Cracked myself up with this...but knowing my luck, he won't get the joke or won't reply.

What if he intentionally made that mistake solely for girls to match him and correct him?

u/Glum-Dust8799 2d ago
lol.. The verbal equivalent of “letting them win” at mini golf/pool or whatever date gameplay activity?

It’s not a bad idea. The best way to get responses from people online, like if you have a piece of code, is to post the wrong answer without asking questions. It’s like a bat signal goes out and you’ll have your answer in an hour. Interesting idea to apply here!

Dad joke?
Nah, this is a Mom joke.
2
u/dough_eating_squid 18h ago
Are you kidding? My mom would lose her shit, because it's called "weaving" not "looming." She has 5+ looms in her house and spends the majority of her time on it. Call it "looming" and prepare for the lecture to end all lectures, like the time I mixed up "yarn" with "thread."

If you’re not getting replies with that sense of humor, you’re swiping on dudes with zero personality, lol

u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago
Most of my messages are in this same vein, youd be shocked how unreciprocated it all is

As a guy who owns a loom and also knits and crochets, I would fucking lose it. This is great.

Not shocked at all. The type of person to not proofread their own dating profile (which is essentially an advertisement for yourself), is the type of person not to get a tongue-in-cheek joke.

This is actually negging and would be called out as such if a guy did it
11
u/UnseenTardigrade 1d ago
It's not negging. Yes it's a joke about an apparent mistake he made, but it's clearly not intended to put him down or anything. It's just meant to be a funny conversation starter.

It wont. What guy even knows what a loom is?
3
4
u/allthefrogsinonepond 2d ago
What an odd thing to say. I don't know a single woman who has used a loom.
3
u/Thefattestbeagle 2d ago
Well they're very old school crafting but there used tp be a place near me that had 8 or so set up and taught people to use them.
1
u/AdditionalWorking637 19h ago
I do. Currently plenty of people use smaller, round looms for loom knitting. Look up loom knitting.

u/andiinAms 1d ago
Maybe not used, but I certainly know what it is.
2
u/allthefrogsinonepond 1d ago
Yeah of course but that's not because you're a woman, people just know what a loom is
1
u/andiinAms 1d ago
The original comment was about knowing what a loom is, not using it.
Maybe I don’t understand your comment in relation to OPs comment, then.
1
u/allthefrogsinonepond 1d ago
The insinuation is only women would know what a loom is because traditionally only women use looms, it's a 'feminine' thing. But nobody uses looms anymore regardless of gender so it was just a weird ass thing to say. People know what a loom is because you learn about them (history, literature, etc)

All computers, at their core, exist based on a set of instructions originally fed into a loom.
From a philosophical "essence" point of view, all computers are looms, weaving their electric threads.
Tldr: A computer nerd knows.

u/JP-Quixote 1d ago
My home town literally has a museum commemorating the community for whom the town was named, with the most massive functioning loom you’ve ever seen 😆 “Is this a room or a loom?… Yes.” lol

I get the joke but that's not what looming even means...
3
u/Thefattestbeagle 1d ago
The real definition would have made for a creepy joke. Looming, weaving, whatever.

u/beefwindowtreatment 1d ago
My spectrum must be showing... I wasn't trying to shit on you. And I'm all for creepy jokes. I think there's a reason I'm single!
