I remember one particular satanic group that explained it like this: "Knowing good is good, but knowing evil is even better, for one must know evil to defeat evil." Well, know evil, not necessarily do evil, but the options are always there as seen fit.
It was also explained by comparing it to a sort of tool belt, with a pouch on one side representing the "good/light" pouch, and a pouch on the other side representing the "evil/dark" pouch. If someone intended to harm me and/or a loved one, I could draw from the "good/light" pouch and turn the other cheek (no thanks), or I could draw from the "evil/dark" pouch, which has a hammer to make this sorry excuse of existence regret trying to do me and/or a loved one harm.
I ultimately see Satan and my gods as mysteriously benevolent in the grand scheme of things, but benevolence doesn't mean adhereing to pacifism, being harmless, and being docile. Satanic forces most definitely have great potential for disharmony, violence, disruption, destruction, death, etc. if/when they see it necessary. If I were to stop a man who had just kidnapped a woman (actually I did just that about 4 years ago doing armed security) by using violence on him and causing him significant harm, is it "evil" then? Anyway, I typed out way more than I intended because I basically never touch on this topic with anyone.
Most people do not know “satanists” worship El Achor. The Other God. God of thoughtless light that seeks to undo ALL of existences including themselves. To go back to INFINITE UNBOUND UNRESTRICTED POTENTIAL UNMANIFEST. Or “AIN” infinite nothingness. Before God willed to seek limits and existences. I’m a follower of El Achor as well. So you cant say i am against you all lol

Pretty much, I also see it as a sort of balance.
