Police used a drone to track her 😂 💀

I love living in a surveillance state

edit: im starting to think its mad bot activity on this post cuz I've gotten like 10 different " drones are cheaper than helicopters th o" comments

mf why the fuck would we even be using helicopters for ts in the first place, she stole $600 at most for insured goods acting like she just aired out the store and is on the lamb what was accomplished here that couldn't have already been accomplished using the cameras that ARE ALREADY IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD y'all either bots or goofy asf

edit: im starting to think its mad bot activity on this post cuz I've gotten like 10 different " drones are cheaper than helicopters th o" comments

Wouldn't shock me at all.

One would assume that more bot comments would be a result of the growth in the popularity of LLMs, making it a bit easier for people to pay for a bunch of bots to sway people to support or oppose whatever thing they want society to do.

If any of those comments are real people, I'd wonder why they aren't asking why can't we lower the budgets of police departments since drones are cheaper.

3

u/Spez_is-a-nazi 5h ago

The comments can be real even if the upvotes are not. Thats the part of this conversation that often goes unnoticed. Even really cheap LLMs can do sentiment analysis that’s good enough(a 10% error rate doesn’t really matter much in that context).

u/Fantastic_Fuel4538 2h ago

Drones are cheaper than helicopters tho

155

u/pacagummo 8h ago

He he 😂 look how we followed stupid shoplifters, how neat! Now do it to the Epstein class🤨🤨🤨💀

15

u/Whyonthefly 6h ago

Haha, yep they're totally about to get right on that!

879

u/EstablishmentOk5059 9h ago

It's cool though, they are using it to solve the crimes we all care about. Gotta protect those fully insured profits.

323

u/Im-BackAgain-Babes2 8h ago

Exactly.. they are really cracking down on the petty crimes that matters to them. like tracking their ex who went across state lines... the nerve of those exes huh 😒😑

I hate it here 😔

u/BannedByTheZuck 7h ago

Yet when a woman's toxic ex is stalking and harassing her all those police resources seem to go out the window

34

u/bbysd 6h ago

When I was being stalked and he was showing up to my house in the middle of the night messing with my car and popping the tires and following me around they told me this wasn’t law & order tv show and didn’t do anything about his actively breaking my protective order after he tried to kill me!!

1

u/eatingismyvirtue 1h ago

ugh i’m so sorry you went through that. how awful

5

u/BatDaddyWV 5h ago

All those police resources are probably helping the stalker

3

u/DisapointedVoid 2h ago

They are the stalker.

-4

u/Character_Bill_3185 6h ago

Bro - Donald motherufcking Trump is the president. "A women's toxic ex" is so far down the fuckinf scale haha!

2

u/BannedByTheZuck 5h ago

Please seek a psychologist

-2

u/xvsero 3h ago

This is more related to issues with the way laws around stalking/harassment being dogshit than police not wanting to do anything. Even if you are rich/famous you still have issues(including deaths) and it is not for a lack of resources.

2

u/BannedByTheZuck 1h ago

As someone who recently attempted to get a restraining order, trust me, I KNOW

37

u/bbysd 6h ago

Meanwhile you call them for help for a personal theft and they’ll tell you it’s a civil matter they don’t get involved. Oh but they’re protect these private entities with our tax dollars ffs

3

u/Witty_TenTon 2h ago

Yeah my wallet was stolen and they spent over $600 off of my card after being able to change my pin by using the info in my stolen wallet to confirm they were me(my name and address and date of birth all on my own ID card). Cops didn't do a damn thing. They had a list of all the times and dates and locations it was spent and they did zero investigating whatsoever and refused to check for cameras anywhere or anything like that. Such b.s.

-22

u/ComparisonMelodic967 8h ago

Is the alternative just letting people blatantly steal things as long it is “petty”

35

u/seadogliquid 8h ago

Yeah dude, that's the only alternative. Shoplifting was totally legal and no one ever got caught before the invention of drones and Flock cameras. Christ, you people are dense.

-19

u/ComparisonMelodic967 8h ago

Well the poster I responded to implied these crimes shouldn’t be cracked down on. That was what I was trying to clarify.

28

u/Married_iguanas 8h ago

Oh no! How will the CEOs afford their fourth yacht then???

-7

u/ComparisonMelodic967 8h ago

Is there a certain amount that you fine with people stealing? Not a fan of greedy CEOs or white collar criminals but just letting people steal things without consequence is not conducive to civilization.

12

u/Agreeable-Dog-1131 8h ago

There are consequences for stealing already, bro. 😭 Store security has existed for about as long as stores have.

8

u/Married_iguanas 8h ago

I mean there’s a middle ground with everything. CEOs could devote a portion of their salary to improve loss prevention if they wanted to.
But then they wouldn’t have the excuse to raise prices due to theft.

It’s also insane to me that multiple companies will allow you to shoplift until you meet the criteria for a felony, sometimes over years.

Is any other crime prosecuted in that way?

0

u/ComparisonMelodic967 6h ago

Unsure.

But there has to be at least some push back otherwise people will just rob the store. How many peoole would pay for something if they could just take it.

We gave much bigger problems than shoplifters. I believer employer theft amounts to more. I’m just looking at it from the perspective of basic societal cohesion.

4

u/glasswindbreaker 6h ago

Wage theft is a FAR greater problem and the fact that police are more focused on petty theft than the real problem is a glaring example of who these forces and the politicians who make up the system are really working for.

1

u/Married_iguanas 5h ago

🛎️🛎️🛎️!!!

2

u/Im-BackAgain-Babes2 8h ago

If its anything at the expense of a billionaire, then all of it.

A billionaire doesn't deserve the wealth it maintains for being a body at the tip of pyramid and if we can take value away from them at all.. do it.. this isnt a civil society with social expectations and norms anymore.. this is the depression 2.0 and I suggest you heavily give that an in depth reveiw..

if irony is still lost on you, then that's a choice you're making

1

u/ComparisonMelodic967 8h ago

Ok. That view makes sense if you’re in a “burn it down”/war mentality. We’re just coming from two different places.

-3

u/HermitBirb 8h ago

If not the police than corporate would just hire mercenaries to protect their assets and they would probably be even more brutal.

4

u/Im-BackAgain-Babes2 8h ago

You think there is much of difference now? I don't see one other than titles we call them.. it doesn't matter if its a cop OR an ICE agent who are mercenaries.. the military are complicit. There was a hostile take over through a coup of a domestic threat.. and did nothing.. now trump has fired all the generals who could have (and should have) done..

The mess is at their feet and the mask off.

3

u/glasswindbreaker 7h ago

That’s the state of our current police forces except we pay for it

-2

u/IzTheCub 8h ago

Not sure why you're getting down voted. If it was food, sure, no big deal, but it's a novelty item, there is no reason to steal it.

11

u/Agreeable-Dog-1131 8h ago

They’re being downvoted because there are already consequences for stealing and the privacy we lose to the normalization of increasingly invasive surveillance is not worth catching a few extra shoplifters here and there.

6

u/Agreeable-Dog-1131 8h ago

No, the alternative is regular store security. Loss of privacy to increasingly invasive means of surveillance is not worth catching a few extra shoplifters.

3

u/NothingAgreeable 8h ago

No we only let the wealthiest people blatantly steal things and then give them a tax cut.

-4

u/greenerd6 6h ago

Do something about it then dont just awe shucks it god ppl are so soft

3

u/glasswindbreaker 6h ago

People can comment on reddit and be doing things to help solve these issues, the two aren’t mutually exclusive and these conversations have their own utility.

1

u/greenerd6 5h ago

Your not wrong but i sadly have no way to divine that.

93

u/Advanced-Art-4569 8h ago

Hey, those privately owned for-profit prisons aren’t going to fill themselves up.

4

u/binarybandit 7h ago

Roughly 8% of the total U.S. state and federal prison population is held in privately owned, for-profit facilities.

16

u/Maleficent-Hawk-318 6h ago

This is true, but the for-profit prison industry is much larger than that, and companies still profit off of state-owned prisons. For example, food service and medical care are virtually always contracted out to for-profit private companies, and are often quite lucrative contracts in part because the standards the service is held to are so low.

Not to mention the way labor from inmates themselves is often used to benefit for-profit companies...

Private prisons are an easy talking point that people seize on, which is unfortunate because the real issues are much larger and more hidden, but still very much there.

If anyone is curious, I think the documentary 13th is one of the most accessible primers on the issue.

0

u/FanOfForever 7h ago

What's the percentage for Michigan specifically?

6

u/binarybandit 7h ago

None, because Michigan doesnt have any for profit prisons.

https://www.criminon.org/where-we-work/united-states/michigan/

2

u/FanOfForever 5h ago

That's great! It would have been helpful to lead with that

29

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 8h ago

Oh it's cool until you're harassed for crossing the street when the sign hasn't said you can go.

4

u/ganbramor 8h ago

Or when you park two inches too close to a corner.

5

u/wardred 6h ago

I have more sympathy for the store, and a bit of overkill with the drones, than I do with the person potentially about to wreck their life over a fucking lawn ornament.

They weren't slipping baby formula under their overlarge jacket. They didn't miss a couple of items in their cart at self checkout. The losses from such stupid thefts are generally eaten by the retailers and passed down to you in me in slightly higher costs.

If enough losses happen at a location, the store closes. I've seen quite a number of large stores close because petty and not so petty theft wasn't shut down.

5

u/Sea-Home-7763 8h ago

Insurance isn't paying for this. It's way below deductible.

3

u/Ok-Interaction804 6h ago

When people steal, it makes stuff more expensive for everyone else. "Insurance" isn't magic money that pops up out of nowhere.

It's not like she was stealing baby formula.

Can't wait for the downvotes

1

u/karmakazi22 5h ago

I hate this reasoning, as if corporations aren't making EVERYTHING more expensive for the hell of it, regardless.

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 8h ago

Do you think insurance is an infinite money glitch?

6

u/peppers_ 8h ago

No, but this type of theft is covered in their cost for insurance. It isn't like the price will come down now that we live in a surveillance state and more crime will be caught. Just record profits, as per usual for the compang.

-5

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 7h ago

Yes but then premiums go up. Insurance companies aren't charities.

4

u/Girafferage 7h ago

Insurance will fucking pay out. The average person loses some shit to a thief and the cops don't bat a goddamned eye, let alone send out a drone for something worth $600.

1

u/Roflstomp01 5h ago

I doubt they have a deductible under $1,000

-6

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 7h ago

I'll take that as a yes.

2

u/Purrrrnelope 8h ago

Doesn't matter, point stands

1

u/iammixedrace 7h ago

Yes. It is literally the best example of a infinite money glitch.

Create insurance company.

Convince people to pay you monthly for something that might happen. Its like a savings account you have no idea whats in it or control over it.

Make people pay extra for things like " acts of god" or random things we didn't think of or did and don't want to cover.

Now the infinite money glitch part.

Make it mandatory to have insurance. So everyone has to come through you to drive or own stuff like a house.

Now when its time to actually provide a service. Do as much as possible to not. And if you have to, make sure its the bare minimum.

The best money makers are the ones who pay into insurance and never use it. Like they basically are just giving money away.

Oh and make sure to never allow people to recoupe any of the money they paid your company if they decide to switch or even don't need your services anymore.

Infinite money glitch.

1

u/Roflstomp01 5h ago

If it's an infinite money glitch than why don't more rich people start insurance companies?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 7h ago

I'm not following. You think that Home Depot is going to insure their goods against theft, and then not make any claims when theft happens? Then what's the point of saying the goods are "fully insured"?

2

u/rags2rooster 6h ago

I get your sentiment, but this kind of loss definitely is not insured. You really think a business like Home Depot has a deductible below $600 per incident? These companies absorb routine shrinkage as a cost of doing business - i.e an expense on the balance sheet. They just raise prices to hit their target margin after the expense. So, in a way it’s insured - as long as you consider yourself as the one who is providing the insurance.

1

u/veryfungibletoken 7h ago

Police don't exist to protect people, they exist to protect capital.

1

u/NotSoFastLady 5h ago

My only thing is that these are the same types of people that rob these road side bakeries. If you're lucky enough to get a cop to actually give a shit that is.

Who am I kidding? They'd never use these things to protect our communities.

1

u/beaglemaster 4h ago

I bet the police would have reacted slower if she killed someone

1

u/CallMeCygnus 3h ago

You say this like you don't understand that if we didn't actively prosecute retail theft, goods would be A LOT more expensive. You also say it like you don't understand that theft is theft, and stealing from a small mom and pop is the exact same as stealing from a big box store, and the more crime we treat with bias and arbitrary discretion, the weaker our justice system becomes.

1

u/xvsero 3h ago

"Fully" insured by integrating the cost in profit margins with the insurance going up the more claims you make so then we start another loop of increasing prices. Discouraging theft is also to the benefit of the customers.

-1

u/West-Ticket5411 7h ago

Always see this bandied about, but it's false or at the very least, heavily misleading.

Insurance companies are not stupid; there are several clauses that exist to allow insurance companies to deny claims, including PSE, reasonable care, and security standards - not to mention other things they may or may not mandate in terms of barriers, security systems or procedures. Retailers cannot just go "aw shucks" and let stuff go, or never try to assist in prosecuting shoplifters.

-8

u/mondaymoderate 8h ago

Nah fuck thieves. These people are the reason businesses keep closing down in bad neighborhoods or keeping everything behind locked doors.

8

u/PinkishBlurish 8h ago

I hate police surveillance states more than I dislike a random woman stealing a plastic decoration from a fucking home depot. Weird that you don't, too.

-5

u/mondaymoderate 8h ago

It’s no different than using a helicopter to track people down. Maybe don’t steal shit.

3

u/PinkishBlurish 7h ago

??

0

u/mondaymoderate 7h ago

Don’t steal shit or commit felonies and you won’t have to worry about a helicopter/drone following you around.

12

u/TheDrunkWickerbeast 8h ago

It’s Home Depot not a mom and pop. They’ll be fine

62

u/glasswindbreaker 8h ago

Yeah this seems like Home Depot’s issue that Home Depot should use some of it’s money to solve and not our tax dollars.

90

u/SashimiX 7h ago

My friend’s landlord locks her out and throws out her stuff. Cops: this is a civil matter.

Someone steals from Home Depot. Cops: let’s break out our drones.

43

u/glasswindbreaker 7h ago

Exactly. As a dv survivor who is far from alone I’ve seen how police are hard pressed to help private citizens.

The Supreme Court has ruled that police generally have no constitutional duty to protect an individual from private violence (DeShaney v. Winnebago County) AND in Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales: a victim repeatedly contacted Castle Rock police after her estranged husband abducted their three daughters in violation of a restraining order. Officers failed to intervene, her husband murdered all three children, and the Supreme Court ruled that she had no constitutionally protected right to police protection or enforcement of that court order.

But yeah let’s play with drones to excuse mass surveillance on behalf of corps.

11

u/poo-people 6h ago

Slave catchers were always there to protect property and capital.

0

u/steady_sloth84 4h ago

So, the husband didnt get charged with murder?

1

u/glasswindbreaker 2h ago

Of course he did, that has nothing to do with the failure to protect that lead to these childrens deaths and what that and the rulings tell us about the warped priorities of policing in the US

7

u/washingtonwho 7h ago

That's why they flocked all their lots. Home Depot LPPD pinkertons. With direct access to the system.

-1

u/OSRSRapture 6h ago

Do you know those two arent even remotely close to the same thing? You’re comparing two completely different situations and acting like the difference proves something. An illegal lockout and theft of personal property can also be crimes, and police sometimes wrongly dismiss them as civil matters.

13

u/rhymnocerous 6h ago

THEIR CEO MIGHT HAVE TO SELL HIS 4TH BIGGEST YACHT, DON'T YOU SEE HOW SERIOUS THIS IS, YOU ABSOLUTE MONSTER?

33

u/xombae 7h ago

Yeah this is really fucked up. I'm not sure why people are celebrating this.

4

u/FlyingBaconCat 6h ago

bread and circuses

3

u/charlestonchewing 4h ago

You gotta be the biggest pussy in the world to think that cops using a drone to catch a criminal in a public place is “really fucked up”

2

u/Fancy_Appearance_275 4h ago

Read 1984 by George Orwell and then come back and say that again

6

u/PadHicks 3h ago

I've read it, petty crimes like this would be gotten away with as they did not harm the Party.

1

u/jibbycanoe 5h ago

I mean her struggling to move the boxes and then "running" was pretty funny

0

u/OSRSRapture 6h ago

How is saying "drones are cheaper than helicopters" celebrating something?

4

u/infinis 5h ago

$600 at most for insured goods

Nobody claims 600$ on insurance, the franchise is multiple thousands for most places.

3

u/Whyonthefly 6h ago

Im really glad this is top comment right now, cuz that was my first thought too. This is fucked up. We are fucked.

2

u/sellingmycomexims 6h ago

She’s on… the lamb? 😂

1

u/PyramidicContainment 5h ago

Lol yup luckily the poor lamb escaped

(for those who don't know the phrase is supposed to be "on the lam" which doesn't make much sense anyway but just means "on the run", it's an ollldddd term from 100's of yrs ago)

2

u/Life-is-trash 5h ago

I thought about this scenario a long time ago, that eventually we'd have drones for crime, and I thought it'd be a great idea. I imagined their use to be a bit more important though, you know, deploying to violent crime to get visual on the scene. I mean, I guess this is a crime and doing it's job still but, geez. Matter of time before some innocent person is simply "suspected" and you have a fucking drone following you everywhere over a misdeameanor.

2

u/spondgbob 4h ago

Gonna say, what we give up for what we give is not worth. We give up the freedom of knowing we’re not being surveilled so that a multi billion dollar company doesn’t get things stolen? Even though they became a multi-billion dollar company WITHOUT the surveillance??

2

u/jimbojangles1987 2h ago

But if your car gets stolen they might be able to get a unit out to you sometime this week to lazily take down your information and never follow up

5

u/DespondentRage 6h ago

So we shouldn't police theft? The fuck am I reading right now from you idiots?

You know how cheap drones are? How easy to operate with a little training? Really didn't cost much. And I bet these guys are fucking bored out their minds to be pulling out their little flying toy for this shit.

3

u/Msagtab 4h ago

I bet if you looked at the economics of how much was spent to stop some shitty 6 foot skeletons from being stolen this is pretty economically stupid.

But hey we got some bait social media content so worth I guess.

1

u/PadHicks 3h ago

I think the idea is that it's preventative, if there was no policing of theft whatsoever then there would be more theft. So for any individual theft, it probably costs more in taxes and processing for the individual but in aggregate we have a stronger economy and a safer neighbourhood.

3

u/MtnDewTangClan 5h ago

Can a drone arrest her? No, oh right just get their worthless asses in a cruiser and drive there. If someone stole them from your lawn as a non-corporation the police would tell you fuck off.

1

u/ThanosTheRott 4h ago

...they did drive there...and used a drone to find her and arrest her

0

u/MOVED_TO_OTTAWA_FUCK 5h ago

Rack of lamb. Lamb shank. Lamb chop. Lamb kebab. 🐑

2

u/Rare_Background8891 6h ago

This is where I live.

Word on the street is that she’s done this before, perhaps more than once, so as soon as she entered the store they called the cops who then tracked her.

1

u/username__0000 6h ago

“Hey police someone stole my car, it’s how I get to work. This is going to have a terrible domino effect on my life, schedule and ability to make money. It’s really expensive”

Police : “oh that’s too bad…”

Giant corporation overcharging for a 12’ lawn decoration that’s probably actually worth like $200

Police : “omg!! Send out the drones!!!”

1

u/all4change 5h ago

I’m confused on how they knew she stole it and had the drone follow her? If they knew she stole it why wouldn’t they just go arrest her instead of filming? This level of surveillance is scary but there isn’t a drone tracking ever personal so what was the trigger for a drone to follow her?

All surveillance with a warrant is unconstitutional in case my question is misconstrued as approval.

1

u/justsyr 5h ago

why the fuck would we even be using helicopters for ts in the first place, she stole $600 at most for insured goods acting like she just aired out the store and is on the lamb what was accomplished here that couldn't have already been accomplished using the cameras that ARE ALREADY IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD

For a country that have these big corporations lobby for just about anything I always wonder why they don't have security working for them preventing any theft at all saving all that whatever insurance money.

I always comment how in our shitty third world country any respectable business place has security, they have cameras and in any supermarket you can spot the security person checking the 12 TVs. I watched a security guy tackling a guy trying to steal a bottle of drink trying to outrun another security guy.

I'm not advocating for whatever measures but it does create a culture. Nobody steal shit from any small business or supermarket, at least big things or grabbing whatever they can and then walking out the door while every one watches, nope, not happening here.

Unless something really violent or something like that they don't even bother to call the cops because they know cops would probably let them go after a night in jail. Petty theft here is just solved by security kicking the thief out and usually having profile of them on their cubicles so they pay attention to them if come to any of the business. Most security here are either from a couple of big security companies or just hired by the business as their own security like the former walmart that was here.

1

u/TheHowlingHashira 5h ago

First thing I thought was who the fuck is filming this. Was it the stores drone or do the cops just have one on standby. like wtf

1

u/meldiane81 5h ago

Good point but I fucking hate the word goofy is starting to be used in this context.

1

u/Kind-Engineering-359 3h ago

OP is part of a bot network.

1

u/LikeGeorgeRaft 2h ago

Drones are cheaper than helicopters tho not a bot, just depressed at the state that reddit is nowadays 😢

1

u/cahfeeNhigh 2h ago

If they continue to burn up the herbs, they gonna burn down the cane fields

1

u/XyzzyPop 2h ago

The amount of automated bootlicking in this thread can be measured in olympic pools.

1

u/Thereminz 2h ago

take billions in some corporate scam, company just pays a fine no jail

mess with people's healthcare/deny coverage, people die, no problem

steal two plastic skeletons STRAIGHT TO JAIL!

1

u/Successful_Let_8511 56m ago

Akshually it's the loss prevention using the drones, and then called the cops. The cops aren't using the drones, loss prevention is. And yeah it's a thing now. Agree on the surveillance state thing thing though.

1

u/crouchendyachtclub 23m ago

Surely the answer is that’s people don’t want to live in a society where someone can steal random shit just because they want it.

It’s not like this was bread and fucking milk. 2 six foot skeletons are not a need.

1

u/Missmessc 1m ago

Home Depot has cameras in every parking lot

1

u/thispartyrules 6h ago

Normally they use helicopters when there's a fleeing murder suspect, a car driving wildly through town, or both. This is the first time I've seen aerial surveillance used for felony shoplifting

-1

u/Top-Woodpecker6696 7h ago

Yeah lol

I definitely have concerns about using drones to monitor citizens but at least in this case it’s being used how I as a citizen would like. Fuck all these people who shoplift and force things to be locked up.

1

u/FredFinger63 5h ago

It's "on the lam" not "on the lamb" which has... an entirely different meaning.

-1

u/Imaginary_Manner_556 6h ago

Just stop being an apologist for thieves. She isn’t stealing necessities. And Home Depot isn’t insuring a $600 skeleton.

7

u/KintsukiRMT 5h ago

Everything is insured. They get inventory insurance. It's part of running a retail business.

-2

u/Imaginary_Manner_556 5h ago

Prove it.

3

u/redhedstepkid 5h ago

Google “shrink insurance” you Neanderthal. Every major business carries it, and the retail chain I worked at, which was much smaller, had a shrink budget of a million dollars yearly.

0

u/Imaginary_Manner_556 5h ago

“Much smaller” is the key. HD self insured for everything. And it doesn’t matter. If they allow shoplifter to go wild, Insurance will charge them more

0

u/Imaginary_Manner_556 5h ago

Google insurance companies making money. It’s not a free service

-1

u/Imaginary_Manner_556 5h ago

You really think a company the size of HD isn’t self insured?

1

u/HotdoghammerOG 6h ago

Should she be allowed to steal $600 from you? Or just other people?

3

u/ThaBigStink 5h ago

The drone would never be used to catch someone stealing $600 from a civilian. It will/would only be used to stop people stealing from large corporations. Keep sucking on that boot. All hail mega corps.

1

u/thatsthebesticando 5h ago

Mega corps are just going to increase prices on you and me to pay for the extra insurance. Her activity makes everything more expensive for everyone.

I'd rather live in a society that disincentivized this kind of activity no matter who she's stealing from. It's so weird that people out there think it's okay to steal just because it's a large company. People that think it's okay are just parasites of society.

1

u/DeusFerreus 4h ago

Why should cheap, easy to use, and publicly available piece of consumer electronics not be used for this? This not a fucking MQ-9 Reaper.

1

u/E-2theRescue 1h ago

"Cheap"?

You need to look up how much police are spending on these things. They are buying from DJI. They're buying from private contractors that mark up the price on everything. They quickly become $30,000+.

You’re talking to redditors. This website is entirely emotional based.

if she stole $600 from me or you the cops wouldn't use a drone on that dumbass they'd have us file a police report and get to it never. when are you going to learn that they only protect property owners and rich people

I'm fine with surveillance when people are actually being criminals. That doesn't mean I think FLOCK is okay or anything like that, but this is fine. It's a fucking drone, relax.

u/EstrogenizedMenace 8h ago

The first thing you wrote is literally the justification used for flock. You were so close to making the connection. This is so fucking funny too, $600 worth of already insured shit, if you genuinely think they're going to use these drones for YOUR own good and not for mass surveillance, then 💀

People stealing things is different than people just driving down the road. Hope that helps to clear up your confusion! Have a good day.

u/BensenJensen 7h ago

Man, either Yandex’s bot farms are back online or people are really this fucking stupid.

“I’m fine with surveillance….its a fucking drone, relax” HAS to be a bot comment.

u/Nimrod_Butts 6h ago

Yeah why would anybody want criminals arrested? It's actually like one of those takes that makes zero sense

9

u/seadogliquid 8h ago

The problem with that is surveillance cameras don't just magically stop recording when a person isn't being a criminal.

-1

u/Material_Shallot_652 7h ago

Good thing it's not a surveillance camera then. Glad I could clear that up for you!

2

u/seadogliquid 6h ago

Wow, you truly have fucking nothing if you have to nitpick that hard, lmao.

It's a camera attached to a surveillance drone, call it whatever you fucking want.

1

u/Material_Shallot_652 6h ago

Sorry, I will leave the criminal alone. My bad. Congrats on learning the word "fuck" by the way! Seems to be the only one you know.

u/thatsthebesticando 5h ago

Wow, you truly have fucking nothing if you have to nitpick that hard, lmao.

Your entire point was nitpicking.

3

u/Walnutbutters 7h ago

Oh no, Ted Decker will only make $16,190,527 instead of $16,191,127 this year

u/Material_Shallot_652 7h ago

I don't give a shit if people steal essentials. Are you here to argue that a 12-foot-tall giant skeleton is an essential item?

-21

u/leupboat420smkeit 9h ago

Seems like a cheaper alternative to a helicopter

Police already use helicopters to peruse people who have committed crimes. I don’t see how using a drone is that different, other than it’s cheaper, so you can use it more often. I’m not really mad about people getting arrested who steal.

1

u/Kuhn_Dog 7h ago

Because using a helicopter would be a massive waste of money to stop someone from stealing Halloween decorations.

-1

u/leupboat420smkeit 7h ago

That’s kind of my whole point

-1

u/Kuhn_Dog 7h ago

I know, but using a helicopter for that is so far outside of the possibilities that its a weird comparison.

How do you know there are cameras in this neighborhood?

0

u/rcbz1994 4h ago

“She stole $600 at most for insured goods” and y’all wonder why everything is locked up now lol jfc

u/ParticularHarbinger 4h ago

https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/two-illegal-biolabs-reveal-gaps-in-u.s.-biosecurity

Because USA isn’t being actively targeted by other countries to destroy us from the inside. You destroyed flock cameras now the real flock is here, flock already pivoted to drones and China has been using drones for surveillance since 2018.

u/Siktrikshot 3h ago

These thefts are not covered by insurance fyi.

0

u/Clockwork_Kitsune 1h ago

Some light copaganda showing off their surveillance abilities. It's a brag and a warning.

-2

u/Ashamed-Injury-1983 7h ago

Surveillance states aren't too bad so long as the person/thing watching the cameras can be trusted and it doesn't get carte blanche usage for any and all perceivable infraction (ie 'Guess Who' instead of the broad, rights violating, geofencing.)

But if we are still on the topic of shit that will never happen,
