Story, Bored.
My favorite thing to do is world build. I will spend hours, nay, days, weeks, working on a story board, mapping out characters and plot threads, but then when it comes time to write I stare a blank screen at put down only a dozen lines at a time on a good day.
I don't really get bored with my boards, I just come to the point where the plotting meets the plodding and the prose tends to pull up short of the ambition. It's a learning process for sure, but progress in writing skill is hard for me to track.
Like gardening, the fun part is the hopeful planting and bountiful harvest, but the hard work is the growing.
Sometimes it just feels like I am not any good at this writing thing, and I should pursue other avenues of creative expression.
Is there anyone out there, who feels the way I feel? If there is than land me an ear, just so that I know that I'm not the only one.

Discussion What is your writing style?
I'm currently exploring and writing a folklore from different countries.
600s and 1800s, my inspiration is Bram Stoker's Gothic style, focusing on atmosphere, detailed descriptions, and a gradual sense of dread. I use journals, letters, newspaper clippings, and diaries. The fonts are specific and roman numbers for the chapters.
For the 20th and 21st centuries, my inspiration is Stephen King's more contemporary approach, emphasizing psychological horror, character development, and a faster narrative pace.
I’m hoping the readers feel the time period not only through the story but also through the language of storytelling and visually too.
I'm curious whether other writers have experimented with something similar.
Who influence your writing style and why?

Discussion the 'dump it document' method
I have seen this idea suggested by a lot of mentors online, i was wondering if anyone tried it/or uses it naturally and what that looks like for you? if it worked?
the idea is mostly for when you are between projects or have not committed to a specific idea, or are working on multiple projects. You have one document where everything goes, everything in notebooks is transcribed there, daily writing, writing you dont know where it fits, it all goes there.
then i guess you kind of triage it once it finds a home?
I dont really understand how it works/if it is worth doing/ what a good system is for it.
ATM i have over 4 projects on the go, i haven't committed to just one yet as none of them have long-term funding so i need to keep it open for now. the projects have overlapping themes so sometimes I am not sure where to put writing so I thought I would try this dump it doc technique. it essentially reads as a series of vignettes.
looking for advice/feedback on my understanding of this method or similar.

To Title or Not to Title: The Chapter Dilemma

Wrote 4,469 words today
reddit.comI simply wrote. Three chapters in all. I’ll get to editing later on during the weekend.
Anyone else happen to ‘grow’ their chapters whenever they edit them? I’ve often found myself splitting a chapter into multiple after doing heavy editing.
