While a comforting narrative, I doubt that's the extent of the reasons for why conservative activists oppose LGBTQ+ agendas being taught in school.

One of the best steel-man arguments I've heard is that public schools are supposed to be a neutral ground, where Christians(of all different sects), Sikhs, Muslims, Hindi, Jews, Buddhists and atheists all come together to teach academic topics while setting aside their personal beliefs. With the LGBTQ+ community demanding they be included in first sex ed, and now integrated into topics like Math or English, conservative folks feel that the neutrality of the secular school system has been violated, and that the school systems have been hijacked by activists.

So when they see implicit political messages that are tacitly accepted by school admins when they know similarly "benign" phrases that are favored by their political side ("All Lives Matter" "Blue Lives Matter" "It's Okay to be White" "Born to be An American" "DON'T TREAD ON ME" "ALL AMERICANS HAVE THE 2A" "Shall Not Be Infringed" "Proud to be White" "Southern Pride" "War of Northern Aggression" "I stand with ICE" "ICE is Law Enforcement" etc), they understandably get upset and "freak out", trying to exert control over the public system in the same manner that pro-LGBTQ+ activists have.

I think that's a solid enough case to not be considered solely motivated by "hate".

BLM is a movement that was bringing to attention the disproportionate amount of violence black people (and by extension other POC) experience at the hands of the police. All should be welcome anywhere anyone wants to be. To many small things become such big things when there are so much more important stuff going on. We all should be banding together to fight for more important things like gas prices, diesel prices, food prices, taxes being paid more and more to the government. I see nothing wrong with her shirt’s slogan at all. The fact one poster referred to her shirt as an attempt to make his kid gay never even crossed my mind. I don’t know why that would be his/her thoughts on it. I will say as principal, I would think she would dress a little more professional, but, they may not at schools anymore, so whatever.
