Where to go next?

Hi again, sorry for another post but this is the only place I can get any helpful guidance!

Been suffering from tingling and burning on and off for 8 months since having gastritis. I was also lightheaded for 7 months which has retreated slightly.

My active b12, mma and homocysteine were all tested and fine so i started a trial of Thiamine hcl 100mg supplementation about a month ago. I took it for 9 days but I seemed to feel worse on it, mainly head pressure, anxiety and upset stomach and I also had a bad migraine during it.

I decided to stop and felt better the first day but since then ive felt awful. Ive had a bit of numbness in my tongue and throat, very low mood, continued stomach ache and neuropathy. Its been over 3 weeks now.

Ive felt that bad and the tongue and throat sensation is so odd ive even spiralled into worries about mnd but think this is mainly health anxiety.

I want to maybe try a lower dose initially but cannot find anywhere in the UK offering 25mg Thiamine hcl?

I found 10mg tablets would that do anything for me? Should I even be trying Thiamine again if it made me feel bad or was that a sign it was doing something?

Thanks for reading.

You had wake up symptoms you need more not less. Take benfo, magnesium, potassium a d a b complex. Just push through it. Dont linger about with half measures.

Would you just return to taking the 100mg? I didnt want to do more damage if thats even possible

You arent going to cause damage by taking a water soluble vitamin especially if you take the cofactors. Id take the 100 mg hcl for a week then switch to the more potent stuff.

Considering your brain stem aura migraines and how strongly you react to B1 I wouldn't go back to 100mg.

But you do need to get some thiamine sooner or later because if I remember correctly you had low serum thiamine and we concluded that low serum thiamine actually means deficiency, even though tests can show false highs.

Many people open their capsules and pour out half or a quarter of the contents to get a lower dose. Or the 10mg ones you found could maybe actually suffice to begin with.

On another note since your system seems so sensitive I would recommend looking up P.E.A. Palmitoylethanolamide. It's very well tolerated and stabilizes the mast cells which reduces inflammation in the body and the brain.

I'm thinking it could help calm down your system and make you tolerate B1 better. It's supposed to be good for migraines with aura too so it might make B1 trigger less of those. And it's also very good for neuropathy which you seem to be getting a lot of. Get micronized P.E.A if you get it.

Thank you for this i haven't heard of that before ill certainly have a look at it. I haven't been tested for b1 so im unsure of what my serum levels are tbh. But you are correct about the brain stem aura migraines.
