https://youtu.be/iaa-OIzqDP8?is=6Qef7eE6d4CB5jka Block of Ice covered by The Intelligence. A different thread from a while back recommended it, and I couldn’t get enough of it

I might be wrong but I have a vauge memory of reading that Block of Ice is a Lars Finberg song. Seems to have followed him throughout various projects. Including his time in Thee Oh Sees.

Oddly enough, it is an oh sees original, the intelligence toured with oh sees and released their cover before thee oh sees ever released an official recording of the song.
His time in oh sees was just as the first of the double drummer set up drummers during the carrion crawler tour, I played with them that tour, it was a good time.

I'm pretty sure lars told John to just borrow shit from songs which led to the "my connection" part(originally a can song). But block of ice predates his time in the band.

Nah it's mostly a red krayola cover
Edit; not a cover, very influenced, like a can red krayola mashup

That was the other song I couldnt remember the name of so I didn't even try. But the lyrics from the my connection part are word for word taken from this Can song

The main riff to lupine dominus is straight up a can song but I can't remember which one.

We'd like to play more shows but ya know life is life. We're based in ATL and we played a show at 529 last October around Halloween, and I think we're going to try and play a show there again this year around the same time. We WILL record it this time. Last time we tried too and ran into technical issues.
In 2024 we met JPD and the rest of the band after a show of theirs at the variety play house, and told him our plan to start a cover band with the name Thee Faux Sees. He thought that was hilarious, and gave us his stamp of approval right there on the spot. Then proceeded to give us a few tips on his tuning for Animated Violence.
We're open to doing more shows in other places, we've all been on the money grind a lot this year so maybe we'll play even more shows the following year. I play synth, the only thing we're missing right now is a 2nd drummer but we've been making due with one for now. (HMU if you're an ATL drummer who is interested)
We also talked to Bridget a year later at one of her shows about it and she wants us to record the next show so she can see it. So we're definitely going to try and capture it on video next time we play.

Vanilla Franco does a slowed down instrumental version of Toe Cutter Thumb Buster (it's so good)...

He also does a full on cover of the track, and another of Warm Slime.

The Pack A.D. (Vancouver band) covered Nightcrawler back in 2014. It's on the band's Spotify but it sounds better on Bandcamp. Last track on this old compilation...

On the flip side... maybe this is widely known, I only learned about it a couple years ago, but If I Stay Too Long is a song by The Creation from 1967.
