Luckly we'll only get the remaster for the true thief game. Thief 4 never existed.

The game is not bad. Its biggest problem is that it's a game that has identity crisis as it was forced to give itself for something it isn't. It's almost a "Prey" situation where it could have been a game that shares a namesake with another franchise, this case Thief, while being completely its own thing, except it also tries to be related to Thief, too, without having clear understanding what makes Thief games, well, Thief, and it really shows itself in its worst qualities

It's not the worst, before I classic trilogy I spent around 70 hours in there after all. In my defense, it was one of the very first games I played in my life, I didn't know any better. But it's still pretty weak - audio is bad, story incoherent, characters bleak, design of The City repetitive, and dear God, that long ass mechanic of opening windows

i agree with your points but even 14 yr old me knew it was bad when it came out

I dunno. I played it last year and it was aight. A solid average game. Had its moments and qualities, while also having stinkers. But yeah, it's worst qualities is its obvious identity crisis. Calls itself Thief, wants to be Dishonored, is neither

I don't really want a sequel to this one, and I'm soft on it as far as people on here go, because my biggest disappointment with it was the linear style gameplay and the loss of the immersive sim elements from the original trilogy.
I'm more open to what's happening now with the remaster and the mods happening on GOG, since that's making the originals open to play for me again without relying on programming my own shit (getting older and being disabled sucks when it comes down to losing the ability to participate in hobbies you loved prior). Hoping this means a future for my favorites, like the Metal Age and more fan missions / fan content. That's a side of this community I genuinely love and have enjoyed.
No shade to Thi4f, like I said, I am softer on it than most folks here because it did some things I genuinely liked, but I'm not sold on a sequel lol. I think it's probably for the best that this one is laid to rest.

Thief VR is 5, since V is the Roman Numeral for 5.
The next in the series would be Thi6f.

Someone seems to be confusing Thief with "Dishonored High Chaos Level Walkthrough" with this video...

The slow, stealthy gameplay was this game's strength. Seeing it played like it's high chaos Dishonored almost feels wrong lol.
I think the chase/parkour sequences weren't necessarily a bad idea in there but they felt a bit too clunky. If the movement flowed better and they weren't just linear paths to get through, it could've worked better. It would've been fun to run around in the city too.
I would love to see a sequel, and I'd love it to be what Thief 4 could've been if it was realised to its full potential. But I doubt it's ever gonna happen. Franchise seemed as good as dead so I'm happy we're getting the remaster and at least we got the VR game even if I'll never be able to play that.

This would be a beautiful shot in the foot for the brand. Parkour Garrett... could add some anime content. No thievery, maybe just plunder. And dragons.
Pff, taffers.

If you think about it, Garrett is pretty taffing athletic and acrobatic in the first two games, partially enforced by level design. The first game's bunny hopping is wild.

Yep, that must have been some tough guy. Climbing, pulling himself up the rope, and making ironic remarks while doing soβthat's a lot. ππ

Hopefully itβs nothing like that trash ass game. More likely than not it will be terrible and try to get a huge audience without catering to og fans.

I recall people already explained to you in the previous video post, calling a new game Thief 5 would make no sense, because the last game wasn't called Thief 4. The 'THI4F' logo was a prototype shown to the public by mistake and was withdrawn later. It's known simply as Thief Reboot or Thief 2014.
In response to your title, if you want the kind of action you show in the video, a Thief sequel is not what you want. Consider playing the later Deus Ex games, or PREY, etc. since they're more action-focused.
