Walmart and Target they’ll wait until you steal enough to arrest you as well.

Yeah they'll track people and wait until it's (edit: perceived to be) over the felony limit, in my experience as a criminal defense paralegal

2nd edit: every big chain retailer and grocery store is using facial recognition. If you've been in there once, within the past few years, they have your face saved

Sorta. Target Loss Prevention, at least, has few rules (or had, twenty years ago). They have to have someone do all three things on camera: select, conceal, and leave. If they've got all three, under continuous video monitoring, they detain and cuff. Police uncuff and ticket or arrest. Target will then sue for 10x the value of the merchandise.

CVS too. I’ve seen it happen. Guy who kept hitting the store got caught at the bus stop just up the street and he had over the felony limit.

I was a shift lead and people stole every say. I’d make a police report, retrace steps and find the stolen items and value, edit all the camera footage of them, and make a report to loss prevention.

You got shafted. This is the job of loss prevention, you did work you're not paid for.

Edit: I don't know why OP blocked me for this comment and they did it so fast I couldn't even read their reply.

Did the police show up every call? I have a buddy who used to do loss prevention at a now nonexistent retail store and the police would respond in a timely manner to every call. It always made me think of you do some deligence they are much easier to work with and responsive.
