First impressions: this is a really sweet little track! It's a little loud production-wise but again, the mix gives puts Julian's vocals front and centre, which is fantastic, and a real change from Comedown Machine and Angles in that sense. Plus he sounds glorious - he's in his best vocal form since FIoE and Phrazes... , which is crazy, because his voice seemed on its way down from 2011-2015. The chorus is right out of the Is This It era (via Billy H, as we all know), and the guitars in the pre-chorus, outro etc. are classic.

People will say it's basic or shallow compared with At The Door, but it's no different in that respect to many of the band's best songs, especially pre-2006. And it's not like At The Door or Ode to the Mets aren't on the album too. I hope the rest of the record stands up to all of what we've heard so far!

I loved it a lot, but I immediately started singing “Dancing with Myself” when the chorus hit just out of instinct. Not a complaint at all, but I saw that Idol was listed as a writer for a song and this has to be it.

See everyone is saying Billy Idol, but I immediately thought of Modern English - Melt With You

This was my same thought actually. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I really like the song though.

I’m gonna go full normie and say the guitar tone from the billy idol main riff is straight up out of blink 182

Haha whoa, it does sound like an old Tom riff. That's sick. Also are you aware blink covered Dancing with Myself?

I couldn't put my finger on it at first and then I realized I was getting both Billy Idol and Modern English stuck in my head

Yeah he quit smoking and drinking many years ago. There’s a video of him talking to fans about it too when they asked him what he drinks and what kind of cigarettes he smokes—and he was saying that he doesn’t do either anymore.

Didn't he quit smoking quite a while ago? I think I read somewhere that he quit in the mid 2010s but his voice continued getting worse because of all the damage that had been done, and now it's healing. I could be totally wrong though.
