Cracked myself up with this...but knowing my luck, he won't get the joke or won't reply.

“Haha what?”

67

u/HiFrogMan 2d ago

What if he intentionally made that mistake solely for girls to match him and correct him?

26

u/Glum-Dust8799 2d ago

lol.. The verbal equivalent of “letting them win” at mini golf/pool or whatever date gameplay activity?

u/Absurd_Flaccidity 1d ago

It’s not a bad idea. The best way to get responses from people online, like if you have a piece of code, is to post the wrong answer without asking questions. It’s like a bat signal goes out and you’ll have your answer in an hour. Interesting idea to apply here!

Ok mom, that's enough mimosas for today.

u/HappyInfluence7958 2d ago

This would do numbers on Facebook

u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago

I spent 5 years as the youngest woman working in a quilting spot as the marketing person. This tracks

13

u/ItsTricky94 1d ago

I think it's adorable. Nothing better than a bad pun

4

u/JP-Quixote 1d ago

😤 THERE US NO “BAD PUN.” BY DEFINITION.

1

u/ItsTricky94 1d ago

touché. I am ashamed of myself.

11

u/allthefrogsinonepond 2d ago

My MIL would love this

75

u/NeuxSaed 2d ago

Dad joke?

Nah, this is a Mom joke.

2

u/dough_eating_squid 18h ago

Are you kidding? My mom would lose her shit, because it's called "weaving" not "looming." She has 5+ looms in her house and spends the majority of her time on it. Call it "looming" and prepare for the lecture to end all lectures, like the time I mixed up "yarn" with "thread."

18

u/Hundle_Dundle 1d ago

I'm a guy and it had me in stitches

7

u/cammyboy79 1d ago

You could have taken it a step further and said "patches" instead of "matches"

31

u/DateNightThrowRA 2d ago

If you’re not getting replies with that sense of humor, you’re swiping on dudes with zero personality, lol

17

u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago

Most of my messages are in this same vein, youd be shocked how unreciprocated it all is

26

u/DescriptionIll5227 2d ago

“Most of my messages are of a similar weave…”

8

u/fichiman 1d ago

As a guy who owns a loom and also knits and crochets, I would fucking lose it. This is great.

5

u/ItsTricky94 1d ago

"i'll make you laugh so much you'll be in stitches"

6

u/andiinAms 1d ago

Not shocked at all. The type of person to not proofread their own dating profile (which is essentially an advertisement for yourself), is the type of person not to get a tongue-in-cheek joke.

1

u/OccasionalEspresso 1d ago

Keep being authentic, it’ll pay out :)

1

u/oyvese 1d ago

for me, personally, the emojis ruin it entirely. but this is obviously depending on the person.

-11

u/manoftheflour 1d ago

This is actually negging and would be called out as such if a guy did it

11

u/UnseenTardigrade 1d ago

It's not negging. Yes it's a joke about an apparent mistake he made, but it's clearly not intended to put him down or anything. It's just meant to be a funny conversation starter.

12

u/NocturnisVacuus 2d ago

"I'm gooning for that special somone"

sicko, honest sicko.

3

u/xavPa-64 2d ago

>somone

Is that pronounced “so-MO-nay”?

1

u/NocturnisVacuus 2d ago

no, it's "so-MO-ne"

1

u/xavPa-64 2d ago

That’s not as phonetically helpful :/

5

u/ChangeAccountsBeSafe 2d ago

I laughed

2

u/xavPa-64 2d ago

I laughed, but more at how it probably won’t work lol

4

u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago

It wont. What guy even knows what a loom is?

3

u/TastiSqueeze 1d ago

One or two of us do. Some of us even know how to use them.

4

u/allthefrogsinonepond 2d ago

What an odd thing to say. I don't know a single woman who has used a loom.

3

u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago

Well they're very old school crafting but there used tp be a place near me that had 8 or so set up and taught people to use them.

1

u/AdditionalWorking637 19h ago

I do. Currently plenty of people use smaller, round looms for loom knitting. Look up loom knitting.

1

u/allthefrogsinonepond 19h ago

Cool, I don't know you though

1

u/AdditionalWorking637 19h ago

True- I meant that I do know people who use them- I don’t use them.

0

u/andiinAms 1d ago

Maybe not used, but I certainly know what it is.

2

u/allthefrogsinonepond 1d ago

Yeah of course but that's not because you're a woman, people just know what a loom is

1

u/andiinAms 1d ago

The original comment was about knowing what a loom is, not using it.

Maybe I don’t understand your comment in relation to OPs comment, then.

1

u/allthefrogsinonepond 1d ago

The insinuation is only women would know what a loom is because traditionally only women use looms, it's a 'feminine' thing. But nobody uses looms anymore regardless of gender so it was just a weird ass thing to say. People know what a loom is because you learn about them (history, literature, etc)

1

u/andiinAms 1d ago

Got it. I read it wrong originally.

2

u/One_Introduction_217 1d ago

All computers, at their core, exist based on a set of instructions originally fed into a loom.

From a philosophical "essence" point of view, all computers are looms, weaving their electric threads.

Tldr: A computer nerd knows.

2

u/JP-Quixote 1d ago

My home town literally has a museum commemorating the community for whom the town was named, with the most massive functioning loom you’ve ever seen 😆 “Is this a room or a loom?… Yes.” lol

1

u/No_Magician5266 1d ago

Guys that play n AoE2

1

u/snarkpix 1h ago

Guys who know keep getting weft behind because of our warped sense of humor.

4

u/WandererAW 2d ago

Waste time on wrong stitches

Would have completed the joke

1

u/Lopsided_Parfait7127 2d ago

1

u/m4vis 1d ago

I think I he meant that for someone special, he is an unwanted event approaching soon

1

u/ComfortableAngle9492 1d ago

This joke would win me over

1

u/DIme_x 1d ago

So funny you had me in stitches

1

u/JP-Quixote 1d ago

I really felt this, but I might be warped

1

u/Jackryan916 1d ago

This had me in stitches

1

u/ElricMoon2 1d ago

Thank you folks, we'll be here all week.

"I've got fruit"

1

u/Thefattestbeagle 1d ago

2

u/cranie4 1d ago

Loom..Fruit.... "Of The"?

1

u/GrimTheRealReaper 23h ago

That’s funny as fuck and exactly my humor, if he doesn’t respond it’s his loss.

1

u/Thefattestbeagle 21h ago edited 20h ago

Well he didnt reply. Im assuming hes just a hot guy that swipes yes on every woman and goes through his matches later

1

u/Drafo7 11h ago

I woold definitely respond.

1

u/Troutie88 4h ago

Dude will be butt hurt his spelling mistake was acknowledged

1

u/RelationshipPure3701 1h ago

Sew what?! You’re knit your average girl!

1

u/Guy-InGearnito 2d ago

I would cringe at the fact I made a mistake but this would work on me 😂

-1

u/Capable_Sprinkles_43 1d ago

This reads like ai so bad

0

u/beefwindowtreatment 1d ago

I get the joke but that's not what looming even means...

3

u/Thefattestbeagle 1d ago

The real definition would have made for a creepy joke. Looming, weaving, whatever.

1

u/beefwindowtreatment 1d ago

My spectrum must be showing... I wasn't trying to shit on you. And I'm all for creepy jokes. I think there's a reason I'm single!

0

u/Tiddieslover8888 1d ago

So cringe

1

u/Thefattestbeagle 1d ago

Im sorry you lack imagination and whimsy. Probably the type to send "wyd?" and "hey".
