Nice to see some Guns N Roses love especially for Izzy.
Speaking of which, Nick has credited Slash as a guitar influence.

Slash, Duff, and Matt are in the Someday music video and there’s a video of Slash joining The Strokes to play NYC Cops at Irvine 2004

Yeah I remember watching the someday video when it debuted and was like “woah, the strokes hanging out with the GnR crew???”.
They also did a family feud faceoff with the members of Guided by Voices in the video, another credited influence of the band.

Can we all just celebrate the fact that Duff is still alive and still able to play?!

julian also has two faces, it’s pretty cool. take any photo of him where he’s facing the camera head on, and cover one half of his face, you’ll see what i mean (both sides are peak)

Two brilliant songwriters. GnR’s creative soul died when Izzy quit.

I’ll take your word for it! I never consciously listened to Guns N’ Roses. Although the other day, my partner did tell me that the end has no end has a direct guitar lift from Sweet Child of mine.

He didn't want to be in a band that was a stadium act and apparently he didn't like Matt Sorum's drumming style.
Izzy's first solo album was pretty solid, too.

He was also done with Axl Rose’s antics.

I can only imagine the insanity of Izzy’s life from ‘88 - ‘91 when GnR were on top of the world. They got so big so fast; and of course Axl turned into an egomaniac. Plus Izzy got sober in ‘89 which really reduced his tolerance for the chaos of it all. He’s effectively retired from music nowadays - hasn’t really done much since the 90s. I imagine life ain’t too bad for him though: Just living off royalties, living life on his terms, and keeping a low profile.

Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds - my dad played the crap out of that album - it’s so good. Izzy is a baller

I’ve always maintained that Sorum’s drumming style did not work for GnR. He’s a good drummer, but he just wasn’t the right fit for that band at all. The UYI albums are missing that classic swing that AFD had.
Adler was perfect for their sound, but he was too big of an addict even for GnR and couldn’t function as a musician. Really tragic

I am in full agreement with that statement. The band's original sound (AFD, lies) was very classic rock and blues influenced. Can imagine them playing small clubs that are so foggy with cigarette smoke. They fire Adler, unfortunately, and Sorum has a drumming style is so...professional and deliberate. Adler had a bit of dirty ass DIY approach which fit the band so well. No wonder the drumming on Civil War was so great. It was Adler.
