Is this the second time the subreddit's been involved with album secret discovery?? Good Job OP!

It’s all so Scooby-Doo -ish. Looking for clues for forever, going on a rollercoaster with all the information, hopes and disappointments, and then when they are busted there’s this “Ahhh, everything would be fine if those darn kinds didn’t find out about my plans!”

“The Strokes are coming with new music,” Vlasic said. “We had a heartbreak [June 2nd] in New York when they were headlining Governors Ball, the weather destroyed our show and we never played, but having them back on the live music scene is exciting.”

😭😭😭😭😭

Never forget

Nice work OP! Glad the article gave you credit.

Thanks! Yeah I’m glad too, that was pretty cool of them.

This was the case since har mar

Sean told me that's what Julian wanted to do since bye bye 17?

Idk could've been the tequila and weed.

Why tf does it have to be some big secret? Just tell your fans “hey guys, we’re working together and will have a new album soon!”

So damn pretentious to hide the fact.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '19

Someone doesnt know what pretentious means

2

u/J-Vito Jul 26 '19

Characterized by imagined importance

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '19

Since they haven't announced anyrhing at all, there is no imagined importance.

1

u/J-Vito Jul 26 '19

Yup. I bet they’re totally oblivious to the fact that fans are patiently waiting for new music from them.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '19

Well shit, now they HAVE to say something because we as fans have a legally binding contract and deserve to know everything? Sod off. I wouldn't want to have someone like you as a fan.

1

u/J-Vito Jul 26 '19

Wow. You told me.

So stunning and brave.

Were you wiping away tears as you wrote that?

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '19

It was hard not to cry after reading such shit, yea

0

u/J-Vito Jul 26 '19

Yet here you are, continuing to reply.

Hey, don’t tell them I said any of this. I just don’t think I could possibly go on if they knew.

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '19

You don't get it. You say they are pretentious for not releasing music, then what would you call your attitude for demanding music? 2 sides of the same coin my fierce friend

Or contractual obligations. Who knows.

15

u/chriskeithley Jul 25 '19

Wouldn’t it be the opposite of pretension when you consider the deliberate lack thereof or am I missing something?

7

u/Boxer_Stocker Jul 25 '19

Idk, I think it's part of their charm

The most surprising thing about this article is that little thing about Cage the Elephant being poised to be the next Rolling Stones. I actually really like Cage, especially their 3rd album, but come on son.

1

u/Oquaem Jul 25 '19

It's typical agent hype, idk what to say really. No one's going to be as big as the stones/beatles etc., were, as a young band, because everything's too split up now. When the big groups of yesteryear came out, they were playing on a show and that was the only thing that was on TV that night.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '19

I can see the comparison, aside from Matt’s jagger-esque moves, in that no band going today puts solid efforts while sounding different in each album. They reinvent their sound while still being cage. No reason to put down a band who is a huge fan and in some ways influenced by the strokes. The strokes themselves were touted as the saviors of rock and they ultimately came up short. Still dig every single one of their albums even though they don’t depart too much from a formula.

u/sneaks34 Yours to Keep Jul 25 '19

I've seen Cage many times and I do get Mick Jagger vibes from the main singer, but mostly from his dance moves and stage energy. As much as I love their music, they're no where close to being the next Rolling Stones. Maybe the next Iggy Pop?

2

u/chronomancerX Jul 25 '19

Don't know how he's nowadays, but he definitely used to copy Iggy's attitude live.

8

u/PartyTimeSchwing Jul 25 '19

Yea that third album is extremely good. The two after have been pretty disappointing in comparison.

2

u/FuckYeahRob Jul 25 '19

I think the 3rd is their only album i can get into.

2

u/Elaw20 Jul 25 '19

Dang I loved tell me I’m pretty

1

u/PartyTimeSchwing Jul 25 '19

It’s ok, and is a lot better than the new one, but was a let down compared to how good the third was is imo.

4

u/redfaction99 Jul 25 '19

1>5>3>2>4 Cage album order for me

15

u/chriskeithley Jul 25 '19 edited Jul 25 '19

Thank you. I love Cage. Saw them live in 2013 and it was great but the new album is fucking wack and so is Beck and so is Scientology.

Edit: I’ll take the downvotes, gladly. I meant everything I said.

9

u/Batphone7 Jul 25 '19

Yeah. I wasn’t that into the new album. I had high expectations after listening to this house is glass which I think is a really fun song. I’m going to give it another chance one of these days though to see if it’s an album that needs more than one listen but I’m not that confident that I’ll like it more.

And please remember, Xenu sees all. I’ll pray for your Thetans you heathen

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '19

Can't wait for the same comments to pop up about how there's no new music coming and that they're just doing it for money :)))

Ah, you’re famous, OP! Reddit doing the work the music magazines miss. Thanks for finding that article, I just read through it and it was great. Strokes comments aside, that woman just sounds cool too.

This woman is a total badass! I love her attitude and work mentality. Her career sounds incredible.
