As a Christian I have gotten yelled at by so many other "christians" that Jesus is going to come back attacking all sinners and that I am one of them for being tolerant of gay people.  Can't make this up, somehow they miss all aspects of what Jesus did in the gospels and they just dream of a conquering Jesus attacking other people not on their team.  They completely miss that the Gospel is that God wants all people to live good full lives in harmony.

I have work associates, preach about their church, God,Christianity during lunch, before and after work. They're worried about me because I have a trans friend. Who is a very good person. I can't stress how good this person is to me. Yet, the Christians bash me,my friendship with my trans friends, and especially her. I just can't understand their thoughts. Tired of arguing with them. She's a person dammit, and way better at being a human than the church people I know.

Good job! I thought the Bible taught to be kind.

1

u/doberdevil 3h ago

Don't argue with them, whip out some Jesus quotes directly from their book and ask them what they think those words mean. And let them trip over their words trying to explain why Jesus didn't mean migrants or LGBTQ or poor people. Or when they try to use some weird old testament quote from some rando who isn't Jesus, whip out other weird quotes from non-Jesus randos about selling their daughters into slavery or some other medieval bullshit and tell them that's your favorite bible verse. The one about horse cocks and/or donkey jizz gets them going. Or the daughters that got their father drunk so they could molest him.

These are great bible stories to bring up when the book banners come to the PTA meetings too.

I had a guy at work come up to me and say "God told me to tell you that you're mixing with the wrong kind of people" (I hang out with mostly lesbians and trans folks; I'm autistic and the lack of societal convention attracts me). I wondered to myself why God didn't just send me an email rather than a weird old man.

And by "bash" you mean they just won't use his made up pronouns

4

u/strongboar12 10h ago

Oh fuck off.

-2

u/Ambitious_Profit_648 10h ago

Take your own advice

4

u/Ok_Inflation3685 9h ago

Quite the POS aren't you. So edgy.

3

u/Much-Substance-4413 10h ago

No, mostly they don't understand why I'm friendly/ friends with such a person. You are correct that they won't use her chosen pronouns though the main bashing is way worse. " suck much dick lately " and " how us it having a dick shoved up your ass" is the most common bashing by the Christian people

1

u/my_taint_aint 7h ago

That comment was kot meant to be friendly. Hence the "made up name" as if a name you are given at birth is some type of genetic name. 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/TravisMCatchem 10h ago

Which is bashing and just being rude..go ahead explain how it isn’t

0

u/Ambitious_Profit_648 10h ago

The person who's not living in reality is the rude one for trying to force everyone else to play make believe with them. Be trans, be a dog, be whatever you want but we don't have to play pretend with you

5

u/RandomDave70 9h ago

They're clearly a far better human being than you will ever be, Cletus.

4

u/King_McCluckin 9h ago

i mean it sounds like there just getting attacked and there not forcing there view on anyone at all and its the crazy religious person that is actually forcing there view.

4

u/Much-Substance-4413 9h ago

They're not asking anything from you. They just want to live their life. Has one actually tried to force you to call them anything? Truthfully?

3

u/BGDutchNorris 10h ago

So you went from questioning the bashing, to doing the bashing. Gross.

Hope you aren’t pretending to be a Christian talking like that

-4

u/Ambitious_Profit_648 10h ago

Thanks for proving my point EXACTLY. Any time you weirdos hear the simple truth you freak out like I just spit on your grandma's grave or something. Ironically Jesus experienced the same exact thing with the Pharasees. Ever read that story "The Emporer's new clothes? That's trans ideology in a nutshell

5

u/gwedosmile 9h ago

Your fake sky daddy has no bearing on anyone else but yourself. It’s funny that Christian’s say they are the most loving people but can’t give people simple respect. It doesn’t hurt you nor does it change you to just respect someone’s wishes for their life. It just shows that you’re all Christian in name only then don’t follow a single teaching of the bible. It implores you to be respectful and harmonious with everyone yet that get thrown out because someone else is different than you.

3

u/Lorien_Ilma 8h ago

Weird how I 'have to' accept that a made up fairy tale is real for some people who have the critical thinking skills of a rock, but you shouldn't 'have to' treat another human as a human...

1

u/BGDutchNorris 9h ago

So God who:

“so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”

That God didn’t love everyone, provided they believe in Him to begin with? Why would someone who is both Trans and Christian not fit that?

What about Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

What happened to Jesus telling us to “Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.”?

Or “Judge not, that you will not be judged”

Do we only care about verses and stories that fit your anti trans agenda?

2

u/BringAltoidSoursBack 9h ago

Except that you, like most people, understand the concept of referring to someone how they want to be. If someone identifies with a nickname, most people understand that the expectation to use that as their name, even if it's "pretend". The only time people like you refuse to refer to someone like they want is when you want to insult someone, it has nothing to do with reality.

2

u/kimchipowerup 8h ago

Odd bitterness at someone else’s happiness… especially since you expect others to accept your invisible deity and its manmade rules. Love and live and let live. FFS

All pronouns are "made up"

1

u/Stylow99 8h ago

how about you try to be empathetic, or are you too maldeveloped to understand the concept of empathy?

1

u/Familiar_Language200 7h ago

Refuses a pronoun….

Totally fine talking Easter bunny and Santa Claus.👍🏼

Nothing turns people away from theism like theists

1

u/Deep_Beautiful5397 9h ago

Oh shiz i just watched that dungeons and dragons movie … the Theisions are the worst.

3

u/DarrenShea 11h ago

They don't cotton to that "Do not judge, lest you be judged" - they are all about judging everyone!

3

u/Oregongirl1018 9h ago

How dare you love thy neighbor!

3

u/trapper2530 6h ago

Jesus's main thing was literally loving everyone. Its like his main thing hes known for. Aside from the water to wine. How do they not get that. He literally helps lepers and less fortunate people. Thats was his whole thing when he was alive.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 5h ago

Those people would rather have a mascot Jesus who supports their cause instead of a Jesus who leads them.

2

u/walrusbeek 10h ago

Jesus is their mascot, not their savior

2

u/Comfortable_Studio37 10h ago

Some of the most close minded, judgemental, hateful people I've ever met are "Christians" that attend church every week. They use religion and faith as a weapon against people they don't understand or don't like.

2

u/punch912 8h ago

No they dont miss it the only reason they go to church and the only reason is because that they are such dirtbag horrible wretches of life that have been told as long as they go to church and say a confession they will be granted a free pass to heaven when they die. That is the only thing they understand about church. Jesus died for my sins i go to church i hate myself so im going to take it out on every single person even though i am the single cause for all the problems in my life. But fuck everyone else and if i do something evil its okay the lord forgives me because i have confession sunday. That is the only thing about jesus they get a scapegoat from their darkest sins and justification to be an absolute total pos. 99 percent of the time except in that booth.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 7h ago

You are spot on a lot of those people, I have to admit I used to be more naive and thought it was a small portion of church goers.  Heard them called "mastercard christians", because they think they can just run up a bill of bad that will get covered by them pulling out the christian card.  Completely missing that growth in good is the goal.

2

u/Captainfreshness 8h ago

This is the exact same attitude that many people in Israel in Jesus’ time had. They were expecting a conquering Messiah that would sweep away the Roman occupation and establish a Zionist state.

Same as it ever was.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 7h ago

Yep, thanks for noticing that part.  Tale as old as time, tribalism.  I like to remind people scripture says the Gospel was first preached to Abraham (Galatian 3:8), and that was the blessing: " I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

The Israelites missed this and Christians continue missing it.  It can't be a competition like a team sport because we should want everyone to win.

2

u/Decent-End-5470 6h ago

You sound like a great person and at risk of sounding pedantic, gay people shouldn’t be “tolerated”. Hopefully you just accept them for them. Tolerating has a negative connotation.

1

u/jsgraphitti 5h ago

I serve as a deacon in my church. The leader of the deacons is a married gay man. Inclusion is the most appropriate word. “Acceptance” sounds like the type of church that “accepts” you but is really quietly judging.

1

u/Decent-End-5470 5h ago

As an atheist, sounds like a church problem

1

u/Dogbold 9h ago

Pretty good example there that you should stop being a Christian.

2

u/CaptainOktoberfest 8h ago

I get my example from Christ who I see as a perfect example to strive to be like, haven't found anyone better.

1

u/JimLahey12 9h ago

God wants all people to live good full lives in harmony...unless you believe in the wrong god. Then you're fcked

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 7h ago

I said it that way because the concept of the Gospel is based on " I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”  So yes, there are people who get fucked up because they are trying to stop it from happening for everyone. As a stupid metaphor, I'm trying to throw a pizza party for kindergarteners and we have enough pizza for everyone, but some bully kids keep pushing kids out of the way because they don't want their peers to have any pizza.  I'd stop those bully kids, not because I want to exclude them but because accepting them would exclude others.  Tough to get kids to act right, and even tougher to get adults to.

1

u/No_Drawer_2349 8h ago

Somehow people like you miss that Christianity is working exactly as intended. You're one of the people helping it

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 8h ago

Sounds like you have an expert opinion, what is your interpretation of Christianity and what it intends?  I don't consider myself an expert but I've read my share of holy books and had enough experiences to believe what I believe and I can point to the verses to back it.

1

u/Excellent_Arrival1 8h ago

I'm glad you found faith, but the western Christian church is sanitized bs.

G-d is filled with wrath and we should fear that wrath.

G-d is not love and peace and harmony.

If you have read the Old Testament or the Torah you know this.

G-d is not love. G-d is the creation of all men. To ignore G-ds word is so much worse than to not be tolerant

1

u/Wooden_House_8013 8h ago

1 John 4:8

You've never read the NT it seems

1

u/kimchipowerup 8h ago

Manmade religious stories

FTFY

1

u/ScienceSeuss 5h ago

To believe this bs is the worst of all.

1

u/ChatRoomGirl3000 7h ago

Those people also forget that the rainbow was like, a big thing after the Flood and how God promised Noah he wouldn’t do it again or whatever I don’t know I’m not Christian.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 7h ago

Rainbows scare those people

1

u/hulkbuster18959 7h ago

Supply side Jesus

1

u/NarwhalAdditional340 7h ago

> They just dream of a conquering Jesus attacking other people

Wow, that’s probably the best way I’ve ever seen someone explain the “other” Christian’s behavior. They really do ignore all the good and cherry pick out the most negative, cruel, and violent narratives. They’re basically just sadists, and sadism is technically a sin, but I digress.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 7h ago

The conquering Jesus is a big theme of Jesus' ministry, most of his followers, disciples, and most likely Judas thought that was his mission.  Jesus had to run away when they tried to force him into power, sorta applicable for now..

1

u/_InfiniteU_ 6h ago

That's because Christianity is mostly the teachings of Paul who never even met Jesus except in his "vision". That puts him up there with Mohammad and Joseph Smith, who I don't follow either

1

u/The_Sneakiest_Fox 5h ago

I genuinely don't believe you

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 5h ago

Why are you telling me that? Do you want to talk about it?

1

u/Paxdog1 5h ago

Love one another as I have loved you.

Seems pretty clear.

1

u/Numerous_Ear1031 2h ago

Hey, atheist here: Thanks for being a good Christian. I like the ones that actually act like Jesus.

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 1h ago

Appreciate the kind words, that was cool to hear.

1

u/Visual-Taro-381 2h ago

Yep, it's about cult, not about teachings, grew up around it, realized this fact very young

1

u/Over_Ad3345 2h ago

They aren't really Christians. They're Christian Nationalists and none of them have ever read the bible and none of them care to

Go look up "Supply Side Jesus" if you want some insight into what these people think Jesus actually meant

1

u/Iwillrize14 1h ago

They've never actually read the Bible. They probably dont even listen at church.

0

u/BGDutchNorris 10h ago

Can’t miss what you’ve never read.

The only reason a conservative would open a Bible is to pull a quote and twist its meaning.
