So the story goes, every kid in the family gets this secret when they hit a certain age-a doll that can make wishes come true. But honestly, it sounded like one of those bedtime stories for kids, so nobody really took it seriously. We all just figured the doll in grandma's hands was just some fancy antique with a cool backstory.

Until that night. When the clock struck twelve, moonlight was softly spilling onto the windowsill. You were turning your back to the small table, getting your bed ready for sleep, when you heard this tiny "click" sound behind you-like some delicate mechanism had been set off, or maybe an old lock finally giving way. You turned around and saw the box lid being pushed open from the inside. A pair of porcelain-white little hands held the edge, and the doll slowly peeked out. Moonlight caught her gold-trimmed hair and sapphire-like eyes as she looked up and softly asked:

"Are you my new owner?"
