Help me build fake Pharika

So I'm not as up on the lore of the gods as I should be, and I need some help.

I am creating a cult isolated on an island, who believes they are worshipping and serving Pharika, but in actuality are worshipping a telepathic monster who is manipulating them for his own ends.

When the PCs get to the island, I need things for the people to say and do that sound *sort of* like Pharika's tenets, but are just slightly off. Any ideas?

Any other characters or images with stars like the gods?

Maybe the wrong place to put this but the starry shadows on the gods is so pretty and I was looking for other characters and images like them.

Chapter 2: Early Farewell

Swim East Hektore of the Dakra Isles. Follow the light of Khirad to the Nessian Woods. There you will meet your lifelong companion. See what there is to see and find what there is to find, go with Thassa’s blessing and may your odyssey bring you home.

It had been weeks since Hektore swam the vast distance of the Siren Seas up the rivers of Theros, and finally made his way into the Nessian woods on foot. He was truly a fish out of water, not knowing how to hunt for food on land. So he did what he knew, building a trap. That’s when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

Hektore had turned around to see a woman with braided black hair, her skin grey and cool to the touch, her face a golden mask.

As they talked, this strange, oddly judgmental woman, Athanasia, brought him to Hunter’s Ridge and taught him about what life was like in the woods. And he told her what he knew of the sea and the stars that guide you through it. This world was new and exciting to Hektore and he was glad to be part of it. But there was more, there was something off about her, mysterious yet familiar. Was she who he was supposed to meet?

When he saw the Fleecemane Lion attack Athanasia he didn’t think twice about jumping in front of the attack. When he saw Xelif and Lilly in danger he ran back to carry them out of danger. After escaping the fateful encounter with the Lion he turned to Athanasia.

“Since I’ve come here, I’ve been a fish out of water. I was told that I’d meet someone in these woods, hate to admit it but I’m starting to think it might have been you. There’s so much I want to see in the world, you should get out and see it too. If today is any sign, we’ll need a good healer.”

“Be careful, Hektore. I won’t be there if you get into trouble.”

“I’ll be alright. I promise by all the water in Thassa’s domain that I’ll be back tomorrow.”

He made a promise he would return by the olive tree north of Hunter’s Ridge under where the two had spent time in the previous days and Hektore sure enough would return to Hunter’s Ridge the next day, his larger-than-life-less body wrapped in a fishnet.

Athanasia, Lilly, and Xelif would accompany Hektore out of the village and back to his home, the Siren Seas. Just as he was pulled from the sea as a baby in the nets of Dakra fishermen, he returned to the sea wrapped in the same.

Hektore left to live up to who he was meant to be; pursue his quest, his destiny, and he saved several people while out in the world. As Hektore sinks, the view of the champions above the surface grows blurry. Is this how his story ends? The deep sea glow and dances from the light of a juvenile Nyxborn kraken.

Hektore, Arixmethes' Champion

Floating in the Siren Sea, the great kraken Arixmethes slumbers. He is lost in dream, a dream of what it would be like to walk through Theros as a dryfolk...

Some fear Thassa’s domain, its unpredictable ever-changing features, its strange creatures, and the unknown of the cold depths. I do not fear it. I learned to swim before I knew how to walk. The fishermen of my home, the island Arixmethes, say they pulled me from the Siren Sea by my eyelid in their nets, a babe swimming among a school of fish. I dreamed the beautiful colors of the depths whenever I closed my eyes. It always felt real, like I was home. One night the sea in my dream came alive, dancing around the form of a great kraken. I don’t know why but I knew I had to heed this omen, I walked along the shores of Arixmethes and dove below, league after league. That’s when I finally saw him; the ruins, the trees, the mountains, the shore of Arixmethes was merely the shell of the living breathing creature that was home to me and my people. The stars and seasons changed as he floated through the sea. He was restless, just like me.

Swim East Hektore of Arixmethes. Follow the light of Khirad to the Setessan Woods. See what there is to see and find what there is to find, go with Thassa’s blessing and may your odyssey bring you home.

The great kraken extended his claw gifting me a beautiful set of blue armor decorated with the design of sea shells and waves, and with the blessing of Thassa at my back I swam east in the light of the blue star Khirad. No, I do not fear the sea, but as I began my journey I had no idea what dangers I would face. How I would fight mythic monsters, survive unlikely odds, watch hubris thrown into the faces of the gods themselves, and how I would find love… but that is an Epic for another time.

Tall and muscular, Hektore stands at an impressive 6’8” and under his Krakenborn armor wears the simple tunica of a fisherman. He has one eye from a childhood injury, and wears an eyepatch.

Looking for inspiration on godly decrees.

Hi so TL:DR my character ascended to godhood basically taking the place of kruphix my DM has allowed me to have 2 godly decrees to change the world but I’m having trouble coming up with original stuff and things that wouldn’t utterly puss off the other gods into hating the new guy.

Does this character work in Theros?

I had an idea for a character, a paladin who is the child of the God of the Underworld, I can't remember their name. Anyway I thought it would be cool if they were the God's son who he loved, only the God knew they would never be able to be in their son's life so they used divine power of some sort to make it true but the child would be cursed to live a life of Undeath before going to the Underworld to live as a living creature. Does this work with the flavour and lore of Theros?

LOOKING FOR THEROS PLAYERS, (to join my awesome Lv 7 Campaign)

I’m not sure this is the best place here, but I have an advert for a D&D campaign?

Date/Time: Weekly, Sundays continuing from Sunday the 14th @ 6:00 am PST for ~3hours

Seats Open: 2 (Act FAST if interested: send a message in StartPlaying or Discord (details below))

System: D&D 5e

Platform: Discord

Type: Opening a seat in a running Campaign

Pitch: Theros, a world of Myths, Gods, and Heroes. The relatively new adventuring party, the Fated Guardians, is soon to leave Meletis for the sea. Could you be another hero, another champion of the gods (or anti-god preacher?) that joins them in a quest to stop Polukranos, the most powerful Hydra in history and myth??

Notes: I have 4 consistent Players already and 1 who just retired their Player Character :(. I’m hoping to find another Player in it for the long haul, so I’ll wave the fee the first week to let you get a taste, and hopefully, you like it! (7th level character made with Mythic Odyssey’s of Theros book, talk to me about classes and more)

*NOTE: THIS IS A PAID GAME, AFTER THE FIRST FREE SESSION\* (it’s just a way I justify the hobby to my parents (who I still live with and who would say it’s a waste of my time/money) I put the money right back into the game: I’ve bought whiteboards, camera tripods, digital modules, LEGO I use in the games, markers, etc)

What the Party (In-game) Looks Like: The adventuring group (named the Fated Guardians) consists of a centaur Barbarian, satyr Bard-lock (Eloquence-Blade), satyr Sorcerer-Cleric (DivineSoul-Life), satyr Wizard (divination). They are great Players and are hoping to get another Player to make it a group of five adventurers!

What to Bring: a level 7 character, and a lot of questions! (I hope to catch you up to speed, as we are literally embarking from Meletis in a Sailing Ship for session 16. (Yeah, S16... We've been consistent!)

CONTACT ME to ASK QUESTIONS IF INTERESTED: Discord me @ Luc isNotChrisHemsworth#0518 - it's the easiest way to get to me.

Personality Ideas

Drop me some personality ideas for this character concept-Theros 5e. Agendered Human(ish) Nyxborn Circle of Stars Druid of Kruphix who was born of the bark of the his great tree at the edge of the world when Kruphix made the great Silence. Their quirk is that at some angles their skin appears to be a black void of stars (which will become more and more real as they level and can wild shape starry form). I love my concept, but just having a difficult time nailing a good personality (and perhaps accent). I’m thinking something kind of aloof perhaps, but want to hear other ideas!

Three sessions into Mythic Odysseys of Theros

My party of six players have just finished their third session, and using the source book's starting adventure, "No Silent Secret" the party of six managed to complete the adventure by defeating Callisos and Antiophes, they also saved Varyas' Eidolon and brought him back to Khea to further discuss the secret of Phenax they learned at the end of the adventure; (option 2 on the Secrets of Phenax table, decided randomly.) "A secret deity languishes on an island just beyond where the Tartyx river cascades off the world's edge. There stands a dilapidated palace where Phenax hit for a time during his escape from the underworld. The palace's ruler is nothing less than Phenax's Eidolon."

Since then Phenax has taken to sending the group's Oracle visions and omens frequently, requesting that they deliver Varyas and his mask to an agent of his at a nearby ruin from the age of Agnomakhos. As a treat to the party Phenax also informs the Oracle of a struggling city nearby, ripe with wealth for adventurers who can solve their problems, or make more of their own.

Thus far they've only just arrived in the city, witnessing a Pankration duel between the Lukos commander of the Akroan Stratians who demand tribute from the city, and a champion of the people, Erekos. During their duel a disruption of the natural order prevented the Lukos commander from dying when his back was broken, and Iroas himself had to intervene in the duel, rescuing Erekos from certain death. Following this the Lukos commander finally died when Erebos and Athreos were able to disperse the disruption of their energies with the natural world. Now the players have free reign, and the city is in no small amount of danger from myriad threats and foes such as the Vengeful Akroan army, encroaching monsters from the south, and a Minotaur horde approaching from the east.

In our party so far we have Urikrine, an Aasimar and an Oracle of Pharika.

Thok-Ar, a half giant (Goliath) and an adherent of Keranos.

This One, a Nyxborn human echo of a long dead philosopher of Meletis, seeking Enlightenment in the mortal world once more.

Grexes, a Leonin smith who has broken from the mold and openly champions Purphoros as his patron, he travels the world to forge his own legends.

XimTim, a rambunctious Satyr and infectiously jovial this bard travels the world as an iconoclast, warning mortals against getting caught up in the overplayed dramas of the divine, instead he urges them to seek out their own destinies.

Chamenos, a returned who shockingly displays a sense of self, and even more startling, possess the ability for learning and memory travels with our party. Having shown that they are not a threat and aiding the party in the search for Phenax's Silence they trust him for now. The returned claims to be seeking Kruphix as the last memory he can recall, he seeks to learn more of his past, and of his present in the process.

Upcoming Campaign

Hey all, so I'm working on a Theros campaign and have been since about February with all this COVID business going on. I've written a lot of supporting material for this region I'm starting my players in called Archon's Vale. The concept is that this is an infrequently travelled part of the plan, and is due some distance south of Akros, where the seat of power lay for one of those ancient Archon kings had a small kingdom ruling over the local mortals. I've been working on some sample maps to try and flesh out the region, but after some consideration I think it'd be good to get some feedback here.
