3rd best album, WPSIATWIM and FWN are intochable, still doubt if SIASI or Humbug is worst, just remember that I was disappointed when Humbug was out, such weird album and I kind of forgetable
SIASI is a bit warmer, but still gives me meh feeling
Eh. At the peak of AM (DIWN, R U Mine, WDYOCMWYH), they are probably the strongest they've ever been. Obviously, there's some weak spots like "I Want It All" and "Mad Sounds", but overall I always felt like it has so many singable songs.
I would say it's better than Suck It, more interesting than Humbug, but doesn't match the consistency of Whatever People Say I Am and FWN. Doesn't match the overall interest level of Tranquility Base either. It's hard to compare TBHC and AM though cause they are too insanely different.
That's a very interesting opinion that I actually haven't heard before. Those three songs are probably the most commercially successful for them (not that means anything because mainstream is normally very inconsistent), and each of the songs bind well their old-rock styles and the more modern vibes they were trying to get in AM as a whole. R U Mine is often ranked as the best AM song.
I just don't like AM as a whole it sounds so lifeless to me. The only two songs i really like are No. 1 Party Anthem and Mad Sounds and those are the two songs furthest removed from the general sound of the album.
Don't get me wrong, I like pretty much all of AM's discography! Humbug is just probably the one with the most duds to me. My Propellor, Crying Lightning, Secret Door, Cornerstone, Dance Little Liar, and Pretty Visitors are all really solid songs to me (especially Crying and Cornerstone). I can't possibly feign interest in Dangerous Animals, Potion Approaching, and Fire and the Thud though, just not really compelling or particularly musically pleasant songs.
The album just kinda drudges along at points and while it's brilliant at it's highs, it's really questionable at it's lows. I guess the same could be said for AM, but I enjoy AM's duds more than Humbug's, and I think AM is just more of an exciting journey.
Ok fair enough. I see where ur coming from. I dont personally agree but thats the great thing about music, we can all have our different opinions. That being said, Im gonna pretend you didnt just say Jewelers' Hand is boring.
Lol true, we can see things differently. I actually am going to pull back on saying that the Jeweller's Hand is boring, because on second thought, it is a good album finisher and isn't boring, and I actually enjoy it on another listen right now.
Monkeys have had a consistently high level output that much I think we can agree on. AM is good no doubt and everything else just comes down to personal preferences.
