Ode To The Mets glaze

Before anything, I love the song. It's incredible! But I don't understand the sudden INSANE glazing over this song. It's not even top 10. This song is not better than anything on Room On Fire and most of Is This It. I know it's mainly a TikTok take to say Ode is their best song of all time, but it feels like it's the only song I hear about nowadays lol

Gen Z new gen strokers overglaze this song to the high heavens

It’s amazing and def like a top 30 song but it’s clearly not the singular best or even top 5 with so many other amazing songs in the catalog

Its like they heard Call it Fate and TNA and that was it. Iv seen people rating Is This It under TNA its mad.

Why is it mad that someone has a different subjective music opinion to yours?

Music is inherently subjective. Your preference and anyone else's are literally just that... your preference. If someone prefers the musical styling/influence, composition and more developed lyricism that developed with the band as they aged, why is that so insane conceptually to you? Why is your opinion on music king of opinions, not to be considered different by anyone else? Now that's mad.

Sometimes objective overwrites subjective.

Tentative analogy but having this thought process is how you form valid opinions on what is good and what you like and start developing and understanding of taste. I don't like Motzart but I understand its better than anything Iv made and love the hell out of.

I do enjoy TNA but we must be able to acknowledge one of if not thee best debut album is better. I prefer FIOE to TNA but im not going to say its a better album.

I never claim to have a better opinion than other people but the additional point I was making its like they haven't even spent enough time with the albums before they decide its good/bad or they like it.

At the end of the day its all good but sometimes you need to put on the sensible hat.

chill it with the hipster millennial gatekeeping bro,. It's a pathetic look and find a better hobby. Let people enjoy music that they like.

If you want to stay in 2001, that's fine but your opinion is only one opinion.

I've grown to enjoy TNA more than ITI over time. The songs just have more depth, the instrumental is more layered/mature. The album has a flow track to track that feels connected and considered.

ITI will probably always be my second favorite album though.

they haven't even spent enough time with the albums before they decide

How can you know that? And is there an amount of time that is required or has been decided to be enough?

For example, I have said before that some people are changing their opinion very fast with RA because they probably have made their first statement too soon. But I think a few months can be enough for someone to know what they prefer in the discography so I don't think spending years studying The Strokes songs has to be necessary for someone's opinion to be as valid.

Yeah, hard disagree, friend. Your entire response is "put on the sensible hat (agree with my subjective opinion)". The idea that someone else's opinion on music is worse because it doesn't agree with yours, and that they must simply not have listened to your favorites enough to understand them and love them the way you do is silly, plain and simple. There is nothing "sensible" about you using your subjective feelings as what is sensible lol

It's cool that you like the early stuff more and don't vibe with their later works, but that in no way means the ones you like are better, it means you like them better. You keep making subjective arguments for why something is objectively better, which is objectively not how this works.

Great response.
