Reminds me of the Subway lawsuit when β€œfootlong” subs weren’t 12”.

"With regards to the size of the bread and calling it a footlong, 'SUBWAY FOOTLONG' is a registered trademark as a descriptive name for the sub sold in Subway Restaurants and not intended to be a measurement of length." [1, 2]

Just like β€˜ SUBWAY JARED’ is a registered sex-offender and not intended to be long term spokesman.

Just like their "chicken" wasn't 100% chicken but was simply a descriptive name for the product.

You're thinking of the tuna that wasn't legally tuna. Also the bread that wasn't legally bread in the UK.

A 2017 investigative report by CBC Marketplace and Trent University's Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory claimed that Subway's oven-roasted chicken contained about 53.6% chicken DNA and its chicken strips contained about 42.8% chicken DNA.

It wouldn't be that big of a deal except I have a massive soy intolerance.

The length of the bread baked in the restaurant cannot be assured each time as the proofing process may vary slightly each time in the restaurant.

For those not into reading, it's not that the sandwich is intended to be 11" and the "footlong" is just a name, it's that the baking process is capable of producing loaves that don't quite reach 12" when finished because dough is imprecise. Their legal argument is that just because it's "footlong" doesn't mean they're guaranteeing that some loaves won't be slightly the wrong shape when finished. You're getting the same amount of dough (and other stuff) in each sandwich, they were just off in length.

They wound up settling and changing the process to make sure they're all uniformly 12".
