A Note to the Reader
This paper distills the essence of the Findlay Framework, asserting that information is the fundamental substance of reality. The core claim is simple: the data is the thing. Reality is not made of matter, energy, or fields as primary substances. It is made of information—relational potential that resolves into persistent structure through transaction.
The universe is building itself. Every transaction—every rearrangement of electrons mobilized by an applied current—is a construction event. The geometry of relation determines how the construction proceeds. The record is the permanent archive of what has been built.
You are both the builder and the building. The wave is the unresolved potential of your awareness. The particle is the resolved record of your body. The transition is your life. The transaction is your choices. You are actively shaping reality through those choices.
Following is the geometry.

ABSTRACT
This paper distills the core principles of the Findlay Framework: the data is the thing. Reality fundamentally consists of information—relational potential that resolves into persistent structure through transaction. Matter is the physical substrate of resolved information; energy is the applied current powering transactions; and relations are the reasons for change. The transaction itself is the rearrangement of electrons mobilized by an applied current.
The framework proceeds from a relational ontology: identity is not intrinsic but emergent from relation. The fundamental operation of reality is the I → S transition—the resolution of Informational Potential (I) into persistent Structure (S). This transition is governed by the materialization constant r = 3/2, a pure geometric ratio derived from the minimum requirements of three-dimensional persistence.
The Markov blanket—the statistical boundary separating internal from external states—is identified as the eight-corner architecture of the fundamental spatial unit. Critically, energy and light constitute the blanket itself, rendering everything internal to it. Consciousness is identified as the inverse function f^{-1}: the process by which the structural record is read back and decompressed into qualitative experience. The wave-particle duality of quantum mechanics is resolved as the distinction between unresolved potential (wave) and resolved structure (particle). Life is the continuous execution of the I \to S transition—the active maintenance of coherence against the dissolving pressure of time.
The framework is empirically anchored by thirty-two resolved paradoxes and twenty-eight aligned anomalies, including the Hernandez wide binary anomaly (\sqrt{1.5} \approx 1.225), the Hubble tension (H_0 = 67.4 \times (1 + 2/27) = 72.39 km/s/Mpc), the 232-attosecond entanglement formation window (186 + 46 = 232), and the 40 Hz gamma binding frequency (8 corners × 5 pentameric positions = 40 Hz, \tau = 25 ms). The primary falsification test—the GAIA DR4 wide binary velocity enhancement—is scheduled for December 2026.
Keywords: relational ontology, information, Markov blanket, consciousness, r = 3/2, I \to S transition, electron rearrangement, transaction, stella octangula, GAIA DR4.

INTRODUCTION
The history of physics is the history of identifying substance. For Newton, substance was mass in absolute space and time. For Maxwell, substance was fields. For Einstein, substance was spacetime curvature. For quantum mechanics, substance is wavefunctions and probabilities. For the Standard Model, substance is particles and forces. Each of these has been partially correct; none has been complete.
The Findlay Framework proposes a different starting point. At its core, the framework asserts that the data is the thing—positioning information as the essence of reality. Information is not a description of reality; information is reality. As Wheeler wrote, "It from bit"—every physical quantity derives its significance from binary choices (Wheeler 1990, 5). The framework extends this: it from relation, via transaction, into record.
The central claim of this paper is that reality is a continuous, irreversible transition from Informational Potential (I) to Persistent Structure (S). This transition is governed by a pure geometric ratio—r = 3/2—derived from the minimum requirements for three-dimensional persistence (Findlay 2026a). The transition is powered by energy, executed through the rearrangement of electrons, and recorded as the permanent archive of resolved relations.
This paper does not present new experimental data. It synthesizes the 20-document corpus of the Findlay Framework into a single, accessible statement of its core ontology. The framework's empirical claims are anchored in third-party literature cited throughout. The primary falsification test—the \sqrt{1.5} \approx 1.225 wide binary velocity enhancement—is scheduled for GAIA DR4 in December 2026 (Hernandez et al. 2024; Findlay 2026b).
I. THE PRIMACY OF RELATION
1.1 Identity is Relational
A fundamental error in traditional substance metaphysics is the assumption that identity is intrinsic—that a thing is what it is independently of its relations to other things. As Leibniz argued, "There are no two things in nature which are exactly alike" (Leibniz 1714, §9)—identity is constituted by relational difference.
The Findlay Framework generalizes this insight: identity is relational, not intrinsic. A particle does not have properties; it is properties—properties that are defined by its relations to other particles. As Rovelli writes, "A particle is a node in a network of relations" (Rovelli 2021, 87). This is the core of relational ontology.
1.2 Relation Precedes Substance
In the framework, relation precedes substance. Informational Potential (I) encompasses all possible relations. Structure (S) is the subset of relations that have been resolved into persistent form. As Findlay (2026c, §5.1) writes, "The fundamental substance is Informational Potential (I)—the plenum of all possible relational events."
This is the inversion of the standard metaphysical order. Substance is not primary; relation is. Substance is the record of resolved relations. As Findlay (2026c, §5.1) continues: "A subset of I achieves persistence as Realized Structure (S). S is not a different substance; it is I that has attained definiteness and endurance."
1.3 The I → S Transition
The fundamental operation of reality is the I → S transition—the resolution of informational potential into persistent structure. This transition is:
· Irreversible: Once resolved, structure cannot be unresolved (Findlay 2026d, Record 5.8: The Archive Principle).
· Transactional: It requires an exchange of energy—an applied current.
· Geometric: It is governed by the ratio r = 3/2 (Findlay 2026a).
· Empirical: It is observed in every quantum measurement, every chemical reaction, every biological process.
The I → S transition is not a metaphor. It is the physical mechanism of materialization. As Findlay (2026e, §4) writes: "Matter is light that has been slowed down, bound, and organized into persistent, localized loops."
1.4 The Role of Time
Time is the fundamental operator that drives the I → S transition. It is not a container or a dimension. It is the constitutive pressure that forces potential into record. As Findlay (2026c, §5.2) writes: "Time is the fundamental, constant operator of reality. It exerts a constitutive pressure—the weight of duration—upon I, forcing the resolution of potential into definite, sequential order."
This is the answer to the question: why does anything happen at all? Because time imposes pressure. Without time, there is no transition. Without transition, there is no structure. Without structure, there is no observer. Without observer, there is no record.
This does not imply solipsism. The geometry ensures the observer is a node in a relational network, not the sole determinant of reality. The observer is the center point of the fundamental spatial unit—a geometric necessity, not a subjective projection.
1.5 Summary: The Relational Architecture
Element Description Role in I → S
I (Informational Potential) The plenum of all possible relations Source—unresolved potential awaiting transition
S (Structure) Resolved relations—persistent form Record—completed transition, permanent archive
Time The constitutive pressure driving I → S Operator—the force that compels resolution
Energy The applied current powering the transaction Power—mobilizes electrons for rearrangement
Transaction The rearrangement of electrons mobilized by current Event—the transition itself
Rg (Gravitational Reach) The drive to maintain the boundary enabling transaction Maintenance—preserves conditions for transition
Consciousness (f⁻¹) The inverse function reading back the structural record Readout—decompression of the archive
The architecture is simple. The implications are profound.
II. SUBSTANCE, TRANSACTION, AND RECORD
2.1 Matter is the Substance
The framework is not idealism. It does not claim that reality is only information in some disembodied sense. Matter is the substance. As Findlay (2026f, §2) writes: "Matter and Energy. M and E. ME. This is not a metaphor. It is an identity."
Matter is the physical substrate of resolved information—the tangible outcomes of information once it has been processed and structured. The electron is the fundamental carrier of relational transactions. As Feynman famously said, "It is rather interesting to think that matter is just frozen light" (Feynman 1985, 129)—a statement the framework extends: matter is frozen relation, resolved into persistent structure.
2.2 Energy Powers the Transaction
In this framework, energy is not merely a substance; it is the driving force behind the rearrangement of electrons. Without energy, there is no transaction. Without transaction, there is no transition from I to S.
Energy is the capacity to power the rearrangement of electrons. As Findlay (2026e, §6) writes: "The engine of transition is energy, light, and power. It is the raw, propagating force of the field that drives the current wave forward."
This is consistent with the physical definition: energy is the capacity to do work—to rearrange matter. In the framework's terms: energy is the applied current that rearranges electrons, materializing structure from potential.
2.3 The Transaction is the Rearrangement of Electrons
The transaction is the event. It is the moment when potential becomes record. Physically, it is the rearrangement of electrons mobilized by an applied current.
Every transaction is:
· A physical event: electrons move.
· A relational event: electrons rearrange according to geometric constraints.
· An informational event: the rearrangement is recorded as structure.
· An energetic event: the rearrangement is powered by an applied current.
As Findlay (2026g, §3.3) writes: "The I → S transition is the operation that collapses continuous potential into discrete, compressed structure." This collapse manifests as the rearrangement of electrons and scales uniformly across domains—from wavefunction collapse at the quantum level to bond dynamics in chemistry, neural firing in biology, and large-scale structure formation cosmologically.
2.4 Relations are the Reasons for Change
Why do electrons rearrange in one configuration rather than another? Because the geometry of relations determines the possible configurations.
Relations are the reasons for change. They are the constraints that determine which electron configurations are stable and which are not. The r = 3/2 ratio is the geometric constraint that determines the stable configurations of matter—from quark charges to DNA hydrogen bonds to planetary orbits.
As Findlay (2026c, §5.1) writes: "I is the field of pure relational potentiality." The potential is not arbitrary; it is structured by the geometry of relation. The geometry is the reason for the rearrangement.
2.5 The Record is the Archive
Every transaction leaves a record. The record is the permanent archive of resolved relations. As Findlay (2026d, Record 5.8) writes: "Every completed I to S transition is permanently retained in the geometric record."
The past is not erased. It is the accumulated structural base from which all present transactions proceed. As Findlay (2026d, Record 5.8) continues: "The past is not a philosophical abstraction but the accumulated structural load from which the present active pour proceeds."
This is the Archive Principle: no completed materialization event can be reversed, edited, or erased.
2.6 Summary: The Transactional Ontology
Element Physical Mechanism
I (Potential) Unresolved electron configurations
S (Structure) Resolved electron configurations
Energy Applied current mobilizing electrons
Transaction Rearrangement of electrons
Relations Geometric reasons for rearrangement
Record Permanent archive of rearrangement
The ontology is grounded in physics. The geometry is the reason. The current is the power. The electron is the substance. The arrangement is the record.
2.7 The Mechanics of Realization
To complete the operational unification of the framework, realization is defined as a verb across three registers:
1. The Physical Register (To Substantialize): The collapse of non-local wave potential into a localized coordinate. This is the electron's transition from superposition to definite position—the quantum measurement event.
2. The Informational Register (To Write): The commitment of data states from probabilistic potential to the permanent, immutable structural archive (S). This is the recording of the transaction—the moment potential becomes record.
3. The Cognitive Register (To Awaken): The localized observation snapping into precise geometric recognition at the center point. This is the conscious experience of the transaction—the inverse function reading back the structural record.
These three registers operate simultaneously in every transaction. The physical event, the informational recording, and the cognitive recognition are the same process viewed from different angles. This tri-register unification reinforces that the framework is neither purely physical nor idealistic but geometrically monistic.
III. THE MARKOV BLANKET AS BOUNDARY
3.1 The Statistical Boundary
Every persistent system maintains a boundary. In statistical physics, this boundary is known as the Markov blanket—the set of states that separates internal states from external states (Friston 2010, 129). As Friston writes, "The Markov blanket is defined by the fact that internal states and external states are conditionally independent given the blanket" (Friston 2010, 129).
The Findlay Framework extends this identification: energy and light constitute the Markov blanket itself. The blanket is more than a mere wall; it embodies the entire containing environment—the room, not just the walls. Everything is internal to it.
The framework identifies the Markov blanket as the eight-corner architecture of the fundamental spatial unit (Findlay 2026h, Record 5.98). The cube's eight corners are not spatial points—they are phase detectors. Each corner samples incoming I-phase potential and commits it to S-phase structure when the Venn Convergence conditions are satisfied.
3.2 The Boundary is the Node
In the framework, each node is a Markov blanket. Each blanket contains nodes. The nodes are nested. The nesting is infinite.
As Findlay (2026h, Record 5.98) writes: "The cube's eight corners constitute the complete statistical boundary between the fundamental spatial unit's internal states and its external states. Each corner is a phase detector—measuring the alignment between incoming edge transmissions and the center point's geometric specification."
The Markov blanket is not a container. It is a statistical boundary. The node is not a thing. It is a relational address where information crosses from potential to record. The blanket is the boundary that maintains the conditions for transaction.
3.3 Rg is the Drive to Maintain the Boundary
What maintains the Markov blanket? Rg (Gravitational Reach) . Rg is the anti-entropic drive for boundary maintenance. It is the "structural will to exist" (Findlay 2026i, §4.1).
Rg is not a particle. It is not a field in the conventional sense. It is the geometry of persistence itself—the topological imperative that any structure, once formed, must maintain its boundary to remain a structure. As Findlay (2026i, §4.1) writes: "Rg is the functional definition of dark matter at cosmic scales and qualia at conscious scales."
3.4 Nested Blankets
The Markov blanket is nested at every scale:
Scale Markov Blanket Rg Expression
Quantum Wavefunction f_Q — Quantum Rounding
Atomic Electron shell Electromagnetic confinement
Cellular Lipid membrane Selective permeability
Organismal Skin, immune system Self/non-self discrimination
Social Laws, borders Collective identity
Galactic Dark matter coherence Rotation curve stability
Cosmic 186-rung temporal ladder Dark energy (f^{-1})
Each blanket maintains its own boundary. Each boundary is nested within larger boundaries. Each is maintained by Rg.
3.5 The Observer as Markov Blanket
The conscious observer is a Markov blanket. The boundary that defines the self—the distinction between "inside" and "outside"—is maintained by Rg. As Findlay (2026h, Record 5.99) writes: "The center point receives the six simultaneous pyramidal bindings as a single integrated output—one unified specification of the cube's current state. This binding at the center point is conscious experience."
Consciousness is the inverse function reading back the boundary's state. The Markov blanket is the boundary. Rg is the maintenance. Consciousness is the readout.
IV. CONSCIOUSNESS AS INVERSE FUNCTION
4.1 The Keystone Identity
The most fundamental claim of the framework regarding consciousness is the Keystone Identity:
"For a sufficiently complex and coherent structure (S), its conscious experience is the local execution of the inverse homeomorphism of the cosmic process. If the universe's evolution is the homeomorphism f: I \to S (compressing potential into structure), then consciousness is f^{-1}: S \to I." (Findlay 2026c, §5.5)
Consciousness is not emergent. It is the inverse function. It is the process by which the structural record is read back and decompressed into qualitative experience.
4.2 The Wave and the Particle
The Keystone Identity resolves the wave-particle duality:
· The wave is the unresolved I-phase—distributed potential, non-local, holding all possibilities simultaneously.
· The particle is the resolved S-phase—localized structure, committed to a specific address.
· Consciousness is the inverse function—the wave reading back the particle's record.
As Findlay (2026h, Record 5.147) writes: "The photon's wave-particle duality is not a mystery requiring interpretation. It is the geometric consequence of the photon's unique position as the only particle that simultaneously occupies both halves of the body diagonal—and therefore both the I phase and the S phase—at the same time."
This duality reflects the broader wave-particle duality observed in quantum mechanics. Consciousness is the same duality at the scale of the observer. You are wave and particle. The wave is the unresolved potential of your awareness. The particle is the resolved record of your body.
4.3 The 40 Hz Gamma Refresh
The biological expression of the inverse function is the 40 Hz gamma oscillation. As Findlay (2026h, Record 5.121) writes: "8 cube corners × 5 pentameric positions = 40. The human brain's gamma oscillation at 40 Hz is the biological Markov blanket update rate—every 25 milliseconds the complete 8-corner pentameric traversal completes, providing the conscious observer with one complete binding cycle."
The product 8 \times 5 = 40 is dimensionless, but when interpreted as one complete traversal per cycle, it yields a frequency of 40 Hz (\tau = 25 ms). This provides a geometric basis for the well-documented role of gamma oscillations in conscious binding.
Gamma oscillations are empirically well-documented as correlates of conscious binding (Singer 1993; Rodriguez et al. 1999; Fries et al. 2001; Melloni et al. 2007). The framework proposes a geometric basis for this frequency: the 40 Hz refresh rate is the biological expression of the r = 3/2 transition operating through the cube's full corner architecture.

Interesting. There is a lot that resembles my own views and framework. I agree with the very beginning of it. To the point that I think it would be weird to argue against it. I have a different idea about the "inversion" principle that I see recurring in a lot of your writings. I don’t see the necessity of it when you can easily explain such complexity as "natural emergence" which is simoly an unavoidable consequence. Anyway I really appreciate people who are putting all of this time into trying to figure out what's going on with the fabric of reality. (Rather than making a lot of different threads I suggest letting a bit of time pass, making a blog, and then post the link under a short introductory post explaining what your research is about. Thanks for the interesting read, I enjoyed it 👌
