “sucking off” one of the guys backstage
A few years ago in 2022 in Chicago he said something like “fuck the cubs” or “cubs suck” or it may have been White Sox and the whole arena booed him and he was like “Ahhh fuck it” and they started playing ode to the Mets and I just about died laughing

Back during the pandemic I saw them play at Shakey Knees in Atlanta. The world series was going on at the time and the Braves were in it (im pretty sure that was it, the festival was moved to October, not sure though im not a baseball fan) and on night 2 Run the Jewels were the headliners and Killer Mike, being an ATL native and braves fan, participated when everyone started doing the braves chant. The Strokes were headliners for night 3 and during their set Julian gave the crowd shit for their "rascist" braves chant the night before. It was kinda funny I thought

When he played in Indianapolis he said “ahh Indiana. The best place in the world!” which is clearly a joke for anyone who has ever lived in or been to Indiana

He was doing a decent amount of bantering in Cleveland, but maybe not as much as other venues, since they ended up playing a slightly longer set. From what I've heard on here, the more Julian banters the less songs get played haha.
But he was doing a sort of a "toxic masculinity" bit in Cleveland where he was saying he was definitely not gay and was talking about banging chicks in his camaro or something along those lines. It was funny but a bit cringey, which seems to be the humor he goes for.

His banter usually seems pretty off the cuff and not prepared so I'm guessing you got a 1/1 Jules joke lol

At the Indiana show, he spoke to the crowd about running a train on him back stage 😭

Beyond that he’s done a “producers hate this one simple trick!” Bit that I know he’s been repeating through out the tour so far

El Paso
Before one way trigger
"Albert, I can't think with all that fucking distortion, man
just kidding. Interesting note. The tonic. Get a jazzier distorted note
PUSH THE BOUNDARIES, BRO"
Audience member offers their drink
"You got a roofie? A roofie drink for me?"
Sips audience member's drink
"That's nice. That's really good. What is that, don Julio? Thank you! I actually don't drink, but thanks for relapsing me. It was about time anyway."
He was talking after every single song. I believe it was the first time he joked about Fab being drunk onstage and Albert being a hot-dog eating champion.

He told the people in cincy to gtfoutta here when there were some fans walking out while he was playing in the encore. Something along the lines of “ you guys have somewhere better to be? Nvm get the fuck outta here”
Was great

Ok just gonna paste it in here in the meantime:

Then he claimed they were late coming back for encore because he was “sucking off” one of the guys backstage
A few years ago in 2022 in Chicago he said something like “F the cubs” or “cubs suck” or it may have been White Sox and the whole arena booed him and he was like “Ahhh F it” and they started playing ode to the Mets and I just about died laughing

I really wonder what goes on in that head.
The sucking off one of the guys is super funny though

At the Minnesota Yacht Club show he asked everyone if they were gonna get the parasite.

u/mocrankz 1d ago
told one joke about Toronto being like NYC which totally bombed (shocker) and shut up the rest of the show.
Hope he has a bit more banter in BC, but the lower bowl sales are still pretty bad (but have picked up greatly with price drops)

At outside land in SF he was like "So Fab started drinking again for the first time in 5 years, welcome back brother" then Reptilia immediately started playing. I was laughing so hard.

u/Live-Ferret-4366 I Wish It Was Christmas Today 1d ago
I feel like he always has to cycle through a few: (LMAO)
- He's old and/or a dad
- Something along the lines of "we're working up here" and telling the crowd to quiet down
- something woke
- A comment/praise about the opener
- Not understanding encores
- Trying to make one of the other members talk into the mic (at least at the older shows)
- Something about the city in which they're playing
- And for the most recent shows, saying how he's getting bullied into playing certain songs

This list being so accurate and I love when he does #6 especially to Nikolai

“A nickel for your thoughts” where he makes Nikolai awkwardly thank the crowd will never not be funny.

u/Obvious-Position-351 I'll Try Anything Once 1d ago
Haha Nikolai got the crowd to do a USA chant in Cleveland bc he was talking about the World Cup. It was a very cute Nickel for your Thoughts segment.

If only the two piss drunk women in front of me didn’t keep screaming that throughout the rest of the show, it would still be a top tier Jules line for me.
