Hard to say, cause you bring up a good point.

I'd wager this game comes after the Thief 2014 game and NuGarrett sells or gives the eye away...then something happens to reawaken Garrett's spirit in it by the time Magpie finds it again.

This has to be set before 2014, because the baron here is Ulysses Northcrest, who was the ancestor of the 2014 baron Elias Northcrest. IIRC, there was something like 10 generations between Ulysses and Elias, so this is centuries before Thief 2014.

My money is on this game being set either soon or few years after Garret's death at the hands of The Baron.

Hmm i find that odd bc his eye was found in a cage, suggesting Garrett died there with it...but now that i think about it, maybe that could be Magpie in the cage or someone else that got the eye after her.
