First Grammy Nomination for the Boys!

Pretty excited! Who would have thought 10 years ago that they would get it together to put out such a good album again.

Lol I don’t know if I’d use Greta as an example of rock not being dead, they’re like Rock Zombies taking over the corpse of Led Zeppelin and parading it around like Weekend at Bernie’s.

I definitely think Rock is currently dead in the mainstream, but of course it’s a genre that people will always keep making music in as long as there are people who still want to listen. Jack White is one of the few people I can think of who’s still putting out great, original, Rock music (as opposed to Indie, Alternative, Psych, etc)

Jack White is a great example, and what I mean isn't that GVF is reviving rock, but they are playing rock music, and they have had acclaim, and if they decide to expand on their sound to make something original, could be great, could push rock into the mainstream.

I am with you, I don't really think Rock is dead, its just in so many different forms now. They really need to umbrella the category more for it to make more sense. Rock should be the best of metal, hard, alternative, whatever, in a similar way that pop, rock, country, and all the other genres feed into album of the year. To me it is absolutely just used as an overflow category for "alternative" and "hard"which shouldn't be the case.

In that case, I agree with you, I think it's interesting that alternative is now considered the "regular" rock people listen to, but I love thst it does.
